Hello, I'm just going to give a bit of background.  My friend and I are roommates in college, and we have been for the past 2 years. Whenever I've gotten games for the XBox, he's always been there to play them as well.  He was actually the person who got me started with playing bioware games by getting me to play baldur's gate 2.  Needless to say when Dragon Age Origins was announced he was just as excited as I was.

Buying the game and getting all the DLC I could at the moment for it, we both began our epic quests.  Unfortunately, our time between classes and other activities isn't so great that either of us has finished the game yet.  When the Edge was announced, I rushed to make sure I got it so we could both benefit from it.

It was supposed to be just some more DLC, something BOTH of us could use - but it seems that it was only something that was supposed to be for my benefit since I bought the game.  Fine, that would have been acceptable had it been the case.  But twice now, it has given him the edge in game, for no reason, only to tell him when next he signed in that he's not allowed to load his game anymore because he has The Edge in it.

While I understand that The Edge is supposed to be a benefit for the buyer, should be treated as all other DLC and be usable by anyone who is on that xbox.  It is stupid, and cruel, to make someone shove around 40+ hours probably down the ****hole.  Please just make it so that The Edge is treated as a normal DLC product, or if benevolence isn't in your taste, at least fix your code so it doesn't randomly decide he can have it one day and not the next!  I would never have downloaded it if I had known that it would do this to his games.

Is his profile logged into EA.com, that's how the Edge is given to you when you log in the servers with your xbox. You can also transfer the rights off of the Xbox site.

I just logged into his profile, and it is connected to the dragon age servers. It says he cannot load because he doesn't have the storage device with The Edge on it selected. However, if I'm signed in, it says under my downloadable content that I have the edge, and I've selected that device.

There is no techincal error at my end. It's just saying he doesn't.

I've found a way around this, though. If I sign in, and THEN he signs in, it allows him to have the edge. But we shouldn't have to go through these god damned hoops so that he can play >_<.

Try playing connected to live, it sucks but DLC usually works that way.

He has been connected to xbox live EVERY TIME. The only means of allowing him to play now is if he logs in as me first, lets it connect to the servers, then logs out and logs in as himself. It's stupid.

I agree with you, makes it hard to share.

Try having him play while YOU are logged in via the 2nd controller. Similar issues with DL'd Rock Band songs. My wife can play them on her account as long as I'm logged into the xbox.

Hmm... try disconnecting from Xbox Live, then load the game on your account. See if you can still access "The Edge." If not, you probably don't have the actual license for the item downloaded to your console, so it only knows you can use it because it's on your online profile. If it's not on his and not on the console, then it won't work properly, even (or perhaps especially) if he is signed in to his EA account. There are instructions floating around for how to get all the licenses onto your console. Try those.

i have the same issue but i'm the one who owns the the game and the account as well as the xbox of course. if i'm disconnect from xbox live for too long the edge item disappears from my hdd and renders my game unplayable until i connect into the xboxlive service, also when i first got the edge it never gave me the option to download it just said downloaded, does this mean the edge only exists on your hdd if your connected to they xbox live service, if so i find that highly annoying since i switch the modem between my computer and my xbox, (no im not getting a router)

This.

If you never force-downloaded "The Edge", then you don't have the license on your hard drive, which means your friend's profile can only use it after you've logged in and authenticated it from the DA servers. You can fix this by deleting Promo Item Pack 2 and downloading "The Edge" directly while logged in on your profile. To save yourself similar headaches with other promotional DLC, you might force-download all your other items, too. Once you get all the necessary licenses, all profiles on that Xbox will be able to use the DLC without connecting to the DA servers.
