Spinning off the Favorite Companion from each Bioware game, let's pick the best companion from any type of game.

First my picks:



Garrus Vakarian (Mass Effect series) - He looks like a mutated bony raptor, but he's the best backup to have in a firefight. And he's Bioware's best romance too.



Zoltan Chivay (The Witcher series) - The best Dwarven sidekick a witcher could ask for.



Irish (Red Dead Redemption) - A stereotype sure. But damn if he isn't funny as hell.



Elika (Prince of Persia 2008) - She could even be said to be the protagonist of the game.



Leonardo Da Vinci (Assassin's Creed series) - Aside from being a genius from all around, he had to go and be the best bro you could ask for in Rennaissance Italy.



Jolee Bindo (SW: KOTOR) - Snarky ass Jedi Master, never leave home without it.



Brianna The Handmaiden (SW: KOTOR 2 The Sith Lords) - Cute and kicks ass too.



Little Jacob Hughes (Grand Theft Auto IV) - Cause we need a rasta to smoke some ganja with and blow away de babylon, mon!



Lydia (The Elder Scolls V: Skyrim) - Every Dovahkiin's dream. A badass housecarl and a babe to boot.



Glottis (Grim Fandango) - Cause every Grim Reaper needs a speed freak demon to accompany them.

Auron was pretty bad ass.

From the FF camp I'll add Vincent and Cid from FF7. Lavitiz in Legend of dragoon. there are a few others but I'll need to think on it to make my list, will do that later on. I've played too many RPgs lulz.

@happy_daiz, I spent the whole game looking forward to seeing krogan ride kakliosaurs in the final battle. Broke my heart that they didn't. And the elcor living tanks, where were they?

Ultimately, all any hero really needs is someone to stand behind him and shout "My friend is going to get you!", and that's Guss.
Pretty much all his lines are funny, and frankly any companion described in the codex as liking "a good scam" is good in my books. Plus, his voice is brilliant.

My all time favorite has always been Fall-From-Grace.



She was intelligent, educated, and valued the mental over the physical. FFG always kept her cool, accepted differences in others without being judgmental about it, and skewed toward nonviolence without being meek or foolish. She was one of few NPC recruits in any game that came across as sane without being boring or saccharine, and feminine without it being treated as a sexual thing.

I never felt Fall-From-Grace was a follower in the truest sense of that word; or the generic "hero's girlfriend" so many healer characters end up being.

Me too. I was pretty stoked when I spun this up again a few weeks back, and was able to dress her up in a Little Red Riding Hood getup. So cute!

Good question. BTW, I love your picks, at least of the ones I've played. Interesting that you mention Enslaved - not many people have played that. I adore Trip and Monkey! So much so that we named two of our ferrets after them.

I ses Seagloom already posted Fall-From-Grace, which was my dream girl in teens. All of my friends wanted to read her journal


Morte - because he is so hillarous, and just super unique, even after all this time.





Aribeth (From Hordes of Underdark) - that's an LI, specially for evil ending.



Sarevok - because of his epic voice and diabolic personality




Vhailor - because he is, just like Morte unique - a disembodied spirit, hellbent on exacting justice upon all of the multiverse.



Kreia - possibly one of the best female characters ever created (and not just in gaming industry). And that is despite not being any hotty lass. Her cryptic and mysterious attitude, as well as the fact that she act as you teacher makes her absolutely captivating, and also very complicated character.




Sarah Kerrigan - OK, she isn't really a companion, except maybe for a few missions in original starcraft. But failing to mention her, would still be a heresy. Possibly a queen of the gaming industry now, and the best character ever created during blizzard 'golden age' (tied with Arthas of course).

Fallout New Vegas: ED-E
Always a constant follower in my games. He's much better than the dog as a pet companion.


Skyrim: Lydia
She's the first follower in the game. I used her for most of the main questline and she was even the first one I conscripted into the blades.


Dragon Age Origins: Leliana
I loved her girly and frivolous personality and was my favorite romance in the game.


Fallout 2: Myron

Just play the game as a female and you'll understand why.
