I personally would like confirmation if Bioware did indeed screw us out of the commendation pack because of the pointless community goal. I there's some unwritten rule that they made, I'd like to know. Or is their way of telling us that going to be not to say anything, and come Saturday, we draw our own conclusions?

If that's going to be the case, I'll probably reconsider putting this game into my system again.

I'll just buy a Recruit pack and pretend it's a Victory pack.

Of course we failed, and glad we did fail because it was all an excuse for the new DLC.

Look at this sentence: " Already, we are implementing plans to supply our forces with a better arsenal so that, when we next meet the enemy, they are ours."

See, now we get free guns! Way better than a victory pack! xD

Realistic goal = realistic achievement = feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment.

Upset? No.

I would have preferred to earned my Victory Pack, but no big deal. I wish they'd publish how many Banshees were killed. Were we even close?

If we were, they would. They aren't saying because it was nowhere near close, and it would be apparent that it's their fault, not ours.

No, it adds flavor to the running narrative in the MP side of things.

I'm happy we failed. This war has been pretty one sided, finally we take a loss. Gets me more in the mood to fight back harder (I don't care about the commedation and victory packs, I'm inn it for the game =p). I also can't help feel that it might lead to a DLC reinforcement..

I'm sure they had a writer simply word it that way after the fact.  In the end, this was doomed to fail.  Out of the dozen or so people who played ME3 multiplayer a month ago on my friends list on Xbox when we killed 3mil brutes, only 2 are still playing this game regularly and those two only faced reapers a few times over the weekend by choice (unlike the true community spirit/effort during the brute challenge when we all would specifically start reaper games).  Significantly less people playing plus a much harder target = fail regardless of adding in the PS3 community contribution (which is probably the smallest platform community in any case).   If they wanted it to be a challenge that was believable, they should have just doubled it to 2 million.  In the end, we just lost out on an equipment pack.  Meh.

COULDN'T! COULDN'T! COULDN'T!

If you could care less, it implies you care. The whole point is that you don't care.

It's almost as irritating as irregardLESS. The less means without regard. Adding IR doesn't make any damned sense!

Wrong analysis.

Irregardless is indeed a false neologism but I could care less implies negation because less is being used as a negating adverb here.

No.

Using some filler, expand each a bit, to see why it doesn't work.

"I couldn't care less." = "I could not care less.  There is no possible way the amount I care could be any lower, ergo, I do not care at all."

"I could care less".  "I could care a lower amount than I currently do.  I do care to some degree."

Thing is, much like "irregardless", it fell into public vernacular, but it doesn't make it correct English.

Victory Packs suck...even though it would have been nice since its free...but we arent really missing out on anything. I blame the squad goal of having to do a full extraction on gold for the allied goal not being met because i am sure most of the bad and inexperienced players were trying to get the squad goal on fbw: geth.

Bioware please be more creative with the squad goal, since it can obviously tie in to the allied goal.

Really?  I always thought "could care less" was just an American colloquialism.  It just seems illogical by itself.  I always thought "I could care less" was just a lazy abbreviation of either "couldn't care less" or "could care less, but not by much" etc.

You clearly have a linguistic background and I'm not trying to argue, just interested in the mechanics here as I'd always believed "couldn't care less" was the correct structure in a situation where the speaker has no interest at all in the matter in question.

as long as victory packs remain worthless, weekend goals remain meaningless.

squad goals are the only things people care about because they offer decent rewards.

Oh, you didn't upset me at all.  You seem to be the one that's upset, after all, you're letting the way people play a game offend and upset you!

I can see why you might be a little sad, though.  Your manifest is pretty lacking.

Yea, you're right. And to be honest, even I am starting to get bored with MP these days.

Pre-determined multiplayer storyline, they made it 3mil so they had a buffer for saying 'NOPE, YOU ALL FAILED'. This will lead to releasing DLC to "Add reinforcements to the line and help bolster mission success". I see what you did there Bioware.

Not really...just comes to show that people have begun to move on. These numbers will decrease even further as time goes on...I mean, if they had designed it so that there was replayability in the campaign, those that are on their 7th or so run would still continue to support MP...but alas, from poor and downright stupid decisions, BW has completely screwed themselves over.

I think we failed this time around because:

A) More people realized that the Victory pack was jsut a waste of good bullets and time.
B) It was Mother's Day weekend
C) The PS3 announcement is still bugged from what I hear. So tons of players on that platform might not have known. (Can PS3 confirm that there is still no in-game announcement?)

If they made the Victory pack worth it I'm certain the outcome would improve.

Unless you come to the forums, you have no clue what is happening on PS3 with this game.

I'll also add to the speculation that perhaps Bronze/Silver players wanted to try Gold, and full extraction Gold vs Cerberus or Geth is more attainable than vs Reapers.

On topic, I'm disappointed even though Victory Packs are just basically free Equipment Packs.

Does anyone know if they count Banshee kills even if we were wiped out on, say, Wave 9 or whatever? Or only on successful runs?

Why would anybody receive a commendation pack if the operation failed ?!??!

Probably in the minority, but this is how I feel it should be too.  No victory, no commendations.  Try harder next time.

Commendations, medals and so forth are issued even after failed military operations, for valor and individual performance. This isn't sports.

In game terms, there are two rewards for separate goals, if you got either of those you are eligible for its respective prize. Don't be jelly.

You win some you lose some, but the thoughts now turn to what weapons are in that arsenal that is soon to be ours.

Victory pack is no great loss, but got a few gold extractions so was hopeing for a Hurricane.
