According to rumours the OP is a tool.

See, rumours do not mean anything, so quit trying to start one.

EVERY MP expansion will be free because of the RNG.

I heard NocturnalFox is actually Zachary Levi...
pass it on.

I heard Descy is actually Hello Kitty

Entitled kids.

So if they give you something free, you expect everything to be free? Did you even thank them for the free stuff they gave you before? Games like COD charge $15 for four maps and nothing else. Get over yourself.

That page doesn't cite anything from BioWare. If you believe it, then Nocturnalfox is correct, you are a tool.

The problem with payable MP DLC is not really the fact that its not free. The problem is that it will mess up playability, as it will limit lobby accessibility. If my friend buys it but I don't, we will not be able to play with each other (...online...in the MP), which defeats the purpose of the friends list and the social dynamics built so far.

Why wouldn't you be able to play together?  I downloaded the resurgence, but I suspect if I didn't I'd still see the new characters and weapons being used by other people, I just couldn't unlock them myself.   I don't have a BF3 soldier, but I can play with people who do, ditto with collector rifle etc.

L4D is a good example of a co-op game that the new maps are restricted to people who purchased DLC, so don't think BW wouldn't follow in their footsteps.

Personally, the danger of it being paid is that #1 you won't get all the races/weapons unlocked for free, #2 it can and will fracture the player base which would be another nail in ME3 MPs already closing coffin lid. I still don't have the Battlemaster from the first DLC, and I do not like the RNG Pack system (so won't spend real money on it) so why should I spend money up front to get shafted on back end of the RNG?

The idea behind keeping it free is to sucker more people into dropping money on Packs.

I see Bioware nowhere on that page. I DO see

I wouldn't buy it but there isn't any reason they can't charge.

Yeah, I read the article, it cites the asian Sony marketplace as the source.
Which has been already discredited by Bioware officials.

I never actually called the OP a tool, I said "according to rumours" to show that rumours mean nothing and can be started by anybody.

The magazine has not stated a price and I would accuse them of " dramatic journalism" to get views and comments rather than factual evidence.

It will be free, the MP profit come from packs. It's know, Khaleesi..

The only thing we know for sure about the DLC is that it exist, it will have the vorcha race, and it will probably be announced any time in this month. Any other info is rumor..

I think the real problem with paying for it is that if we don't get rank one of everything immediatly, then there is no guarentee that we will ever unlock the characters or guns due to the RNG system of the store. If i'm not guarenteed the stuff I buy, then I won't spend money on it.

At least translate correctly:
"Other than the Resurgence DLC for Mass Effect, the Rebellion addon will be subject to a charge. Price and release date are still not announced."

And regarding the BW comments: Chris Priestley wrote this:

Chris Priestly wrote...

Sorry folks, this is not true.
There is no ME3 MP DLC coming out tomorrow. This is the internet and you
cannot "unsee" things, but the details in this are not correct.

I am
not going to close this or anything as the rumor will continue to
spread whether I do or not, but please refer people to my post here when
it comes up.

We will have more information on ME3 MP DLC in the future, I hope later this month, but nothing more to be said now.

Also this thread does not say it is 100% sure it will come with a price tag. I am saying it would pretty much show the first DLC was just a PR move, because there is no content difference between the two.

It is EA. If they thought they could get away with charging money for a patch to fix the bugs they would.

There are micro transactions, it'd be a great move to release paid dlc, because it be the fairer thing to do. Sarcasm meter: Detected.
Seriously a game with micro transactions should never release paid DLC, that would be awful.
Wait a minute this is EA.
I'm an idiot. But wait wasn't the Resurgence supposed to cost something? Like 4 bucks or something outragoues like that?

As many have said, it is probably the Pack microtransactions that are allowing the DLC to be free. remember as long as something ADDS new content, it is technically worth money, our getting it for free is a big thing (especially for EA).

It would be odd for them to charge more than $2 for 2 maps. (The guns and characters arent bought, they're simply added to the store)

True, but I wouldn't put it past EA to put a price tag on it. Depends on how much they're getting from pack micro transactions. Personally If it costs, I may get it depending on how many of my friends from here pick it up, it's the only reason I'd consider it. If not then no point for me to do so really, the majority of Gold matches I've played as of late are frustratingly tedious with half the team not knowing what to do. (Despite being told to let infiltrators cap points or not to go revive that Vanguard on the otherside of the map who keeps getting downed.)

Quite frankly, it doesn't make sense for it to be paid DLC. They'd make a lot more money from the microtransactions than they would from the one time purchase.

Either way, they could just go the TF2 route... Where you have to have the content downloaded but not able to access it until you purchase/luckily get it :| I don't see why that's a problem.

And as far as this topic goes, some people here stated something about splitting the fan base. I can't really see them charging as well. I'm pretty sure they wont... I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

I know, what i meant was Creating this content(new maps/guns/coding/models/ etc.) is Bioware's job and a job is for getting paid, as long as they do a good job, they deserve to get paid, this is what the microtransactions pay for.
