I just checked the straight and gay Kaidan romance scene Ok Kaidan is not gay he says the exact same things to a male shepard as to a female shepard. Even the romance scene is both of them on top of each other its the same scene with the male body put in. I find it stupid if you're gonna make him gay make him gay. Don't change the female Shepard body with a male Shepard body and let him have the same conversation. It's lame. I still say he's straight. It doesn't make sense. In the scene where they bump into each other, when he's walking towards the door male Shepard walks like female Shepard.
The problem is you're comparing both fem shep and male shep. I never played a femshep and didn't even know if the animations were the same so this didn't bother me, in my playthrough Kaidan is gay/bi so for someone to come out and say he isn't just because Bioware didn't have the resources to make every scene completely different is just annoying. Plus during the date scene on the citadel Kaidan says he wants someone handsome and that's all you really needed to distinguish him as gay.
Tthey don't need to make the straight/gay romance drastically different to prove a point, if he's kissing mshep then that should be enough, saying the canon Kaidan is exclusively straight is like saying anyone who plays femshep is playing a falsified character just because she's not given as much attention.

Kaidan was always supposed to be bi-sexual I 'believe' but it got cut for whatever reason. Ashley has always been straight, even in ME3.
I think Ashley was also supposed to be bi in ME1 and that also got cut. You have to edit the game save but I have done a play through with femshep romancing Ashley and the dialogue was all appropriate as was the love scene. In fact that save also imported into ME2 with no issues at all strangely enough.

they didn't need to make Ashley available because there were already plenty of f/f romances in ME3. they needed a second m/m romance. Kaidan was the only freshly romancable male in ME3. judging by the fact that he's not listed in Prima guide, it was a decision made close to release, which is why his dialogue is almost 100% copy pasted and a whole chunk of romance scene is missing (since they would have to make new animations for that)
aka.
it was the most expedient, cheapest, fastest solution.
the fact that there were actually people who wanted it? was just a bonus. and the fact that straight femshep got shafted in a romance department (had there been another male romance, i would bet you, that one would have been a bi version) - oh well. most people play maleshep, and like half femshep players romance Liara.

ME1 was published by Microsoft immediateley prior to Bioware being indoctrinated by the rEApers, that is why it was the best game of the series in terms of RPG.Ashii6 wrote...
Ash originally was suppose to be bisexual, as well. In ME1, of course, but apparently EAWare changed their mind.

Ok. So are you saying ME 1 didn't happen. Why didn't he give any even small hint at being Bi/Gay in that game. They just added the whole Bi/Gay thing for the hell of it. Why do resources matter. If it was natural character development, they would have ahead of time put effort into him being Bi/Gay. Its litterly copy past. And if you want to talk about canon. Canon shepard is male. Being female is an extra option they added they said that themselves. Thats why they don't get as much attention. It's not falsefied just not fully fleshed out because it's not canon and not the biggest percentage of buyers that play female. That has to do with spending vs profit. The point i made with copy pasting is just the biggest most obvious point, as to why he's not Bi/Gay. It's just slapped on after.

1. Because gay/bi people don't go around talking about it as if theres nothing else about themselves worth mentioning?
2. Not exactly copy/paste. Kaidan does have lines describing a handsome manShep.
3. There is no canon Shepard.

Outright and complete falsehood. They've never said that, and there is no canon.
Female players are a significant number and growing, thank you, and BioWare are one of the few developers out there who actually recognise this.

Precisely this.
And if you MUST complain about something, get it right: Ash is not bi. (Sadly that remained cut)

Don't remind me lol.
So the question is equally, why does Kaidan 'swing' all of a sudden but Ash doesn't?

Because they are not the same person. People complain that they're too similar and now this?! People complain that they differ from each other? Please people, make up your mind already.
Besides, there's enough F/F content already in the game. A lot more than M/M.

Well remember there was that post virmire 'Losing a limb' comment with Kaidan from ME1. Always felt a little awkward. Now we know why.
Plus it fits in very well with Kaidan's indecisiveness.

Don't recall that line, but TBH he only lived once. I was femShep, does that make any diff to the dialogue?
