I like Kaidan; he's human. Jacob being human has nothing to do with why I don't like him.Landon7001 wrote...

wished i coulda recruited jacob in me 3 but i thought his wrap up was fitting, he started a family and became a father himself and protected other cerberus ppl that were just like he was before in his gradual realization about cerberus and leaving.......though yes some of his dialouge sounded odd, the voice acting, in me 3 and yes his romance, though i really didnt care about that, couldve been handled alot better
but which writers said that and in what context?

First off I will have to admit...I found Jacob unappealing during my first gameplay, but I was won over by multiple playthroughs that, le gasp, Im one of those femsheps that actually romanced him.
I could rant on abuot how he reminds me of every black male in my life that wants to be a positive role model with or without daddy issues he is trying to deal with while not having over the top crazy missions.
He was normal and safe and just what I needed...until me3 rolled in.
Let's just say I felt like I was watching Maury Povich without a renegade interrupt to punch in Jacob or push whats her name down a flight of stairs. I mean if we're gonna go into wtf-ville with this I might as well play the crazy black woman card to a T.
But since I can't.....Jacob how could you?

You can't romance Jacob in ME3.

yeah the character killings via email and twitter really annoyed me too . I was looking forward to hanging out with Emily Wong again, I was hoping Rana was going to be useful and not just get turned into a Banshee, I wanted to see Mornith not as a Banshee was well. I was hoping to work more with Kal'Reegar maybe even have him as a Squadmate he would have been great to have if Tali died on the suicide mission. And the biggest hole that annoys me the most is that Bioware said there would be more information about the background of the Keepers. I have not seen or heard anything new about them in ME 3 and I really was looking forward to hearing about their origins. Now we will never know.Rickets wrote...

Jacob is a great pall and he means much to me, much more than Grunt or James will ever mean to me.
People call him boring, I call him down-to-earth.
Seriously, must every party-member have a mental issue?
Jacob is the only one who doesn't whine about his problems, and even after his shocking daddy-thing (his Loyalty Mission is by far the best one in my eyes) he takes it like a real man. Focuses on the mission, deals with his own problems, doesn't need a pseudo-mentalist's shoulder to cry on.
And how is he useless in combat?
After Grunt, he has by far the most HP (barrier not counted).
And his pull saved my ass A LOT of times.
Only thing I agree about is that his romance in ME3 was screwed up.
In ME2, apart from the famous Prize-Thing, his romance was actually pretty sweet.Bear in mind that he was the only one who literally said that he loved Shep.
Neither Garrus nor Thane did that.
I could write a lot more, but I think I made I clear.
I like him and I don't feel ashamed for it.
People who call him the most useless and forgetable person in the franchise are pretty much always hypocretical, because most of the time the quote him in the same sentence.
I don't think anyone in ME2 has had so many memorable lines as he did.
And the most useless person is definitely not him, its Diana:sick:

well if it makes u feel any better all of my real life mass effect peeps like jacob, in fact i was completely oblivious to any jacob hate until i got on these forums......mass effect, and more specifically me 2 would be worse off w/o him, while not my favorite character he is up there and behind miranda, the suicide mission at end, and overall writing of me 2 in general, he is a main reason me 2 is so good IMO, for me.....behind him-well just all the other great chracters introduced in me 2

Jacob defines a normal human being. Of course, in a world of Calibrating Turians, psycho asari who **** so good people die, (Morinth ftw), racist poetry writing latinas and robots with camel toes, normal human being isn't really what is being looked for. He does what he does in ME2 (Not that much) and in 3 he cheats (Human nature to give into desire). So he's...normal. Which people don't like. IMO he's a decently round character, who represents a real person.
(Also, would people please shut up about in-combat usefulness when talking about characters?)
This made me LOL. Exactly my thoughts on Jacob.

jacob is a MAIN character in me2 and next in command after miranda, thats why hes in all those post recruitment comm room cut scenes
Well actually let put it this way
Shepard is in command.
Shepard --> everyone, including every single piece of life and material in Normandy
Miranda second command or not?
Miranda --> can command Jacob and other cerberus crew, but thats it, no other crew member will obey her.
Jacob?
Jacob can command those random cerberus crew members.
Second squad command rights would be for Garrus. Because he is most experienced with Zaeed ofc, not single squadmember trust Miranda or Jacob and you never cannot command someone if they disobey
