Lulz. The FF series hit its peak with FFVII - it's when FFVIII came out that things started to get wobbly IMHO.

Nomura can dream that he'll make a FF title "better" than FFVII, but he's kidding himself if he honestly thinks it can happen - the FF series' prime is long past. Hell, I'll bet they'd even screw up a remake if it ever did happen tbh.

actually you're wrong.

FFIV remake on the DS with the updated graphics was beautiful. It was done well. It's what a remake should be

and I personally disagree with you on VIII. I think it was great. It's only downfall was the junction system. Because 8-12 yrs old couldn't figure it out. While others (like myself) could.

Story wise, it was great. I also liked FFIX - was that bad? Because that was again a real "fantasy" game going back to what FF 1,2,3 were

anyway - you're entitled to opinion but a remake has been done - and was done very well.

He's right. They should focus on making their future games the best they can be instead of phoning it in by dipping into their back catalogue. Especially after the critical response the last two Final Fantasy games got.

focus on future games.........

it's been only 14YRS SINCE FANS ASKED THIS

....and look what they've given us so far...

I think maybe they should go back to the past --- and see what made Squaresoft Great -- compared to Square Enix

And thats the problem. Square Enix frankly sucks.

I hope not, VII was when it all started going downhill.  Now if they were doing a remake of VI then you would have something.

LOL, should've figured there be one of these.

it's funny, though.

SE: We've got a whole new series for you guys! And this new game FF XIII!
Fans: No! Remake VII, we don't want this crap!
...
Fans: That was awful! Make something new! Give us VII! Also that XIII Versus looks interesting, give us that!!
SE: Nnnnnnnnope! Guess what? We haven't worked on Versus at all! And, btw, announcing FF XIII-2
Fans: Fuuuuuu
...
Fans: RAEG That was awful, what an awful ending!
SE: DLC:wizard:

Part of why I don't even care anymore, SE with its current direction ignoring fans, making crap games, I just I don't even fallow them anymore. Its not worth it at all. But I do hope they'll make a GOOD FF Game, and not another Kingdom hearts kiddy game just to cash in fast.

Also Lucas, yeah it doesn't matter to you but hey, your a kid. Those of us who were as old as you are now back then who stuck with Final Fantasy, well for us most of us of the PS generation FF7 was our title.

THOUGH as an edit I would rather have like a FF7-2 rather than a remake of the original.

ahh the PS generation days

FFIV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X
MGS
Goldeneye 64..........wait oh *ahem*

That's good, they should be making a FFVI remake a higher priority than a FFVII remake anyway.

who said anything about VI being remade? it may come out on DS or something.......doesn't mean it's updated graphics.

I only hope BW doesn't go in this direction. I played the FFIV Remake on the DS (thought it was great) it felt like a real FF classic game.

now.............you got FFXIII which was nothing at all what a FF should be. FFXII was boring no good characters.

We need Auron, Lcoke, Cyan Shadow - those were real characters not...........vanielle

What should a FF game be? Cause as far as I can tell, every one I've played has been rather different. It's not like this is a franchise with literal sequels. FFVII has nothing to do with FFVI so why should they have to be so alike? That's just an example of course, but you get what I mean. IMHO XIII is my favorite FF game and the reason is that it was so different from previous ones. Not that I don't love the way the other FF games are (towns, minigames, over worlds, etc.) but the stream-lined, story based approach is what drew me into XIII. And that's fine, cause it wasn't meant to be a carbon copy of say X but with different characters. Look at VSXIII. It looks more like KH in how it plays than any FF, but it still looks great. So I think to say a FF game HAS to be a certain way goes against the basic premise of having the games be independant stories unto themselves. That being said, Vanille is awesome.

Just found out about this thread on BSN.

I have always been a great fan of Final Fantasy. And FFVII was not that good for me as a lot of other people say it is. For me the previous (although in arcade style) was storywise much better and FFVIII had much more deeper gameplay IMO. So did FFIX, FFX and FFXII for that matter.

I really did not like FFXIII and the direction it took. Played the FFXIII-2 demo and there were some improvements but will not buy it untill it's in 'the grab bag' so to speak.

FF has taken a direction which I cannot relate to...................Want the things back that made the franchise grand.

What's your view on Vi? I think it was the deepest of all when came to: story and character Development.

also I highly recommend you play the DS remake of FF IV - the updated graphics and VA are very well done.

plus - it's that "classic" FF feel and experience. That made the series grand

Perhaps. My first game was UMK 3 on the SNES. I was 4. So I've been playing games for a bit. But still, you're probably right about different generations and what not. But I just don't see where this business of "XIII is a good game, but a bad FF game" comes from. And it's not jsut XIII I've heard that for. If a game is good, and it is a FF game, it is a good FF game. Just because it doesn't follow the same formula as the classics doesn't change that imo.

Actually, both the FFIII and FFIV remakes were handled by a third-party developer - Square merely published them.

And yes, the FFIV remake was supreme - best FF game I've played since VII.

I did Posted Image. And I liked it.......

FFVI was story wise absolutely grand in all aspects. Although the graphics were crap compared to those now I really do not mind that. Replayed the game about 4 months ago (again) and still love it although the characters look like 5 dots sticked together Posted Image.

In exploration terms though FFXII is (and will be if they continue their current games) the best game in the series for me. FFVIII had the best love story of all times and had a lot of side quests that were hidden if you did not explore enough and FFIX had some epic things (like the mage dolls) that had a lasting impression on me.

I always wanted to play tactics. I'm not a big strategy person, but everyone holds it in such high esteem. That and IX. My friend keeps telling me how great it is, but I haven't found time to play it. That and the PS3 I have isn't backwards compatible -_-

Well, there are... other ways of playing FF Tactics and FFIX without a PS1 or PS2.

Not that I'm suggesting anything - I'm just letting you know there are alternatives.

With an Emulator? I guess that could work. But I'm not really a fan of mouse and keys. But if there is no other way....I might just check PSN, the selection of PS2 games is pathetic, but tehy have alot of PSone stuff. Might be there

You can play emulated PS games with a PS3 controller. I was playing Dragon Quest 8 myself just the other day (I own it just not a working PS2) and I HIGLY recommend it such a great game.

Where would one find an emulator for the PS1&2, though? Whenever I look I always end up on sleazy-looking sites clogged with ads.
