I love how up untill near the end of the second page most of the posts were about how badly SE has fallen regarding FF and such, rather than actually talking about the actual point around a FFVII remake. But regardless.

I was tempted at first to say ths is old news untill I saw the date of the article. Thing is, SE as been dodging questions and debunking others thoughts about a remake way back from the PS3 tech demo. From this the way I see it, is that they are either trying to (badly) cover up a big announcement, or they genuinely don't have plans or want to work on one right now. I think the latter.

The point behind a remake would be money - Square would no doubt rake in a ton of moolah from a decent FFVII remake, if they could will themselves to make one.

They would also rake in a ton of bad press, even more than FF13(no, I'm not using roman numerals, deal with it Rome!). I don't believe they could ever do it justice and would screw it up badly. It's also a huge game with a ton of strangely translated awkward dialogue, would they have to voice all that? It could come off hilarious if actually spoken, especially Cid and Barret's expletitive filled outbursts. It took up what 3 or 4 cd's without dialogue and with PS1 graphics, how big would it be with everything rendered in HD and spoken dialogue?

Bah, I doubt they'll ever make that - I don't think they can milk the Chrono series for quite as much cash as they could with FF, so filing a trademark on a name is likely as far as that'll ever go.

Eh. Honestly, it's overrated. I preferred FF9 and 10. FF 4 and 6 were great games - if they were to be remade, cool. But, they should be remade into games for the console. Not some crap-tastic handheld.

Handheld or no, the FFIV remake was very impressive - it's the only version of FFIV I'll play now, and I'd definitely be down for a remake of FFVI in the same style.

That's pretty lame that they would do that. They were willing to somewhat remake it for the PS and re-release it for the DS, but that seems as far as it'll go. They should've struck while the iron was hot, I guess.

Not even with updated graphics and VA (they did that with FFIV on the DS) it was masterfully done.

I was very well pleased. Plus it was a thrid party company that did it. SE itself would ruin it.......but with the FFIV Remake DS - they actually brought back the originals developers to "oversee" it.

dude....huge fan of the Chrono Series.

it's sad Chrono "Resurrection" was shut down.

but it's confirmed by SE that the reason there was no sequel was that, Chrono Cross didn't rake in the $$$ as they expected

therefore.............:(((((((((((((((

Though

IMO - if you want a great launch for the next gen console (PS4) bring the Remake of FFVII "alive"

without a doubt - the PS4 would sell like crazy and both Sony & SE would rank in Ca$h

The best Final Fantasy is IX and the worst ones are XIII and XIII-2.

Anyway it's kind of sad that the only Final Fantasy game I am looking forward to coming out.... is a rhythm spin-off game.

Now THIS I agree with. The turn out for PS4 preorders would be crazy if a VII remake was set to be a launch title. And with VSXIII set to be a PS3 exclusive, I'd imagine Sony and SE could work out a deal to keep the remake exclusive. And with what a next gen console could be capable of, it would be a lot less likely to disappoint the hardcore VII nostalgia people.

SE has already ruined too many good franchises, Mana, Parasite Eve, Crystal Chronicles, Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 4, Tactics, and so on. They can just keep releasing crappy games and keep there hands off of any of the good things still associated with them.

I'm sure it will come out.

I know SE will do so. The question really is when. IMO - if they want the most on making $$$ they'll have it for a launch PS4 title

............which I and everyone else will buy LOL

I agree completely.

SE will remake the game eventually. Just when is the question. And if Sony is smart enough they'll make sure they'll keep it exclusive. Though - I remember back in the day FFVII did came to PC.

WTF U TALKING ABOUT

you not know your history and facts.

First off - FFIV and VII were SquareSOFT and secondly FFIV remake on the DS was masterfully done. And it wasn't SE that did it - it was a seperate studio who brought in the original developers to "oversee" the project.

get your facts straight

The reason why is SE and Squaresoft are two completely different company and visions.

It's SE that ruined the series. And it's sad now that you see all the Squaresoft games replaced with SE tags on them. SE taking all the credits for others did.

It's why I get so heated
