I haven't seen this interview around the forum , (found it in david gaider twitter) , thought i'd share:

forthelore.com/

It's kinda long and mostly about companions in games in general , but it's pretty funny.
Beware it contains  stories about  nasty pigeons and evil laughters.:D

Great interview! I really enjoyed that. Thanks for the link OP.

Just wanna say yes, I prefer a Hub for the companions. I also prefer having more companions to choose from instead of a set party. I like to mix them up. Change my companion "load out" based on the quest I'm doing. And I like to hear the different banter. Lol.

And yes, the romances...heck, even just the friendships bring so much more emotional investment to the whole story. For me. It makes the larger story concept/struggle much more personal and immediate.

I like the idea of the companions and romances weaving into the larger story. Although, I understand that can't always be accomplished. But say, in DA:O w/Alistair.....psssh..my mage Warden's feelings for Alistair pretty much shaped the future of Ferelden.

The Warden. The Witch. And the Queen. We got together and basically crafted the future of that kingdom. And God knows what else considering there's now an Old God Baby running around somewhere.

And in DA:2..oh, in the third act w/ Anders, whoa. It took me 20 minutes, literally, to figure out what to do with him. I had to put the controller down and away from me because I didn't want a twitchy finger accidentally making a choice for me. Haha. There were so many different emotions running through me at that point. Nice job, BW.

Oh, and I'm not interested in moulding my characters outlook. I prefer intact personalities. Although, realistically people do change. They are influenced by the other people they hang out with. For good, or bad. Especially in the games where they've known each other for years. Fought in numerous life and death situations. I would expect some easing of whatever rigid stance one character may have. And not just being influenced by my PC. But also in how they interact with each other.

DA team, you guys do the companion thing really well. Don't overthink it too much, tho and eff it up in the process. Please.

One small little thing, however. I surely wouldn't mind being able to partake in some of the companion festivities. At least on occassion. I mean, everybody's drinking and playing cards and stuff.....except for my PC.

Well said. DA teams companions have been great. I also had to step away when the choice was presented to spare or kill Anders. :pinched:

About the 'intact personalities', I think the hardening system we had in DAO was good. The rivalry/friendship system and its influence on characters in DA2 was alright. Its nice to see the characters shift a little bit in a believable direction based on your influence.

Hey - the thread was 5 days old - it's going to tank anyway so I figured I'd go off topic.

Thanks for linking this, great interview. David seems like such an easygoing guy as well, and very prone to go into informative rants about things he knows and cares about. Not at all unpleasant =)
