WOW, my mind just boggled at how incredibly detailed and presented this was! Thank you so much for the work you two put into this and very nice to see Casey actually contact you personally about it. If anything, his response actually put more hope into the EC for me, I just hope we're not thrown for another round of disappointment...

Posting text of letter from Casey Hudson again so it doesn't get buried:

Mike and Will,

Thanks
for sending us your report, "Towards a Consensus". We appreciate the
work that you and the other contributors and respondents put into it. We
have been doing similar work here at Bioware to assemble, analyze, and
interpret player feedback on Mass Effect 3. That feedback has provided
guidance as we build the expansions to the endings for the upcoming
Extended Cut downloadable content. The fact that your report is
constructive makes it a particularly useful source for information for
us, and we’ve referred to it more than once. But above all else, our
team is driven by a passion for entertaining players, so they thrive on
feedback like this which is respectful and supportive –  even when it
offers criticism.

We are in production on the Extended Cut, and
we think that its additional scenes and expanded epilogue provide many
of the answers and options that are described in your report. Naturally,
each player has different expectations, so we can’t expect that
everyone can be totally satisfied with any story. But we’ve been
listening carefully, and many of the points of feedback were things that
we too were excited to expand on, as fans of the Mass Effect universe
ourselves. The team is currently working hard to deliver something that
helps us all say a more satisfying goodbye to Shepard’s journey.

I should go,

I see you picked up my comment on from the hands of the fans to BioWare, I approve :). Epic job, again. Make sure you hang onto that letter - if you're optimistic, this may prove to be the beginning of a much more collaborative gaming process. Maybe a nice frame?

WOW!
Great job and Very well done!
We can only hope they match the story board of the EC to the Items shown in this report and use it as a check list.

Interesting letter, but it doesn't give me hope really. - The survey data was amazing and I stand in awe of the work you put into it. Thank you.

Is there a more condensed summary with the raw data? Where can I see the results of the survey? I was reading through it and it looks good, but I did not have time to finish it... its not light reading. I would also like more information on how the survey was distruibuted? Were the people who participated logged into this website to see the questions? Was that the target demographic you were aiming for? If so the results might not be representative of the mass effect gaming community as a whole. There are lots of players who never took the time to sign up and visit these boards..

All in all a very nice piece of work!

3 months later and he reemerges lol anyhow it was good of him to respond, shows the team acknowledges the work if nothing else, cool survey btw seems especially watertight generally statistically wise

Many thanks all. Won't repost letter text - just check quote two posts up (thanks CashGrab!).

david_demos484: I think we pretty much explained the demographics stuff in the Reports, so I won't rehash here. There's also a FAQ here: http://www.mediafire...6acuofv1o274jot  that provides more info. Re actual data - happy to. Just send me a message with email and I'll send.

cheers

OK - so EC on the way. Chris says you don't have to get 4000EMS to get best ending; basically you can get best ending without MP. If so, then that's one boxed ticked in my book. The podcast with Casey, Mac and Jessica talks a lot about attachment to the characters, having a better chance to say goodbye, making it clearer how decisions shape what happens, and that not everyone dies as a result of what happens. I don't see much point in speculating at this point - except that this still sounds like the ending is the same conceptually - just more explanation and information about it. Which is what Bioware have said from first announcing the DLC now EC.

I haven't checked with ofish (he's asleep in that half of the globe) but my intent is to carefully check the EC and how it stacks up against the results of the surveys. I'm leaning towards setting up a brief post-EC survey specifically to cross-reference to the issues raised in the reports for folks to register scores for. I'm not actually committing to this right here, right now as frankly doing more surveys and reports is not what I had in mind - at least not so soon after wrapping up the last ones! Anyway - if you think this would serve a good purpose (ie follow up check list survey), please drop a line into this post. Many thanks
cheers

I'm up for taking things to their logical conclusion and examining the reception of the DLC by the ME community. The timing of the news release regarding the Extended Cut shows clearly what type of reaction Bioware expected. Friday = Bad News!

The specific questions and intent of the survey will have to wait for the release of the DLC but if anyone has suggestions please feel free to post them here.

I eagerly await the wailing and gnashing of teeth that will follow when EC is terrible and makes everyone angry again, validating the bitter misanthropy that constitutes my waking life.

I really think that a follow up survey would be a great idea X) just hope that they REALLY put in good use the data that both of you have put together painstakingly.
Thank you very much for your time and effort in doing this. Greatly appreciate it guys..
