There a lot of people around here who have mods that make any non-white characters white. It's not surprising they voted for the whitest Shep.

A poplar Dragon Age II mod makes Isabela white. That caused some interesting debate on these forums.

I am a little bit annoyed by it because my Shep is black/asian, and then I have to look at the default FemShep's face on everything. At least I can use my fully-customized FemShep in-game. I wish I could see her in the pre-rendered trailer and the artwork (like I'm sure many people do with their own Sheps), but that's just silly.

Certainly hope not, I know I would not like to play any game like that.
I already never play any games that are female character only because it is so immersion breaking.

Because--wait for it--that's just as racist. If it's racist at all, which it isn't.

Why are you separating whites from other colors? Why is it bad for it to be a white person yet okay for it to be another color and thus exclude white + all the other colors? It isn't.

The fact is, if we're going to have one at all, it has to be *some* color. Placing any--ANY[/i][i]--value on any one color--be it white, black, whatever--is the very definition of racism.

 maybe you should look up racism.. and better yet read my post correctly. I didn't say anything about separating, or excluding anyone. i Just possed a question..if it is okay to have it one way, why can't it be ok to have it another way.  A lot of people argument to this thread has been it doesn't matter that the default is white cus you can jst change it ..I say that the fact that you can change the ethnictisty is not relevant to the topic of this thread.
the quetion was why does the default have to be white???

and btw stateing what your race is doesn't add anything to your piont ,and it really shouldn't matter.

Why does it matter? 

THe game is designed for you to build your Shepard to your own ideal. 

Only noobs and lazy gamers stick with default.  


I did back in ME1 through my first play through, but the game is far more enjoyable when you personalized Shepard.

Jade Empire has six defaults (with no option for custom), and all of them are asian.

Personally, I don't care what the defaults are in a game like Mass Effect where you don't have to use them. All of my playthroughs are with custom characters, unless I like the design of a default enough to create a character of my own based on that appearance.

As long as its not Jacob i don't mind. He was so un-black that he seemed like he was white with fake tan.

Even posting a topic about this makes you racist yourself, because of the fact that you're thinking about it. Like I said, Bioware is just choosing the right face for the voice acting, and the right look to go with the story. It's nothing personal. Are you forgetting that the entire mass effect series is anti-racist? That's like half of the story in a nutshell. So quit being a racist and leave it alone.

They already have. All of the characters from Jade Empire are Asian (probably Chinese, but I'm not sure).

If white people 'give back' what they conquered then they should demolish every building, every street, every city, destroy every car, every bus, every train, every airplane and harvest every piece of technology on the continent invented by whites, and leave N. America as it was when they arrived - wilderness.

In Britain following the "Diversity for the sake of diversity" logic enabled an awesome dance act to win the competition. Hell yes!

If only they could stick to one tune rather than doing a medley. Then they'd be perfect.


Regarding the subject. I'd love to have a non white default lead character. But didn't we have a poll vote on this. Most people voted for the blond female and got a red head instead. (I personally prefer the red head but it is not what people voted for.)

It would be nice to provide a non white default lead character.

I wouldn't have a problem with that either. As long as I can customize her to the way I want her, I couldn't care less what the default character looks like.

My only thing is that I do not play male only. I want a female protag. If I don't get a choice of male/female, I don't buy the game. I so would love to get The Witcher, but because he's male only, I won't. I know that it is done because of the books. I do however, hope that CDProjectRed will design games that allows a female protag.

There are only 2 games in all the games out there that compelled me to play as a male. One is Planescape Torment, and the other one is Zelda. That is due to the fact that Planescape is the best game ever developed, and Zelda was my first ever venture into video games.
