Actually it really depends for me, I had a 3 man gold run and I was just rolling the game but this one person playing an Asari adept made the game easy. They didn't have the points to show it but all the support work they did made the game easy. I told her she made the match after the game.

First is nice but sometimes you don't earn it, you may score like crazy but if your getting revived like 15 times a game your stinking it up.

If I play with a fully operational team I don't really care (although I do like the feeling of being 1st).
While playing with randoms, however, I really try to score first by a large amount, without dying too often. But I do this for a particular reason: if I score the most points with few deaths, they'll probably listen to what I'll say to them during the next game.

I only care about score if people whine about my loadout, or makes a habit of saying certain combinations are "inefficient", and can never work on gold but in reality have no idea what they're talking about.

I.E. Geth Engineer with a light sniper rifle instead of a Carnifex

I don't care if I am first. I'd like to be first even though it is meaningless is a cooperative game where we share the rewards evenly. I've never finished 2nd-4th and been upset or angry about it.

I care more about how well the team played together and how smooth the run went.

I'm even OK with being last when my decoy stood there and tanked 2 banshees and a brute while we were hacking. Or tanked 2 primes, 3 pyros and a hunter during the last 15 seconds of extraction.

I've been dead last by 10k under 3rd on Hydra with a Claymore Soldier, but I saved the adepts when hunters snuck up on them, and headshot pyros before they got close enough to flame us.

I do giggle sometimes when a run went really smooth and the final score has me at double 2nd place.

Personally no, generally come in 2nd or 3rd, sometimes last....doesn't really matter and for the most part I have played with some amazing players.

Still trying different weapon/character combo's to see what works the best for me.

I like being on the top of the leaderboard, but i will NOT sacrifice my team to do so, its a posterity thing...make me feel good to see my name at the top, but if i'm on the bottom and we kick gold's a-hole out its mouth...why in the world would i complain?!?

I care, mostly since I've been playing fps games pretty competitively in the past lol. That being said if I get outscored by a decent player I don't really mind, it is co-op after all.

Kinda of depends on what class I'm playing though, if I'm using a wierd class or playing on a laggy host I don't focus on it much.

THIS. Human Sentinel, with Eagle. Top of scoreboard will shut most people up...but in the flip side...when i have a team with GOOD snipers or GOOD biotics...i get my butt kicked and then laughed at... T.T

I'd rather play with this type of player than with those who score #1 any day.

Score is bad for Gold, and I stopped caring a long time ago.  People who put score on a pedestal do stupid things.  You know the type - they go off chasing spawn points to get the most kills, leave a flank unprotected just to get in on kills happening from another direction (never mind that it's being handled perfectly fine), hold of on DPS until they can guarantee the kill shot, etc. etc.

Being #1 in score just means you were better at padding your stats than anyone else - it's notthing to brag about.
