I actually felt Rose's and Ser Langley's anger rising when I had to do that, I wasn't sad, I was pissed because I was going to rip out Howe's heart. Technically my first playthrough was a Noble too but I was too busyAuraad wrote...
Human noble: leaving mom and dad knowing, they'll get owned ...
Also, there was this very special situation with Leliana singing in the camp - I had a few quite dark converations with some NPCs and then her song ... this really created a very dark and hopeless situation... somehow ... well ... too bad there are not more of these moments (very well done).
faffing about to really have an emotion beyond, "I'll avenge them good..."
However, Rose was my second playthrough and she was based off a woman my wife and I adore so I took the opportunity to get inside her head. It was this time that I found the dead nephew and sister in law, I felt that grandmother's despair and I was a good deal horrified since I hadn't expected it like I should have. So killing Howe felt all the more of a release.
So yea, playing as Rose did a lot for my heart strings, she was also the first one to romance Alistair. Good times.

When everyone was saying their goodbyes before you run off to go kill the Archdemon <snip>
Oh yes. Frankly, It gets me every time. The way everyone lines up, the crowd that's cheering for you as you head for the city gate. It WORKS. And the music builds perfectly in that scene as well.
I recall onc,e in fact, where I went to rearrange my equipment right after the goodbyes were over....and discovered that doing so turned off the music. All was silence. And it SUCKED. I was rather ticked about that.

The death of the Lady of the Forest was a close thing too.

Hmm, maybe lifting something heavy and yelling a lot will make this all better.

Sigh... I hope there is a DLC where you can romance Duncan.

I find it impossible to romance him anymore. He is the most adorable sweet guy throughout the game and then he abandons everything he ever believed in and cared about because he doesn't get to kill a man that will undoubtedly die in the final battle anyway.
I also cried when I died in the final battle I pretended I yelled Alistairs name until I died. It was pretty emotional.

Aww man, can't I have it back? I'll be a manly man this time, I promise! I'll do 200 push ups a day and destroy every teddy bear I see!

When they released the Marbari hounds at Ostagar.
I didn't cry, but I felt sad, that dogs are so loyal even to the point of death. I wondered if the dogs even knew they were sent to their deaths. Most likely because Marbari dogs are said to be as intelligent as your average tax collectors.
Yeah, I felt a little guilty when I saw the dogs running after the darkspawn. They're just puppies!

There was a part however where I felt kind of sad when I dumped Zevran for Alistair and he says something like "there's no reason to be sorry, my sweet lady"---I'm kind of a sucker for men who call me lady. Even virtual men, I guess.

Leliana's song was pretty silly to me, not because it was bad, but because it's impossible for me to imagine that voice making those noises.

No, I still own my man license. Got sad a couple of times though.
It's a good story, wonderful for a videogame. But definitely not worthy of my tears. Anger, sure, but isn't anger just the other side of the sadness coin? Or something? Because this game surely pissed me off a couple of times.

It is no problem if you use manly tears though. A little known fact. A single tear of pride for example.
Just keep the face in neutral mode.

The second playthrough, male human rogue, I teared up a little at the end with everyone breaking up, absolutely despised howe, and got a lump in my throat for removing the curse from the werewolves (killing the lady of the forest AND zathrian). Perhaps it was because I knew a lot more about the game-world the second time around, connecting me more, though I really think it was more because of the different origin and choices made.
That all said, FFVII and X affected me much more than this game.
