Some developers like CD Project (Witcher) do stuff like this constantly FOR FREE

Sorry, but that's nonsense. They did it once with the original Witcher. Everything they did for Witcher 2, however, was simply developing the console version and pushing bug fixes and additional content(for the console version) to PC users as well.
No additional work required.

Don't get me wrong, I like CDP as much as the next guy, but people should stop with the glorifying. It was an easy way to get some consumer good will that required almost no work at all and they took it.

@Rebellion: I wouldn't mind shelling out some bucks for it. Some as in 5, tops. If they charge more, they can keep it as it isn't worth more than 5$.

Entitled kids.

So if they give you something free, you expect everything to be free? Did you even thank them for the free stuff they gave you before? Games like COD charge $15 for four maps and nothing else. Get over yourself.

The difference in CoD is there is no random unlock system for weapons. It's all achievent based or micro-transaction. Big difference. Mass Effect is totally random unlocks, even for cash money. This means if you pay for extra content you are not assured  of getting it at any point (save maps). It is totally possible to get nothing but repeat character cards every pack and never unlock a weapon or mod upgrad, unlikely but possible. When such a chance exists of getting nothing out of virtual slot machine, you should be able to see how reticent people are to pay a door charge to the casino... on top of what they already paid to get into town (the game) and may possibly drop at the slots (packs) themselves.

It is the uncertainty caused by the Random Number Generator (and lack of bug fixes) that make many here balk at paying more money into a system that is still broken in many ways.

The difference in CoD is that CoD is for annoying, juvenile little kids.

Fixed. :wizard:

No that´s not correct, but that´s not the point of this thread anyway. I could have also mentioned TF2.

The only thing you get immediately are the maps. It´s a pretty stupid system of random unlocks. Why not make every weapon ingame seperately purchaseable? I am sure we would pay 500k credits for the certainty of getting the ultra rare we want instead of ending up with endless character cards or weapons we don´t use anyway (shotguns and SMGs for me)

from my understanding the dlc there bring out are free since they make enough money though the pack purchases.

I'd be amazed if they charge for it, it seems they have their bases covered with Bioware points towards packs, rather than DLC. I for one bought points when the last one was released, and I'll likely do so again.

I susupect it will be free, supported by people who are purchasing packs.

Free is always nice but they have given a lot of free stuff as it is so if this is a payable DLC, considering how much fun and joy this game brought to my life I'll gladly pay for it. Now I won't mention any names (cough Atari) but I've seen companies charge money for DLC's that intentionally broke the game. Mass Effect 3 is a real treat and if they want to charge money for DLC's I personally think it's money well earned and well spent.

I would be very surprised if they released any paid dlc before the EC dlc.

If it comes with a price tag I certainly won't be purchasing it. ME3 Multiplayer is fun, but it's buggy as hell and Bioware have done nothing in the past two months to patch it. I'm not paying for a beta.

This, oh god this

ME3MP DLCs will always be free i guess.
You can't play the MP normally without the DLC(resurgence) anymore.

BW would have to seperate the servers for players with and players without the dlc. You won't be able to play with the opposite side anymore. That will never happen.

If they charge for Rebellion Dlc it would divide the community.
Maps - would have to kick people if you wanted to play new maps, difficult to get a group of 4, new maps would eventually become "ghost" maps.
Chracters/weapons - not going to spend money & then imaginary money with no guarantee that we unlock the characters/weapons!
Unless Rebellion packs are released which have high probability of unlocking characters/weapons.

Not only was there no mention of a cost yet, but how etitled can you be? I got this for free so everything should be for free. OP really erked me.

that's what I'm saying.

instead of "hey, thanks for the first one being free"

it's "cry cry entitled to this entiteld to that"

this behavor makes folks not want to be nice the first time.

There is no entitlement here. It WILL be free because of the RNG.

The way BW made the game only gives them so many options, charging for it will see them lose, especially over the next few months with so many other good games coming out.

According to rumours it will cost something this time.

I hope it will cost nothing, but given that this is EA, I will remain catious.

So... just in case a rumor that has no weight isn't false, you preemptively wrote up this thread, poll included, angrily shaking your fist at an evil overlord who would dare think of charging you money for a luxury product they funded?

I'm glad you're not in the legal system.

I can shake my fist wherever I want *shakes fist*. The poll is just out of curiosity. And yes daring to charge money for something I will not recieve right away (weapons, races) IS just wrong. That´s like buying a burger at McDonalds and then the guy says "Oh yeah first you have to take out the trash for us and clean our windows. Then MAYBE you get your burger." If you don´t agree with me there you are already indoctrinated.

The dumb, it burns us!

MP DLC will be free for ME3 since people (like me) spend the occasional 20 bucks or so on PSP's and SP's. I accept that my actions pay for other peoples DLC, but I also know it gives BW the incentive to make more content.

Hell no. All this pay to play DLC stuff does for multiplayer is segregate the community. You'll end up with servers supporting those who do have the DLC, and others who don't. The MP community is already dwindling slowly - don't need a DLC pack to do it even more.

If it comes with a price tag I certainly won't be purchasing it. ME3 Multiplayer is fun, but it's buggy as hell and Bioware have done nothing in the past two months to patch it. I'm not paying for a beta.

Yeah this guy gets it. But bro, we've gotta keep in mind that EA is in charge here. I wouldn't be suprised if they actually did charge for it. Which is, as we've already stated, completely retarded but hey! Greed over brains.

OP should go lie down. charging for DLC is hardly a novelty and should be regarded as an established revenue-stream for companies of this sort. Of course one might choose not to buy it. I don't think that's a fact that hasn't been anticipated. Of course this will segregate the MP - probably causing numbers of players to dwindle in a more rapid rate. This has probably also gone into the business model. Every product has a lifetime.

The first DLC being free was probably just a fail safe to handle the immediate **** storm that came from some internet-born-mob-mentality regarding the ending. I don't think however, that they're in any "danger" anymore regarding the average casual gamers take on things - you know the people that never fire up the computer to check out this kind of forum - and so things will probably go back to normalcy. Meaning stuff will cost money, as stuff often does.
