Memory Leak Fix
This works on the following PC, if your specs are like this it may work for you
OS          : Windows XP Service Pack 2
CPU         : AMD Sempron 2500+ (1.75Ghz)
GPU         : Asus AH3450 512 mb
RAM         : 1Gb
PSU         : 350 or 400 Watt, can't quite remember
Motherboard : ASRock K7VM3

1. Installed Catylst Control Center 9.11(The new one on the amd site)
2. Installed AMD Overdrive 3.1(The new one on the amd site)
3. Installed AMD Fushion Desktop Utility(The new one on the amd site)
4. Installed Dual Core Optimizer(The new one on the amd site; I know I'm running a single core but this makes the biggest differance no matter what)

1) Start AMD Fushion Desktop Utility ; Click Logo in middle, wait, minimize
2) Start Dragon Age Origins(1.02)
3) Have fun!

P.S. : Don't Post your specs here, I won't be able to help spec wise because all I have ever had is this computer. Also, if it doesn't work, don't start complaining here. This also doesn't fully cure the memory leak, but it works past it, all my loads are 5-10 seconds max. Leak occured in Orzammer and Denerim(barely noticeable) next load took 15 seconds, thgen they went back to normal(5-10)
Frame Rate goes down a bit(not too much, about 3-5 maybe)Load time goes crazy(10 seconds max)
No I am not posting links for you they are quite simple, Just google it.
I Hope This Helps, because EA and Bioware have horrible customer service.
Graphics are set to medium graphics medium textures persistent gore on.

Well, if using a dual core optimizer fixes it, then it IS a processor handling issue, rather then a 'memory leak'. Interesting find... have you tested this much?

Btw you're running it on a 1.75 ghz single core and 1 gb RAM? You're even braver then me! Hell I thought my comp specs are already at the minimum.

That didn't work for me. Tested for 15 minutes until i couldn't take the loading time anymore. Hopping from 1 location to another.

Well normally the game slows to a crawl if it plays 5 minutes, with loads averaging about 3-5 minutes, with these programs i get it running pretty much as it was originally intended to be. Now I have it working but upon exiting the game i get a bsod claiming Bad_Pool_Caller, it may be caused by one of the AMD updates, or my system has had it.

Anyways, this will help but i'm going to look into that bsod to figure out the cause.

P.S. My computer plays majority of games. Without overclocking i can play blacksite area 51 at 30fps, it needs a 3ghz CPU, and 2 gb ram. This computer is still the same beast that it has been since i bought it(Long Time Ago).

For the 3rd post are you running an amd, because this will not work for an Intel.

Yea i am running AMD, Dual Core 4000+ with 2 gigs ram, anyway, worth to mention after installing Overdrive and Fusion thingy my PC needed like 3 min more to boot, but anyways, every pc is different i guess.

The issues have all but stopped for me since I upped my RAM to 4gb and installed my Radeon 5850. Not sure which helped, possibly both but I can now tab in and out of the game and have it running in the background all day without load times increasing too much.

The last version of fusion got a nasty bug, it prevents explorer.exe from starting immediately so when you reboot it takes longer than usual. I had to uninstall it and use an older beta version which works properly.

The OP's recommendation is hardly a fix since I have been using this kind of configuration and still have the usual slow down after an hour of playing.

It doesn't work, play longer, you'll see.

That fusion program was interesting - thanks. Doesn't fix the Dragon Age bug though. Play 15-30 min and it starts to lagg and load non-stop.

The PC in the first post has 1/6th of the power my PC has, so there has to be something very wrong with the game.

The fact of the matter here is that it is doubtful that such a system is having any kind of similar difficulty compared to a proper up to date PC's reactions to DA: O.

The Sempron 2500 is a gimped s462 AMD XP Thoroughbred, nowhere near as good an an XP Barton, and nowhere near as good as an Intel P4 2.6 GHz.  In other words, miles below minimum.   Similar to a Celeron, AMD removes most of the included CPU Cache, in order to reduce the cost.  They aren't as "bad" as Celerons, because that's all that they compete against.  Neither one is designed for games.

For those who are not at all tech-savvy, the AMD XP series predated the A64s, which predated the X2s, which predated the Phenom Is, etc.  They are *OLD* now,

There is a "Sempron64" that is rather similar to the gimped Core processor that Intel calls a "Pentium Dual", just as there is now an actual Core Celeron as well.  None of those substandard CPUs can be readily compared to this game's official requirements.

My feeling that the problem is related to one particular thread that is running out of control and sucking up more and more processor power does tie into this. With the optimizer, it does do a bit of fine tuning of your system settings, which COULD be noticed on a slower system.
