I'm willing to pay a group of talented and hard working engineers that are producing more content for a really good game that I really enjoy playing. They already did one MP DLC for free and trust me, these things cost a LOT of money, so thank you for that.

If there's no money in it they will stop and move on to something else. (Especially since everyone on this forum seems to be very proud of the fact that they've not spent a cent of real money because it's easy enough to farm FBWGG ;-)

And remember, even bug fixes cost a lot of money that someone have to pay for. Look at the Standish Chaos report stats: 50 000+ software project over the last 10 years. Only 30% successful, 50% required serious rework, 20% was abandoned. It's not as easy a buying a MacD Burger and really not as simple as saying 'the customer is always right'. Just talking as someone with some experience in the field.

Actually, I almost hope they would charge a fee. Not because I'd buy it, (god no) but because the forum explosion would be hilarious.Posted Image

most of the content we do get dont cost money they cost time, maps and models etc are things joe average at home has managed well enough on unrealtournament/quake/plenty of shooters, they didnt have heaps of cash just the time and effort to do so and these require no "patches".

the $$/££ will come from coding changes/patches to the game itsself that actually change stuff and fix things (which hasnt happened yet), the "weekly multiplayer balance changes" thing doesnt fall into this as its just some minor tweaked weapon values we aquire when hooking up to multiplayer.

the only thing id really pay for multi player wise is a full new 100% mode

i enjoy the multi player and thats coming from someone who hates every other kind on any game

i also wouldnt mind paying for a extinct species pack dlc wich would automaticly unlock when i pick a class

like others have said, i doubt we'll have to pay for the dlc...to charge for it splits your community cause everyone not gonna wanna pay for it, so it limits who can play with who....i think it'll be just like the other one: it'll be free to download, but we'll have to unlock the new weapons/characters...which is smart cause it keeps people playing to unlock those...and for the ones that dont wanna wait, those microtransactions to upgrade weapons/characters, is making them money

The biggest problem with paid multiplayer DLC is that it can very easily split the player base. Mass Effect is already a successful franchise, but it's just now starting to build a multiplayer following. Paid multiplayer DLC means that some people may buy it while others may not. Those that don't won't be able to play with those that do, and may in fact stop playing the multiplayer entirely. Either way, it could significantly reduce the number of players that others can play with, meaning longer waits to get into a game.

This is part of why lots of publishers and developers are starting to do "season pass" type things that give you access to all future multiplayer DLC. It ensures that there will always been at least some large group of players with access to all of the content on offer, which means everyone will be able to play with each other. Call Of Duty: Elite's premium service or Rockstar's new Season Pass are good examples. Is this a "fair" business practice? Maybe not. But it's helpful when it comes to keeping a game afloat.

My hope is that BioWare and EA have considered all of these things and plan to keep all multiplayer DLC for ME3 free, at least for now. Like I said, this is already a popular franchise. But as far as online games go, it's dealing with a lot of competition. The community surrounding the multiplayer portion needs to be very strong before they should really start risking releasing paid DLC.

Personally, I hate Vorchas, so I'm not going to paid for it (if that is the case).
I also belive that Bioware set the bar pretty high with ME2 DLC... Content like that is worth paying; the rest should be only complementary onion rings with your cheeseburger, in order to keep you eating there.

PS: What is a Phoenix Adept?

If they put a price on it, it will be way too high. I will not pay.

Paid DLC? Will sell less than the SP/PSP packs.

Not an ideal world and everything can happen, but it's just a smarter thing to do.

For people who are unconvinced that Bioware employees won't work for free - they don't. Money comes from various sources, frequently not very obvious...

If its Paid DLC - Everything (characters/weapons) should be unlocked and ready to use and able to level up. Simple as that.
If the player has to play missions and buy specter packs to unlock characters and weapons, the DLC will most likely generate allot of ill will toward EA/Bioware. Simple as that

I bet it will be free. The point is not just about splitting the community, if it will cost money they will lose many players, so less microtransations in store. Add to that the fact that the game is already bugged enough so i cannot imagine what would happen if the system had to find a lobby that you can join according to your registered content.

