Cerberus Defectors would make more sense because A: Cerberus Defectors were mentioned in the blog post along with the Vorcha
and B: Phoenix sounds like a code name similar to the codename Cerberus. Both mythical animals. Makes sense.

Phoenix is Greek mythology, in line with everything tied to Cerberus. It also relates to the crumbling of Cerberus' original intentions, ie., humanity's best interests to Reaper lap dogs under indoctrinated leaders.
Cerberus member see this and are rebelling. They are arguably rising from the ashes of what used to be a benevolent, albeit misguided, force for humanity.
Hahaha. No. Phoenix are not just Greek mythos. They originated first in Eygpt (Hebrew texts) and then India the myths and stories traveled westward to Greece and Rome around 110AD. Learn history first before opening your mouth.

Since the virtual aliens are extinct (in physical form) them coming to fight the Reapers makes them as much 'Phoneix' as anything.
Basically, it isn't Raloi or any other species mentioned in passing in a Cerberus Daily News piece.

Not being relegated solely to the Greek mythos does not mean they are not present in the Greek mythos, you insufferable, ignorant, knuckle dragging troglodyte. I don't understand how you managed to type that entire post without choking on your own tongue or something. The Phoenix is present in Greek mythos. This isn't even opinion, how are you trying to refute this? I never said it was ONLY Greek mythology. I never even implied it. You're grasping at straws so desperately I'm tempted to just hand you some. It's pitiful.
I think you lost the right to attempt to correct anyone on anything when you said Mass Relays are Prothean tech and Brutes are modified Yagh hybrids. For your own sake, go play in a sandbox or something. Just stop embarrassing yourself here.

Its definitely something we havent seen before. It has to be cerberus defectors. If it was the Protheans why not just call them Protheans?

I'm thinking collectors
I like to think they'll be Javik-esqe wisecrackers and just run around shouting
"Now I'm assuming direct control"
Or "I know this hurts me." when they're dying.

I sincerely hope that the Phoenix are turian biotics. Protheans would
just be disappointing for Bioware, as it was just established that Javik
was the last prothean. Putting them in Multiplayer would not only
undermine a large part of the lore, but it would also undermine Javik as
a character.
In the next Operation weekend, Bioware could easily have an Operation annoucement that states "Alliance forces have discover another Prothean bunker with functional pods. The newly awakened Prothean group is eager to join the fight."
Lore will be satisfied.

I think Rachni as an enemy type is definitely viable. During the campaign, if you let the "Breeder Rachni Queen" live, she ultimately betrays the Alliance for whatever agenda she has.
they are also viable as a playable race if you saved the original queen as she does NOT betray you and you get crucible workers... i mean whats to stop her giving you a couple of brood warriors too?

I agree.
The mechanics for player controlled Rachni would definitely be an interesting challenge for Bioware; seeing as they don't use guns. However, they do...........spit acid. And......ummmm, you know, bite?
I'm pretty sure it would be doable for Bioware, and I'm sure they could find a way to make it work as a playable character. It would definitely need insane toughness. I envision them as a melee heavy class.
