On the flipside of this discussion - I had a girl in my team last night - just a random pug silver. I was only level 10 and the rest of the team were in the high teens. I topped the group by quite a margin (because the team frankly were awful) and the girl starts mouthing off abuse and saying I must have no life to be able to top the group with only a level 10. In short, being obnoxious is not gender dependent - there just happens to be more male players, hence more obnoxious males proportionally.

I've never run into anyone that's been a douche on mic. Everyone that I've heard talk has been rather pleasant Although, I've never heard a girl talk while playing. Maybe they would act like asses if they heard one. I play on PS3.

That may be true but people shouldn't generalize an entire gender as a whole or judge them without even knowing what they are like. My friend is a friendly person and she can join games and get hated at for no reason other than her gender which I fail to see the reasoning behind. People should just think before they say and stop hating for no reason.

I know. It is wrong. All I am saying is that it is not that different from other hate out there. They will probably end up bad at life and nobody will care about them. It is actually sad. Complaining because of them will never fix this problem, it only gives them reasons to troll more, because they see that they actually made someone very mad. And that is trolls purpose

*shrugs* Both guys and girls can be ****s on live. Met one particularly nasty girl on CoD (big surprise there for me) who decided to talk smack. Ended up going with about half as many kills and deaths (I had to listen to this wannabe Banshee all game) and started crying cheater in the pre-game lobby.
Likewise I've had guys hit on me in the most obnoxious ways possible. I learned to mute the desperate flirts during my Halo 3 time.
Overall it's not too bad of a problem, and I know there are true gentlemen and ladies out in the live community. The key is running into them =P

You assume women can't handle the same jokes/crap talk that guys give each other every day. But whatever. I have one girl in particular on my friends list who can take anything and dish it right back, and god she's awesome. I blamed my friend for causing a wipe when he left for ammo. He said she died first and she proceeded to compliment him on his huge e-d*ck.

I can only imagine the gasps I'd get if you kids saw the message I sent her that made her friend request me. Oh well, if treating women the same way I treat guys is wrong, I'm guilty.

Mass Effect is such a sexist game, i'm not surprised not many women play.

Actually, Mass Effect has a pretty diverse fanbase. Yeah, the sexism is blatant. Personally, when I think too much about it, I feel like punching someone in the teeth.

However, it also has plenty of good, interesting and even sexy male characters. Sure they are not sexified to the point of ridicule like females are, but even if it was unintentional, I think the resulting male characters have helped many female players stay.

Ive rarely come across anyone using there mic to just make nice conversation, amazed yesterday went into a bronze lobby with 2 american women, one even apologised if she was annoying me, had no mic then so sent a message that they weren't
