I myself am kind of split on this issue and was wondering if any of you fine people feel a set way about this. When I play amongst friends, I never give a damn about how many points I have. On the other hand, when I play with Randoms I tend to get competitive. I go out of my way to let the other 3 kill their little groups of enemies, but depending what wave and what enemy I get, I always run up to a spawn and Carpet Bomb anything I see. That way, I wont be accused of kill stealing (Yes, there are people who **** about that). Or, if one of the players is acting like a douche and think they know it all, I make it a point to outperform him just so he can shut-the-****-up.
What are you thoughts on this? Do you care or Don't give a shiet?

I don't find score particularly important. It's not a terribly accurate indicator of contribution.

I do care about score. I like to be at the top of the board. but don't get me wrong, I won't play differently if I'm not, and I certainly won't leave/whine about not being top.

Hard to say how I would feel about a scoring system if it accurately measured contribution. I certainly don't care about the scores we get in ME3 MP though.

I like it when I'm #2-3, if I'm #1 maybe I'm carrying, if #4 maybe I am being carried.

If all the people playing the match come across as skilled players, then I could care less about the scoreboard. If some of them act stupidly or use mind-boggling builds/load-outs, then I will often try to bury them on the scoreboard as a slap of sanity in the face.

I try not to be last place, and I try to keep pace with the rest of the group. If we are all within 2-3k of each other, we usually had an easy game. If I'm blowing everyone out of the water by more than double their score, I probably had to work a lot harder than I should have to get the match completed. I'm rarely bottom scorer but I'm not always the top, and I like it that way. I don't get kicked for being a showoff, and I try to be helpful to the team so I don't get kicked for being a loaner. I've only been kicked from a match twice. Once I joined and was immediately kicked before I even saw the opening screen, and once we completed a match and I refused to die and do the credit glitch, so after we finished they kicked me. Other than that, I've had no complaints.

It depends on the class/role I am playing. Sometimes I just sit there and setup BE. Sometimes I just set off the BEs. If I am using my SI, I expect to have a ton of points. If I use my SE or AJ, I am sad when I'm the top scorer.

Unless my friends and I are specifically trying to outscore each other, I don't really care where I stand. I may check it to see how someone else is doing when it doesn't seem like they are carrying their weight.

I like being at the top, but that's only if it happens to end up that way, I never actively seek to be at the top. I like to watch peoples backs a lot and you generally end up racking up points making sure no one gets the jump on the team anyway.

If I am using my Infiltrator, if I'm not number 1 I'm doing something wrong (hard for others to keep up with a Black Widow). Other classes...as long as I'm pulling my weight then no complaints.

Ppl on bsn obviously care if you spend much time reading here. The 'no i dont care about scores in coop' is mostly just lip service.

Yup, I have to be number one. If I'm not I don't feel that I've done my job. However, this is simply my self imposed challenge. I typically outscore pub's 40k>, but it doesn't mean they weren't a good team to play with. Not getting downed, playing objectives correctly, knowing when to use consumables, not getting tunnel vision and getting flanked is more important than my ability to obtain a high score.
I will say that if a player can't break 30k in an entire gold match needs to re-asses his/hers playing style.

So long as I'm not on the bottom... Nah, it's fine. In Gold, getting the game done is what matters. I suppose if I still played silver I'd possibly mind more. Bronze just... What are you proving? That you're a faster shot?

No. It should be all about accomplishing the mission but I often play with friends and randoms that check the scoreboard after every wave if not several times during the wave.

Not really. At the end of the game, we all get the same creds.

People who say they don't care are liars. Everyone is innately competitive, even if it is co-op. Everyone has an ego on some level.
