Guys, this DLC won't cost anything, I am pretty convinced about that. Why? Because they released a game that (in MP) wasn't finished to start with. I guess the MP is way more popular then they anticipated and that BW tries to keep us entertained with releasing DLC's. They won't charge us for content that should have been in the game when they released it.

I will buy new DLC when the game I already purchased works properly.

I wouldn't even consider purchasing MP DLC that worked like the previous DLC in that it gave me the opportunity to farm credits to unlock the new content.

The problem with payable MP DLC is not really the fact that its not free. The problem is that it will mess up playability, as it will limit lobby accessibility. If my friend buys it but I don't, we will not be able to play with each other (...online...in the MP), which defeats the purpose of the friends list and the social dynamics built so far.

Why wouldn't you be able to play together?  I downloaded the resurgence, but I suspect if I didn't I'd still see the new characters and weapons being used by other people, I just couldn't unlock them myself.   I don't have a BF3 soldier, but I can play with people who do, ditto with collector rifle etc.

L4D is a good example of a co-op game that the new maps are restricted to people who purchased DLC, so don't think BW wouldn't follow in their footsteps.

Actually when the resurgance DLC came out.. I had it downloaded and a friend of mine didn't. I tried to join a game with said friend and was prevented from joining that friend because of a content mismatch. I had the Resurgance pack, and the friend did not. I wasn't playing any character from the DLC nor were we trying to play on a map from the DLC. So there it is.  If you have the DLC and someone else doesn't you can't play with that person.

I won't pay, considering I have to unlock the characters/weapons through packs anyway.

If they guarantee that you will unlock, let's say 2 characters (from the 6 new one), then probably I'll buy it, but otherwise I agree with Master Xanthan.

most of the content we do get dont cost money they cost time, maps and models etc are things joe average at home has managed well enough on unrealtournament/quake/plenty of shooters, they didnt have heaps of cash just the time and effort to do so and these require no "patches".

Yea, I know, I did a pretty nice mod for STALKER once.  Just simple weapons.  It took me around 40 hours to do it properly.  Guess how much I would have charged for that if I did it as part of my job.  I'm pretty sure the ME Software engineers are not doing the DLCs for free.  Time=money.

But I also susspect it will be free, making this argument moot.  I'm just saying if this does not make business sense anymore they will stop working on it.  Unless anyone wants to argue with me that EA is a non proffit charity ;-)  There are situations where a community pays for something by putting in free time to make it better, I don't think this applies here.  I'm just getting tired of everyone whining about what is basically a really good single player game with a surprisingly good multiplayer component where all sorts of new content is being added continiously.

If you like a game and emjoy playing it pay for the dlc. If you don't then don't. To be honest I fully expect to get ripped off by just about every company who is in the business of making money (read every company). Tis the nature of the beast. Would I pay? Yeah I guess I would..cuz I'm a fan for better or worse.

They would not likely make any more money charging for the DLC than releasing it free, becauae the new content creates a surge in microtransaction purchases. If only a limited number of people have access to the new packs ( if they aren't obligated to give all the content immediately) then there will be less lucrative microtransaction sells. Long term the playerbase divides and shrinks and EA loses money. This isn't COD, with an enormous and mostly undiscriminating consumer base with no microtransaction system where paid dlc is a great way to make cash, its a less established MP player base, and has a system to make money that incentivizes providing free new content to drive up in game purchases. The very reason we complain about EA is the reason the DLC will be free. eA wants to make money off of this.

EVERY MP expansion will be free because of the RNG.

Remember who we are dealing with here: The same guys who sold us the day 1 DLC. I remain catious. EA have to make money and they COULD feel safe now that the EC and Resurgence was/will be free, so who knows....

I'd buy it if everything was unlocked already. All characters and character options and weapons usable right after purchase. And have weapon upgrades unlockable by packs.

But if you have to buy the DLC and still have to buy packs and pray you unlock something new I won't buy it. That wouldn't be worth it.

Why??? You are paying the full price for the DLC if there will be any cost. So why only part unlocks. Sorry but everything has to be unlocked if any cost is involved here.

Oh, you're one of those people...any hint of paid DLC (which Rebellion won't be) and you're making a call to arms, class action lawsuits, etc. etc...

The evidence speaks in my favour. The last words of the ME franchise at it stands are "downloadable content". So yes I am right to "call to arms". Do you seriously think we would have gotten the MP DLC for free if no one or very little people complained about the ending? Of course not. It was all a PR move to calm, the sheep...ehm nerves. And as I can see it worked.

And with that I guess you are one of those people...people who can´t see the truth. After the EC it will be over with any sort of "love" from EA . They will say "We gave you what you wanted, now shut up and give us money" The history of EAs DLC policy is evidence enough and with the From Ashes DLC you don´t even have to go look far.

Entitled kids.

So if they give you something free, you expect everything to be free? Did you even thank them for the free stuff they gave you before? Games like COD charge $15 for four maps and nothing else. Get over yourself.

Why would anyone pay for a DLC that gives you a charachter/weapon add to your packs that for all you know you'll never ever get anyways? :innocent:

The Rebellion Multiplayer Expansion opens two new fronts against the Reapers: Firebase Jade's jungle reservoir and Firebase Goddess on Thessia. In-game reinforcement packs now include three new weapons as well as equipment, consumables, and six new classes: Quarian Engineer and Infiltrator, Vorcha Soldier and Sentinel, Phoenix Adept and Vanguard. The battle continues – hold the line

huh?

If I purchase it and get all of the characters and weapons unlocked to max then maybe I would buy it, but I I have to get them through packs then I won't. Why would I buy something I may never unlock.

There's no reason for it to be free. So long as it doesn't stop those who don't buy it from playing free maps with those who have bought it, I see no problem here. The problem would be having bought it, and being unable to play with a friend who hasn't bought it, even if it's on a vanilla map. That would just be idiotic, although I wouldn't put it past them. My expectations are not exactly high these days when it comes to EA and Bioware.
