Pretty much all of those people couldn't login yesterday and then gave the game 0/10 on Metacritic. They hadn't even played the game at that point. There is also that one guy who says he loves the game but then proceeds to give it 0/10 because of the server issues....Gotta love metacritic

You mean when you buy a game brand new for $60 and go to play it and it doesn't work it doesn't deserve a 0/10? It's not the consumer's fault Blizzard forced DRM down the consumer's throat.

Any game you purchase, go to play, and it doesn't work deserves a 0/10 in my book.

I take it you don't play many online games. What happened yesterday is very normal for any popular online game. It's rough for about a day, maybe two and then it's fine. I managed to get about 4-5 hours of playtime yesterday.

I would also rather see Blizzard do this than have the game hacked to hell like Diablo 1 and 2 were. Duped items galore.

Diablo III has a single player component it sure as hell is Blizzard's fault.

Ruining the fun with 'online log-in' for this single player game.

LOL. Why in the hell should anyone have to be online just to play a single-player campaign? That's one of the most retarded things I've ever heard - Blizzard can suck it, as far as I'm concerned.

That's a pretty narrow gap considering the ******-taking DRM on the Diablo game.

I'm actually quite surprised by how low ME3's score is. The ending debacle must have really upset the fanbase, because people seemed to thoroughly enjoy the game until the ending, and the MP, too. I mean to the point where you'd expect a medium-high score.

If you have to log in just to play singleplayer, I suppose 0 is a justified score. lulz.

Diablo's score will increase when the/more fans complete the game. Still it will be rather low

That is kind of ridiculous that you need to be logged in to play SP. I was hoping to keep myself entertained with DIII on the airplane. :[

Technically, this is exactly like having to login to Origin to play Mass Effect 3. When it works... well, it's okay. But when you pay money for a game expecting it to work whenever you want to play, and it doesn't, well it sucks tremendously. The lack of an offline mode is also a kicker, though I've heard it's because of some auction house, no?

And this is exactly why Metacritic is worthless if you want to know how good the actual game is. Tells you more about people's attitudes towards the developer or their dissatisfaction with login issues or such things, or perhaps just a "let's hate X" trend in the gaming community.

The game now has a 3.6. Damn, they're really pushing through those ratings!

I never take any of the user reviews seriously since they're mostly just people spamming zeros because the protagonist wore a green hat or how the company is now evil after getting bought out by a big publisher. As I said before most of  the "user reviews" (Which are now over 1000) are people complaining about how they couldn't log in during launch.

I certainly agree, though it may be useful for gauging those attitudes at least. Perhaps reflecting on the status of customer relations for the company.

Why do you pc gamers tolerate not being able to "log on" to play your games?

It's so nice to sit back on the couch, open up your disk drive, pop in the game and play.

I had invested a large amount into TOR. I spent 500 bucks at the time for Ge Force 580GTX, even better I bought a 24 inch screen from DELL. I never kept my xbox360's or PS3 because I got bored of them and wound up selling them usually for around a hundred.

I feel the need to go back to playing on my console. What other games are out there. I was looking to ME3 and TOR. Now I kinda feel need to get my PS3 and play heavy rain. Both games imo scored terrible. This is 4 out of 10? what does that game about gaming companys.

Seriously. SERIOUSLY?!

Well, it's a failure if you can't even play the game.

Well, I prefer ME3 to Diablo 3 by a mile. I enjoyed D2 for H&S fun and stuff... but D3 feels like...same old same old.

But review bombing is a disgrace.

Funny, given that Blizzard mocked Bioware not long ago.

Failure or not the game most likely broke ever sales record Blizzard had.

Which is a VERY alarming thing for a single-player game. (The fact that you have to log-in is implied - and this already is horrible)

Also, compare the ratings to other games - you'll see that spamming 0's is more rare, and hence is always triggered by some major failure by the dev.

Gosh I wish I pre-ordered this instead of Torchlight 2

Can you elaborate on the difference between these two? They look quite similar, judging by gameplay videos.

Torchlight II is only $20. It has LAN play in addition to online multiplayer. You can customize characters beyond gender, such as picking different hairstyles. Modding is not only allowed, but encouraged. There is no always online requirement. Character skills are closer to Diablo II.

There are only four classes instead of D3's five, and the graphics aren't as sharp and somewhat cartoony which I imagine will put some folks off. The music will be phenomenal though, if it's anything like the first game.

I preordered it a week or so ago. That said, I wish the Torchlight II > Diablo III comments I often come across were a tad less condescending. It makes Torchlight fans look like hipsters. :P

The way Blizzard is handeling this whole BS just proves I made the right choice.  I've already said that I was done with buying 60 dollar games on release.  Plus I got the first Torchlight for free for pre-ordering it for someone who doesn't have the first one thats a selling point.
Its not meant to be condescending or sounding like a hipster.  Its saying I don't have the money for D3 so I'll buy the cheaper alternative.
Besides if anyone's being condescending its Blizzard thinking that everyone will be waiting almost as long as we did for Duke Nukem Forever.

How are they supposed to talk about a game they can't even get on to play?
Your telling me you'd give it a good score when you just get errors when you log in?

I wasn't calling anyone here out with the hipster comment. I meant that generally. For example, the amount of condescension I saw when Torchlight 2's trailer made the rounds week back was fairly thick at other game sites I frequent. I'm no great lover of Diablo III. The beta reeked of mediocrity in my opinion. I just think some Torchlight fans make me feel less than enthusiastic about admitting I prefer it too.

So there's a My Little Pony level in the game?
