Something that's always bugged me. When you're talking with Legion, Shepard mentions that the Reapers promised the Geth a Reaper body to upload into. But how did he know this? I don't recall it being mentioned anywhere in Mass Effect 1. Did I miss it, or did the writers forget what information they had and hadn't revealed?

All Geth are connect and Legion learned a lot on his mission to understand the Heretics.

Sovereign's promise to give them a reaper body is what split the geth. Before that all geth were connected, so every geth would know about that offer.

EDIT: Oops, misread the topic.

Shepard didn't know about Sovereign's offer at first. Legion told Shepard Sovereign offered the geth a future, and that some geth took that offer and others deciced to build their own future. When Legion told Shepard the future they were building was a mega-stucture to upload all of the geth into, Shepard surmised that Sovereign offered the heretics a reaper body to upload into. Legion then comfirmed that that assumption was correct.
