In spite of many topics, threads, and post spewing hatred against points system, I want to be the brave out and come out with a conffession.

I check the score often during game.

Between waves I check, after killstreak I check. I check it all the time. And I am not ashamed of it.
Yes, I know that certain classes will always be points-crippled but still I judge my preformace and usefulness for the team on medals and points aquired.

Who's with me!?

I check score also to make sure I'm making a difference. I don't go all ragemode when I see others are ahead of me though.

I check because I'm so hyper competitive that even in a game that is not PvP, I MUST BEAT ALL OF THE PLAYERS

Yup, I do that a lot. If I'm not doing well I'll try to work harder to make up for my lack of effectiveness. Plus it's a good tool to see how other players are fairing when we're not close. If they have a lot of points they're doing well, but if they're lacking they could be having some problems.

I only tend to do it if A) We seem to be struggling or B) I feel like I'm playing super well... Sometimes C) When I'm dragging people through waves...

I'll admit, I do it too.

As you say, it's not a competitive thing, more of a "I hope I'm not too far behind if I'm at the bottom of the list."

I check it sometimes, usually to see how well I'm contributing to overall killing.

Sometimes I do that but more often I pull it up because I had forgotten what wave we were on.

When leveling up after promote I check but only on bronze. Not because Im competitive but if Im top scorer due to having played more I will start spamming power to soften up targets to allow new players get the kill. I keep it up till I drop down to last as it really means nothing but is ego boost for newbs so it makes me feel better about going back to bronze.

Although if high n7 player on map raking up all points all bets are off and I go all out Krogan kill mode.

I do sometimes, especially when I'm trying out a new damage focused build. I avoid looking at it when I'm doing more of a support role.

As much as I know it doesn't matter, it's a scoreboard. And this is a video game. And since plunking my first quarter into a Galaga machine in the early 80s, games have taught me that score matters.

I check after every wave just to make sure I'm doing my part, and to see who on the team is performing really well. I always look at players' loadouts before matches and sometimes I'm curious as to how well they're doing with whatever they're running. It helps me prioritize who to rez when people start dying as well. Also, I frequently lose track of the wave count and have to update myself.

I do, but mostly as a check on whether I need to step up my game or not.

I check after every kill, assist, or objective done. This has translated into a concern that I cannot pay attent...

I didn't do it much before but recently I started doing more often just to see if any free-loaders are hanging around after many waves and with a score of 0.

Yes, while its nice to see one topping the ranking a successful extraction and good team work to back it all up is the most important thing for me. In fact, I would gladly forfeit the top score if it meant having several consecutive rounds with an awesome team that know what the heck they are doing.
