Am I upset? Nope. Would I have happily accepted a free equipment pack? Yup.

Nah, I did my part, helped some newcomers adjust to gold, and experimented with various anti-reaper builds with other classes.

Besides, I expect Operation: Kill some Geth will make up for it in a few weeks.

On their blog and in the announcements:

Chris Priestly wrote...

Re: Operation SILENCER

Confidentiality classification: XB-PRIME

Distribution: N7 Forces Only

Soldiers of the Milky Way –

It is with great regret that I must announce the withdrawal of forces from
several colonies in asari space. Reinforcing them proved untenable.
While Operation SILENCER inflicted substantial casualties, the Reapers
learned from our victories against the brutes, and they now know how to
protect their own.

Rest assured that we too are learning from
this conflict. Already, we are implementing plans to supply our forces
with a better arsenal so that, when we next meet the enemy, they are
ours. Until your next deployment, keep calm and carry on. We will pay
the Reapers back soon enough.

nope. victory pack sucks ass. it should be more worth it. or just give us a credit bonus for next week instead. i'm sure that would make everyone strive a LOT harder. and not some 5 or 10% cred bonus. im talking 25%-30%

"It is with great regret ..."

Typically, this isn't associated with victory.

See below:

"It is with great regret that we give you this promotion"
"It is with great regret that you get a 10% raise"
"It is with great regret that we award you $1,000,000"
"It is with great regret that we give you a bonus"
"It is with great regret that we announce our new profit sharing perk"

No, not bothered. What with the bugs, the disconnects, the "wall" of the RNG, the rather uninspired nature of the victory packs, and so on I didn't really throw myself into the weekend.

Bioware shouldn't be shocked either.

If Operation Silencer wasn't going to conflict with Mother's Day I would of been on a lot more, but there's nothing more important than the person that brought you in to this world.

Probably in the minority, but this is how I feel it should be too.  No victory, no commendations.  Try harder next time.

Meh, I finally made the jump out of firebase white over this. It was worth it in terms of confidence. Thought Gold would be harder, honestly.

I like the loose attempt at keeping the story mode going. Heck you can't win them all. Although kids these day do feel they are entitled to success.

The only thing I'm disappointed in is the lack of kill numbers. How many did we get? Did we really only get 1.5 million phantoms if so why did we get a task of 3million banshee. Perhaps the reward was another free dlc and now we must pay because of our collective failure?

No. I didn't think we'd get 3 million anyway. Not sure why they thought we could given the 1.5 phantom goal.  Odd.

I'm gutted, to tell the truth. I don't care about the Victory Pack, but I love the involvement the events bring and I put in many hours more than I would usually trying to hammer as many Banshees into oblivion as I could. Now it transpires my efforts were for naught. Yeah, I'm bummed.

However, I'm not surprised. Most players just want the good weapons. So a choice between a Victory Pack (which is also reliant on everyone else pulling their weight and therefore not guaranteed) that contains junk or a Commendation Pack that gives you an N7 weapon, no questions asked, is an easy one.

They should really make an effort to tie the two goals together. For example, if the Squad Goal had been Full Extraction vs Reapers we may have succeeded. As it was, the World and his wife jumped on FBWGG until they got that Full Extraction.

A shame. Still, bring on the next one!

I wonder what happens when we fail a weekend op. I mean in the whole "multiplayer continuity" thing, like with the next op, no victory pack is no big loss. I wonder if we will have to face more banshees or something

commendation pack is a squad goal for your squad performing a challenge
Victory pack is for the community performing a challenge

Why would you not get 1 if you didn't get the other? its 2 separate challenges no tied together. its like saying if we did kill 3 mil but you didn't get a full extraction on gold they shouldn't give you a victory pack?

I think we should still get the commendation packs because they were two separate goals. That's not fair to the people that accomplished the gold extract. :police:
