Do You Care About Being #1? / Scoreboard

If it's frozen and someone else can smash it , I let anyone near me do it and go to the next target, if it's something I can't freeze right away , I slow it , strip the shield then freeze again, I also freeze/slow anything that other players are shooting to make the fights shorter ( AoE freeze with 10% more damage).
The freeze/fire combo also make sure that anything around my target is at least slowed.
I do my job , more than my job in fact , which is to make sure the team lives to the end .
I don't get the best score , but most of the time the team lives because of me.

That means I'm usually 4th, though not with a terrible score.
But I'm very focused on target kills, 4 or 1 hack objectives, and reviving team-mates.
When things go wrong, I'm often the last player standing, and I save missions with a <5 seconds target missile, or a solo wave clear (cautiously of course).
The 'full extraction' makes me most happy. That matters, not the score order.

But, I don't care about anyone else's score, because in truth I know score isn't everything. Someone who's getting much less points than others can still be useful, doing stuff like getting devices, resurrecting people, and overall just being a good team-player. I've only played bronze/silver so far, but I've never felt the need to kick anyone other than afkers, as long as they're trying, they'll be nice to have around.
What I don't appereciate is the people who prioritize points over everything else. Now, I seek kills and such, biggest groups to keep me busy and I admit I propably killsteal a bit, sometimes I'm too focused on survival of me and others to care. But when there's an objective, I do my best to do it instead. But so many times someone is outside all the time during the hacking, killing the enemies to top the scoreboard instead of helping his team directly. Those are the people who got the wrong idea.
So yes, I care about being the first on the scoreboard, it what makes me feel good after a match, as then I feel useful. But I know points don't matter for much, with bronze/silver anyway.

My favorite runs are where everyone is within a thousand points of each other and no one does anything stupid putting themselves in harms way just to try and get points so they can say they are first.

It depends upon the class I'm playing. Sometimes I'll be in the top two. If I'm playing pure shooter (infiltrator) I'll be on the bottom -- I know I got more than 25 kills -- I was in the mid 40s. I'm just not as fast as the younger ones.

Own up to your faults and stop projecting them on others.

If I'm scoring about as much as the rest of the team combined, then I care.

Even if this were true, and I don't think it is, it wouldn't be a reason to care about the score in ME3 MP. The system in place is a poor one that won't actually tell you much beyond how many killing shots you got. The right class could leech for half a game and then steal enough kills to look like they were hard at work the whole time.
Edit: I will say the score is useful in identifying leechers early.

Lol...
I care about succesfully completing the match first and foremost. My ego is satisfied by knowing I actually helped during said match.
Besides, as many have pointed out, with the way the scoring system works, you can finish top and be a really bad teamate, while you can also finish last and be the true MVP.