Stopped reading at "rumors".

Maybe you should wait until we get some confirmed information before making these kinds of threads.

Hell no. All this pay to play DLC stuff does for multiplayer is segregate the community. You'll end up with servers supporting those who do have the DLC, and others who don't. The MP community is already dwindling slowly - don't need a DLC pack to do it even more.

If it comes with a price tag I certainly won't be purchasing it. ME3 Multiplayer is fun, but it's buggy as hell and Bioware have done nothing in the past two months to patch it. I'm not paying for a beta.

This.

And OP, are you retarded?

There has been no confirmation, or trailer. And little to no word on Rebellion from BioWare. You need to chill bro.

Does EA think the sh*tstorm has calmed and they can do whatever they like again? Was the first free DLC just some propaganda and a PR move?

Yes. Yes.

Free is always nice but they have given a lot of free stuff as it is so if this is a payable DLC, considering how much fun and joy this game brought to my life I'll gladly pay for it. Now I won't mention any names (cough Atari) but I've seen companies charge money for DLC's that intentionally broke the game. Mass Effect 3 is a real treat and if they want to charge money for DLC's I personally think it's money well earned and well spent.

are you going to buy dlc for this game because I know most people wouldn't bother they don't even bother buying the packs.

If it's payable I will.  I think the game delivers endless amounts of fun and I believe it's important to support the very thing that brings you entertainment.  They already gave us a free DLC so paying for the next one would be my way of showing appreciation and hoping it inspires more maps, weapons, characters, etc to be made in the future.   I recently contacted EA about an expired cerberus network redeem code and they responded back within an hour telling me they already added it to my account since I purchased the ME2 CE back in January 2010.  My experience with EA is the complete opposite of what I read everywhere.  I have no complaints especially since I contacted Atari about a game a little while ago before ME3 was released and they took 7 days to respond with nothing helpful and just closed my ticket without giving me a chance to respond.  With EA that wasn't the case at all and then I see all these negative reviews about EA which makes no sense from the experience I had getting support from them. I really can care less if most people don't bother buying packs either cause that's their choice.  I buy them with in-game credits and have a blast.  I just spent a million on jumbo packs:O

No he said it will not come out today. He did not deny such a DLC existed, which is as we all know an indirect confirmation.

I'd be willing to pay some for MP DLC, I've had a lot of fun with it and would probably shell out a few bucks to unlock some new classes or somesuch.

That said, I really hope they don't charge for maps, that's gonna screw things up when trying to play with people who haven't bought in.

My hope is that the packs-with-real-money option is funding things well enough to pay for free map releases.

I think that MP-DLC will always be free, because you can use money to purchase packs and a lot of ppl will do. It's like the free to play games. so they earn money anyway

Honestly, I don't think they'll charge for the DLC, because they've already got a market in place which uses real dollars (or lots of your time), so I'm assuming they'll stick with that.

However, if they DO charge real money, I'd honestly expect more in the way of bug fixes and optimizations before I'd spend, because as it is, the bugs and exploits I run into on a constant basis annoy me enough that I have to tell myself the MP is a free side project for Bioware. It's not that I don't appreciate (and understand) the amount of time Bioware obviously puts into MP, but if I'm paying money for it, I want it to be a LOT more polished than it is right now (look at one of the Gears of War games as an example).

Even though nothing's been confirmed, if Bioware/EA want to charge for it then that's seem fair enough to me. They've given us DLC for nothing plus they give us packs on a regular basis too. Asking for money for some additional content seems completely fair to me. Yeah, given a choice I'd take it for free but I wouldn't mind paying either.

i have already stated im not purchasing anything anymore to do with bioware/EA, i'll take the free stuff as ME3 was awfull before the ending and the MP is buggy as hell, so no if it costs then im pretty bored of the horde mode anyway so it would give me even more reason to not wanna play ME3.
