Gosh I wish I pre-ordered this instead of Torchlight 2

Can you elaborate on the difference between these two? They look quite similar, judging by gameplay videos.

I'm actually waiting for Torchlight 2 myself, first one was fun to play and you can't complain about the price point.

Does this mean we're going to send Blizzard cupcakes and start a chairty?

Haha good one. No.

Torchlight II is only $20. It has LAN play in addition to online multiplayer. You can customize characters beyond gender, such as picking different hairstyles. Modding is not only allowed, but encouraged. There is no always online requirement. Character skills are closer to Diablo II.

There are only four classes instead of D3's five, and the graphics aren't as sharp and somewhat cartoony which I imagine will put some folks off. The music will be phenomenal though, if it's anything like the first game.

I preordered it a week or so ago. That said, I wish the Torchlight II > Diablo III comments I often come across were a tad less condescending. It makes Torchlight fans look like hipsters. :P

I dunno.

Is Diablo lore and characters nearly as good as Mass Effect's?

I love the fact that developers care so much about Metacritic scores; it makes me feel like the customers actually matter for once.

Anyways, pretty hilarious that Mass Effect: 3 got such a bad rating. Since I never cared for the series, I definitely missed the explosion these board had (I hope it was as big as the Dragon Age: II fiasco), and the developers/moderators saying how it must have been Four Chan raids or something Image IPB.

I'm surprised Diablo: III wasn't an instant 70-90 in the user reviews; it seems like it had a strong following.

Yeah.

Plus you have to add those who downrate EA games just because it's EA game.

ME3 still has higher score then Diablo 3.

They're both equally horrid.

why would they care about the score? The only people who would go on and complain are people who bought it already. If I was a publisher, I'd sleep better knowing my game sold enough to actually garner that type of reaction.

Take me for instance, who didn't like any of the blizzard game, and won't be spending my time review bombing the game. Blizzard would be more worried that there are people like me rather than their pissed off fans.

Someone who has good or realistic tastes can answer that instead?

Eh, ME's lore is not too bad - even if it is just a copy & paste of KOTOR with name and model swaps.

No one plays Diablo for lore or characters. Its just a loose framework for killing and looting things.

Meh gameplay wise Diablo III is excellent if people still play Blizzard games for lore and story they are dumb.

As for the score I assume the server issues are what's causing them.

And, ironically, where Diablo III has advertisements.

Pretty much all of those people couldn't login yesterday and then gave the game 0/10 on Metacritic. They hadn't even played the game at that point. There is also that one guy who says he loves the game but then proceeds to give it 0/10 because of the server issues....Gotta love metacritic

You mean when you buy a game brand new for $60 and go to play it and it doesn't work it doesn't deserve a 0/10? It's not the consumer's fault Blizzard forced DRM down the consumer's throat.

Any game you purchase, go to play, and it doesn't work deserves a 0/10 in my book.

Outside of what a game truly deserves for a metacritic score, if you just bought a game for $60, and it doesn't work because of some nonsense like online DRM, would you be tempted to review bomb the game with a 0/10 too? I don't know about you, but I'd be tempted :)

Who cares, it's Metacrtic. It's probably people raging about not being able to log in.
Frankly, yes the mandatory connection can be a nuisance sometimes but not enough to make me boycott the game. Loving it so far despite the changes and it's not better or worse tha ME3 either. Nothing about this game was ruined in my opinion.

I'd like to see a system where the user providing the review actually has to prove they own the game in order to post their review. That might help fix the problem with user reviews.

You will probably find Blizzard did not choose to advertise there, it most likely uses a third party that places banners and such all over the net, the sites that have such banners (metacrybaby and others) use this third party.

Meh, to be frank, I doubt most low/skewered user reviews have that much to do with illegit users.  Rather, they have more to do with emotional users.  I suspect that even if there is a system to check users actually own the game, the same comments would still be there and the scores would still be roughly the same.  Less reviews, perhaps.
