Moot point is moot.

Birds conquered Mount Everest long before humans.

Therefore birds should rule humans(Caveat Lector: Oransel logic was used to arrive at this conclusion.)

It was Shepard. Because he's the player character.
You really like to twist things around to your liking, don't you?

Yeah, I wonder why narratively they chose to have the main protagonist, the main antagonist and the protagonist's father figure (at least IMO) present for the finale. Can't think of ANY good storytelling reason for that.

More importantly the catalyst decision is the biggest decision in the series and Shepard is the protagonist. If it wasn't him that made the decision and some random turian or salarian made the call then people would be even MORE angry at the ending because the hero wouldn't have made the crucial choice. The fact Shepard is a human has nothing to do with that.

I really can't understand how you can be so hateful of yourselves? Do you hate yourself for being human? Do you dream about becoming cyborg or alien? I can't understand that. How do you cope with watching into the mirror? Looking at your human face?

I don't hate myself for being human, I don't hate myself at all. I just don't think it makes me superior.

I have other reasons to think that in regards to you, though.

Because anyone who doesn't agree with your extreme position must be from the other extreme position.

Oh please, it's such an overdone thing. We are hardly speshul, we are fairly crappy in regards to other ME species. We are more like Batarians than anything.

I don't believe humans are special but this is insulting. Humans have had a greatly positive effect on the galaxy, we help make it safe along with the turians, we have created new technologies like medigel and stealth drives and shared them with the other species, we have extablished trade relationships with dozens of species, Earth is going through a golden age.
So yeah, humans aren't innherently superior but we have done very well for ourselves and there is nothing wrong with being proud of that.
And, for the most part, we are quite a decent species in the ME universe. We have done our shady businesses like every species but our government has never financed slave trading, it has never attacked alien territory without provocation, we haven't isolated ourselves whenever we didn't get our way, etc.
The anti-human sentiment in this thread is getting ridiculous.

I see no anti-human sentiment, I see people rightly calling a troll out on his bullsh*t, by saying humanity aint so special.

Because it's not, in Mass Effect anyway.

Nice strawman argument. No, people are coming to this thread to argue your reprehensible ideals regarding subjugation over co-operation, supremacy over equality and your belief that humanity is somehow destined to be better than everything and everyone else just because.

Purely because I don't agree with you does not mean I hate humanity. I hate bigoted narrow minded fools like you who show the worst side of our race. If alien contact occured then yes amalgamation into their society whilst completely forgetting our culture would be a tragedy. It would also never happen. The sharing of ideas between groups and opening yourself to new viewpoints is ALWAYS how the human race has advanced.

I am damn proud of humanity in general, but I will NOT let pride turn into arrogance. It seems you have.

EDIT: In case I didn't make it crystal clear I wholeheartedly believe you represent the absolute worst side of humanity and I sincerely hope that by the time we are in a position to make contact with aliens your backwards and outdated views will cease to exist because they have no place in modern society.

We don't hate being human. We just don't hate non-humans for not being human.

More like a burning age. Earth was a dump even before the Reapers invaded.

Everyone have all the rights in the world to be tired of the "humenz r speshul" crap, because it happens way too often.

Hell, the original ending was supposed to be all over it too. The humans were supposed to be the Reapers' solution to the dark energy problem.

Hmm... You see, there is a problem with this one. There will always be those who are hating their identity. Those who believe that everything alien is better than human. Just look at our times. How many young western people are attracted by japanese pseudo-culture like sushi, anime and so on, while forgetting about their own cultures? Isn't that horrible? Look at those who are changing their genders, they are obviously hating themselves. Is that the kind of people we want to represent the Humanity?

People like me are vocal only because we are counterpart to those traitors. There is nothing wrong with cooperation with aliens. But our own interests, our identity and culture should come first. By any means.

Had Ceberus been continued as their morally grey group from ME2 - posts like these could be good moral debates.

As it stands. No.

Someone didn't read the Codex in ME3.

"Earth, the homeworld and capital of humanity, was enjoying a new golden age before the Reapers attacked. Disease, pollution, and other social ills were on the decline thanks to technological advances and a wealth of resources from the colonies. Earth was an inspiration even to alien cultures, resulting in influence out of proportion with humanity's brief time on the galactic stage."

The problem is that it's pretty difficult to design a galaxy full of different species where humans excel at something other than at 'diversity'. Say, if every other race in Mass Effect was physically weaker than humans that would seem weird to many even though that could be possible. Because it's hard to actually think of the humans at being best at something in a wide array of different species; it contradicts basic human common sense and imagination that there are things at which humans could be better. We don't take our capabilites as granted but as something that could be improved.
Playing the 'humans are diverse' card is the easiest way out of that problem.

Yeah. Introducing the Illusive Man was the dumbest move the BioWare crew could have ever done, because he just needed a mustache to twirl at Shepard to be the most obvious villain ever.

Not to mention that he wasn't needed at all for Cerberus to function. If anything, he's hampering their progress towards...anything productive for everyone around them.

So you would rather they be miserable than happy?

Ever heard of 'live and let live'? You know, don't f*** with me and I wont f*** with you? I can't comprehend why that isn't enough for some people.

Humanity itself has only one instinct. War. When an animal kills it has a reason when we kill it is out of our own greed look at the Crusades, WWII, The wars over colonial rights in America such as the French and Indian war, and The hundred years wars
