Human Noble Origin story for me. It is very touching. Death of Dairren, murdered wife and child of Fergus, noble sacrife of Ser Gilmore and last conversation with your parents. All of those make my eyes itch (... wipe some tear too maybe)

Human noble: leaving mom and dad knowing, they'll get owned ... :(
Also, there was this very special situation with Leliana singing in the camp - I had a few quite dark converations with some NPCs and then her song ... this really created a very dark and hopeless situation... somehow ... well ... too bad there are not more of these moments (very well done).

I actually felt Rose's and Ser Langley's anger rising when I had to do that, I wasn't sad, I was pissed because I was going to rip out Howe's heart. Technically my first playthrough was a Noble too but I was too busy
faffing about to really have an emotion beyond, "I'll avenge them good..."

However, Rose was my second playthrough and she was based off a woman my wife and I adore so I took the opportunity to get inside her head. It was this time that I found the dead nephew and sister in law, I felt that grandmother's despair and I was a good deal horrified since I hadn't expected it like I should have. So killing Howe felt all the more of a release.

So yea, playing as Rose did a lot for my heart strings, she was also the first one to romance Alistair. Good times.

When everyone was saying their goodbyes before you run off to go kill the Archdemon <snip>

Oh yes.  Frankly, It gets me every time.  The way everyone lines up, the crowd that's cheering for you as you head for the city gate.  It WORKS.  And the music builds perfectly in that scene as well.

I recall onc,e in fact, where I went to rearrange my equipment right after the goodbyes were over....and discovered that doing so turned off the music.  All was silence.  And it SUCKED.  I was rather ticked about that.

Sten dying halfway through almost every single difficult battle... such a great character, such a stupid class design.

The final speeches at the Gates of Denerim when the companions say their final lines. When I get to Morrigan and her final line "Live Gloriously!" you can hear her voice almost, but not quite, break up and then the music and the cheering, I get bleary eyed all the time.

The death of the Lady of the Forest was a close thing too.

When Caridin falls into the lava, and you are left with this impact. I felt quite moved. Not teary, but moved.

I got teary when you talk to Kester as a mage for the first time. I don't know why. It was nice.

My wife hates Kester, since her first character was a city elf and he made a few rather bad comments. She is teary over the fact she couldn't pull out the murder-knife on him.

Bawled like a girl (well, I am one) my first play-through when I romanced Alistair. I'm another one who thought I'd be the one to make the big sacrifice, and when Alistair did it without me being able to stop him (despite having several spells that would have immobed him but good), I got a bad case of the sniffles.

Relieved to see that a few other guys have shed manly tears over this game.

Hmm, maybe lifting something heavy and yelling a lot will make this all better.

I haven't played through the whole game (i'm stuck in the dumb fade with the sloth demon right now.. boooo) yet, but I definitely had tears in my eyes when Duncan died. That was right up there with the scenein the first LOTR movie where Gandalf "died" (and I hadn't read the second book yet).

Sigh... I hope there is a DLC where you can romance Duncan.

When Alistair left my mage I was so shocked I burst into tears. I was trying to plan ahead, put Loghains considerable steel and experience between Alistair, me and the archdemon. I had read that Morrigan needed to sleep with either loghain or Alistair and that a grey warden had to die to slay the archdemon. I had NOT read that If I spared Loghain that Alistair would douche out on me, Fereldan the whole Grey Warden thing, so I was NOT ready for that. After the shock I thought this game is really good to affect me like this so I stoically played through and made the ultimate sacrifice hoping Alistair would at least come to my funeral. Boy was I ticked when I learned he had left the night before to go get drunk in a distant land.

I find it impossible to romance him anymore. He is the most adorable sweet guy throughout the game and then he abandons everything he ever believed in and cared about because he doesn't get to kill a man that will undoubtedly die in the final battle anyway.

I also cried when I died in the final battle I pretended I yelled Alistairs name until I died. It was pretty emotional.

Aww man, can't I have it back? I'll be a manly man this time, I promise! I'll do 200 push ups a day and destroy every teddy bear I see!

When they released the Marbari hounds at Ostagar.
I didn't cry, but I felt sad, that dogs are so loyal even to the point of death. I wondered if the dogs even knew they were sent to their deaths. Most likely because Marbari dogs are said to be as intelligent as your average tax collectors.

Yeah, I felt a little guilty when I saw the dogs running after the darkspawn. They're just puppies!

No, but I did get annoyed and frustrated with a couple of my companions. Particularly Alistair and Morrigan, but that's nothing new.

There was a part however where I felt kind of sad when I dumped Zevran for Alistair and he says something like "there's no reason to be sorry, my sweet lady"---I'm kind of a sucker for men who call me lady. Even virtual men, I guess.

Leliana's song was pretty silly to me, not because it was bad, but because it's impossible for me to imagine that voice making those noises.

It's a good story, wonderful for a videogame. But definitely not worthy of my tears. Anger, sure, but isn't anger just the other side of the sadness coin? Or something? Because this game surely pissed me off a couple of times.

It is no problem if you use manly tears though. A little known fact. A single tear of pride for example.

Just keep the face in neutral mode.

It definitely depends on what choices you make/how you play through the game. My first playthrough, male human mage who sides with the werewolves and takes morrigan's bargain, I really didn't feel much all throughout the game, except in the end where you all split apart (which I am usually a complete sucker for, companionship forged through battle torn apart by slightly different priorities) and even then I hadn't felt that much camaraderie throughout the game to get more than slightly regretful.

The second playthrough, male human rogue, I teared up a little at the end with everyone breaking up, absolutely despised howe, and got a lump in my throat for removing the curse from the werewolves (killing the lady of the forest AND zathrian). Perhaps it was because I knew a lot more about the game-world the second time around, connecting me more, though I really think it was more because of the different origin and choices made.

That all said, FFVII and X affected me much more than this game.

This made me proud and felt heavy in the end for I know what happened next.
