Would you want a LI triangle confrontation in ME3?

I highly doubt this would happen, but if it were possible:

The fact that Shepard could be buddying up to several characters and magically get friendzoned by the rest when Shep picks one seems "off" to me.

What are they doing? Texting each other when Shep walks (runs) between them? Even if so, nobody is annoyed/upset about it after Shep seemingly getting "close" with them and picking someone else?

I agree! It seemed really unrealistic to me with the whole friendzoning thing. I romanced kaidan in me1 and me2 and tried for fun to pick liara in me3 before his citadel date and my shep suddenly calls him a brother ignoring the fact that they slept together and that she basically told him she still loves him on mars.

Yep:

Ashley/Kaidan <-> Liara II
Since Liara's romance kicks in long before the VS returns. And of course - Liara does not respect that former relationship. To be fair: no character really respects a past relationship - even if they're friends.

Ashley <-> Miranda or Jack
Well ... obvious, huh? The fight! Heavy risk, but the priiiize!

Kaidan <-> Jacob
Especially since Jacob cheats on Shepard, Kaidan should have a real issue with him.
Not sure if they could get along.

Kaidan <-> Thane
Think that's going to be interesting, especially since I imagine Thane & Kaidan being friends.

Kaidan <-> Traynor
Losing his girl to a lesbian specialist - ouch ...

Liara <-> everyone else
I can't believe Liara takes a break up that easily. Show some balls, Liara! Fight for your Shep :D

Frankly, I think that if I get back together with Ash, then sleep with Allers, Ash should at least say something about it.

The lack of LI conflicts is another thing that seems rushed with ME3.

I assumed (wrongly) that there would definitely be a love triangle scenario. Adding that tension to an already beleaguered Shep and crew? This game could have used that dynamic.

But, alas. Shepard doesn't give a crap about anyone apparently.

I'd rather have the resources spent on actual romance.

For example.

I'd like to see an option where Shep can go from "pants to pants" - with dire consequences - all of his/her former LIs are no longer interested in any interaction with him except doing the job.

It would have been so much fun ... but nooo ...

Sure, ME isn't about romances. Then again, the series was about characters and not just the Reapers and such. In ME1 and ME2 you had a lot of decent interaction with characters - and in ME3, it got dumbed down. A rush job in more than one way.

A full relationship dynamic is a must have in case ME gets a reboot or a new trilogy.

There is also a confrontation in me1 if you flirt with both vs and Liara at the same time, that kind of thing would have been nice in me3.

I understand they had to limit dialouge because of budget concerns. That might be why we didn't have any kind of LI confrontation.

That or they just didn't have time. Regardless of what Bioware says, I say the game feels like it was rushed. Don't get me wrong - on balance, I think it's a good game when compared to some of the other things that are out there. As a Mass Effect game, however, it lacks in some key areas.

I was just waiting for a proper cat fight to dump Ashley properly...

However, they better first add proper romance content for Miranda before adding such minorities.

I was disappointed when there wasn't an epic biotic cat fight between Miranda and Liara! I mean come on, they both have a colorful history together retrieving Shepard. That would have been epic dialogue!!

I think it would need to be handled maturely. But I do think there should have been something.

I mean, it's just not realistic the way it is now. There should at least be a talk with Shepard about it, and at least one, if not a few, cold moments between the new LI and the old one. Ideally there should be consequences, maybe like CptData laid out, for actively going out of your way to cheat on someone in ME3.

Romanced Liara does react to Shepard+Samantha, by the way.

And the whole thing is done through auto-dialouge, of course.

I admit I was extremely disappointed with the lack of confrontation about romances from ME2 vs ME1. I was expecting some fireworks one way or another considering I romanced Ashley William's in ME1 and romanced Miranda in ME2.

I predicted that Ash would be jealous, aggressive etc but all I got was one line that said 'I don't wear swimsuits to battle, I am human, flaws etc'. I thought it would more of a confrontation than just one line on that one.

