I'm not going to waste my time reading all of this thread, but i'ma hazard a guess it's something like this:

Ok, I'll admit that the cloak was a big, BIG part of why I initially, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, chose that class in ME2 and then ME1 (yes, I began by playing 2 before 1) and have sticked with it ever since. Because when I began playing shooters I sucked so hard I couldn't survive without it it suited my beginner level skills. 
 
I wouldn't go so far as to say it makes the whole class in MP OP though. I do realize however, that I have been really, really lucky team-wise, when not playing an inf, since I have never found my poor AA taking all the aggro with 3 infs just prancing around the map cloaked.

They are really powerfull ,but i dont find them that appealing to play. Never liked chosing class and race becasue of their strenghts, i instead chose what is the most fun to play.

i admit, i laughed out loud. mainly because the  original poster tends to go into instant fangirl mode at the mere mention of the specter's name, let alone have him post in his topic lol (even though he somewhat disagreed with the op). kinda disturbing actually

I hardly would call it fangirldom but Spectre makes very good players look bad. That says a lot.

It's the recharge issue, The fact I can run around with a Widow and a GPS and have my cloak recharge unaffected by the weight. Combine it with the 40% damage boost when sniping and using the reload cancel animation, hunter mode and the other damage buffs. The GI becomes a Godly damage dealer.

Okay, wasted my time reading this, not all that much mention of Cloak really.

That said, I can match the scores I make with my GI (which I use because my background is FPS games, thus I like to snipe, thus Geth Infiltrator is most logical - I completely forgo Prox Mine so it's just shooting) with either of the Asari Adepts, the Krogan Vanguard and dependent on the map Batarian Soldier.

Having read this thread that should leave me to believe that I can apparently do this because i'm a really good player, as average players cannot, so thanks for the compliment.

Cloak as a technical device has its own power supply, so its CD is dependant only on how long you are cloaked. If you are not long, then it only takes 3 sec to recharg it.  If it would helped you carry the weapons around (as a prostheses) then its CD would be dependant on weight thing aswell.

Batarian Soldier on Glacier can easily outscore GI with Inferno Grenade spam.

Anyways, this topic would only make sense if anybody who picked up the GI could perform at least decently. I played in several all GI parties today on Random/Random, and no, it doesn't magically turn someone into a good player, I promise.

Sounds to me like someone has deep seeded emotional issues over the infiltrator class.
Butt hurt because they keep out-dpsing you?
Seriously, every post on here from you is complaining about the class and attempting to patronise the people who play them.
Get out the ****ing house once in a while.
They're not OP, (one of the more competent pure damage dealers definetly) they just require little to no synergy than other classes to perform well.
And this is a team cooperative game, not a solo game, believe it or not. They have a role they were designed for, and they do it well, that does not make them OP.
A team of biotics or techies will put the infiltrator in the corner. And class synergy is what matters in this game.
Now, please, for the love of God, shut - the **** - up.

I play QI with Valiant II a lot because I like sniping - and it always worries me if, in a gold lobby, there's no infiltrator (though that doesn't happen much) because the RNG gods will give you "capture the point" objectives on waves 3, 6 AND 10 just to punish you for not having one (at least it feels like it)... and yet 3 or 4 infiltrators in a team seems to suck badly when you get upload objectives.

I don't know whether something changed with the last patch - but certain enemies seem to have gotten much better at figuring out where you are when you're using cloak, particularly Marauders but Geth Primes, Hunters and Rocket Troopers have always been iffy with cloak because of the way their weapons seem to track and turrets seem to be able to see you cloaked or not. Tactical cloak is good, really, really good in fact - but it's not quite invisible god-mode.

I'm not sure that Infiltrators are overpowered - but they ARE easy to get to grips with and do well... but a sucky player will still suck even using an SI, as was blatantly obvious in one match I had yesterday where the SI with a Black Widow finished last on the scoreboard on a gold/cerberus/dagger match and I, as a Drell Adept, had to do the "point capture" missions as he was just milling about attempting to snipe Phantoms.

Other classes are harder to master but they can do as well, if not better, than Infiltrators (encountered an amazingly good AV/Sniper with a Sabre II recently) - map, enemy and loadout also play a part... if you're using a sniper-wielding infiltrator on a totally random game and end up in glacier/reaper you'll wish you had a shotgun or were playing as a Justicar or Drell Adept.

Vanguard Sniper? that makes no sense at all. must've been someone challenging himself to do good with an illogical build. there are gods walking among us, but they are rarer than N7 drops once you maxed out everything else.

Well, I guess that's true with most players. A lot of people have their preferred class and they can't replicate the results with their secondary classes. You know, most people have limited time and skill in this game so they stick to honing their skills with their preferred class. To some that's AA, to some that's an engy, and to some that's an infiltrator. 

And starting a topic with "I actually would have no problem with Infiltrators if they would all just say, yes, it is OP and I like being OP. Thank you." Sheesh, get off your high horse. And grow up.
