Maybe the Elves made a deal with her? that wen't awry most modern elves would have forgotten if she was responsible including the Dalish. I don't think it was the Tevinters personally even though codex claims so.
Maybe it was Flemeth not the Tevinters who sunk Arlathan.

Why? It sounds like sinking Arlathan was something the tevinters were certainly capable of doing.

You can pretty much blame anything unexplained on Flemeth and it would be possible, if not plausible.
.... so sure.
Every theory that includes Flemeth is baseline valid.

I heard it was Flemeth who put the bomp in the bomp bomp bomp.
Unlike a lot of other mysterious happenings in Thedas, the destruction of Arlathan by the Tevinter Imperium is a matter of historical record. Maybe Flemeth gave them the ritual or was one of the Tevinters in disguise, but it was still the Magister Lords who destroyed the city.

Why Flemeth? Why not a Flying Spaghetti Monster? You have about the same evidence for both.

Flemeth sunk Arlathan, then impersonated a young Alamarri woman to start a cult centered around her - a cult we now call the Chantry. She was the one who founded Ferelden, too. She led the Qunari to attack Thedas. Finally, she created the Architect before settling down in the Kocari Wilds to find the Warden and Hawke.