I would have thought Ashley Williams might have made some form of comment on the sanctuary mission one way or another but nothing about me doing the deed with Miranda.

I was disappointed as well. I was ready for those huge consequences for not staying faithful to you ME1 LI.

I wanted a Miranda/Ashley discussion. I expected to see the clash betwen ice and fire, the tiger and the dragon. I don't know how none of the writers tought in that, well, neural decay was among them during the writing of ME3.

Yes, those two would be at odds and sometimes at war and I don't think it would take all that much to send them to war since because beyond Shepard, they're at philosophical ends on everything. But I think they'd come to respect each other though as they both value a job well done above everything else. That nothing comes before the mission attitude.

I wanted to see a confrontation though. I wanted Miranda on the Normandy. They might be stuck in hell aboard the SR-2 together, but if they're going to be stuck they might as well keep each other company. :devil:

You know prior to the game's release I was under the impression that there was going to be a love triangle confrontation. But just like some other expectations that were unmet, this never materialized. Lord knows I was waiting for my Liara/Tali catfight, and BioWare failed to deliver.

I agree with DWH. After about 2.5 playthroughs I'm beginning to see more and more aspects of that game that seemed rushed and uninspired. Highly disappointing. I still really like the game, mind you, it's just that like with everything else, it is far from perfect.

I guess I'll have to headcanon my Liara/Tali catfight now. Meow...

swordmalice: yeah - ME1 / ME2 created the basis for a love triangle. It got reduced to some lines in ME3 and that's it.

Why? Why not a full blown confrontation? Why no lifelike reaction? Why do those characters care so little of "being cheated" or "being called for make Shepard cheating" ..

And yeah, Ash-Miri could have been fun. It could have been so much fun ...

Dude. I didn't even romance Ash or Miranda and that confrontation would be something I'd PAY to see. I feel your pain.

BioWare really dropped the ball on this one.

Well I never cheated on Ashley - but I would have created a playthrough with that scenario just for THAT fight.

I'm still sad Miranda is no squadmate. I liked her in ME2. And I missed her attitute in ME3. In case you didn't cheat on Ash, I even can see both hooking up as "battle sisters" of some sort. Of course - only if both can sort out who's giving commands :police:

Same here man. Despite not romancing her I quite enjoyed her character and she was arguably one of the best squadmates in 2. Her appearance in 3 seemed so lacking, especially for Shepards who didn't romance her. Then again, she probably fared better than other ME2 squadmates in 3, but that's another topic.
I have no idea why she couldn't have been a squadmate in 3; hell the Alliance gave Jack a teaching position at one of their most prestigious academies, I'm sure they could overlook the whole second-in-command at Cerberus thing so that she could serve on the Normandy.
Anyway I digress. As stated before I would be willing to shut up and have my money taken for an Ashley/Miranda love triangle argument. Hot damn.

Yeah I am a bit disappointed with it. Mirandas romance is the only one that seems to have consequence.

Ashley <-> Miranda or Jack
Definitively would be a fight. Can't imagine Ash winning though.

Kaidan <-> Jacob
I imagine Kaiden would be uncomfortable until you find Jacob, who has cheated on Shepard. Then I imagine Kaiden trying to comfort Shepard and become the hero.

Kaidan <-> Thane
Again, I think Kaiden would find it awkward. Thane dying, and helping Kaiden with therapy, and is genuinely a nice guy. I think Kaiden would keep his distance from Shepard unless Shepard came back to him.

Kaidan <-> Traynor
Ouch. Kaiden is too much of a **** to joke about getting in for a threesome though.

Liara <-> everyone else
She seems to handle it pretty well if it was broken off in ME1. Traynor she gets really angry which is nice to see.

Ash <-> Tali
They both seem to get sufficiently angry if Shepard has left them after a conversation rather noncommittal.

How does Garrus react to Shep romancing Traynor? It would seem like a breach of trust if Shepard had reacted positively up to this point. Would really dampen the relationship.
