Why would a non-white character not appeal to whites?

Regardless, I agree that diversity is a worthy goal.

Whether male or female the default lead protagonist always been portrayed as white in Bioware's games. To my knowledge this is all we've ever seen represented when it comes to advertisements and promotional trailers as well as the in game default characters. Do you think this will ever change or that it even should? Personally I'd like for Bioware to decide one of these days to have their default lead protagonists portrayed as something other than white male/white female. It's not a huge deal to me or anything but It's just one of those things you can't help but notice over the years. I don't expect this to be a very popular thread topic but hopefully it will be handled maturely. Thoughts?
I don't think it's a racist thing, I think they choose whatever face goes best with the voice acting.

That's a slippery slope, but I do recall that Ash's VA in ME was black. Confirmation anyone?
No they're not. Some characters (the old FF games, Metal Gear) are explicitly white (and Anerican, if so), but the vast majority, including the animé characters, are supposed to be Japanese, even ambiguously.known_hero wrote...

"Black peeps" don't often get a chance to play black characters (especially ones that aren't stereotyped bullsh*ts), so their preference is really irrelevant.hes not being simple minded just saying as it is white people like playing as white charectar just as im sure black peeps play as balck peeps.

Seriously. When you can have so many skin colors, eye shapes, hairstyles to chose from to design your pratagonist and make him/her look unique and stand out from the rest, why would you go for a bald marine white guy look again? I bet it's just dictated by marketing teams "because white bald marine appeals the best to dudebros yay!"...Random Jerkface wrote...

EDIT: If you noticed what you listed, they have several things in common:
A) The characters are explicitly American or (implied) European (though that shouldn't necessarily make them white)
andThey were created for international consumption. Those games aren't popular in the domestic market.
