It has been like 1.5 months since EC was announced. And still there is no news of when the EC is going to b released. So, its probably gonna take them 1 month more for its release. So my question is, whats taking them so long if the EC simply contains Cut scenes and simply no gameplay at all.?? Even if cutscenes r going to b 30 minutes long, which I dont think they r going to b, and even if the cut scenes are going to b of 16 types for the 16 different endings, I dont think it shud take 3 months to do that.

Dont get me wrong.  I m happy to give them more time for EC, although I have very less hopes it wud please me in any way.  Still, for masses howling for the better ending, it cud do some good, So I dont want it to b a rushed job. Still, I m curious what is taking them so long.?

EDIT: I really think some people dont read the whole post here. So I have made some important stuff bold

When it was announced they said: Late June to early July. Then it has to go to Microsoft for certification for the 360. I'd rather have them take their time and get it right.

my opinion at this point it's definitely more than just cutscenes showing how much shepard screwed up. Judging by how mysterious they are about this EC and how long it's taking, it must be something epic. They want speculation? I'll speculate:

what if EC turns out to be the entire last part of the game that was missing from vanilla. assuming that digital seizure in the last few minutes was indeed what indoctrination feels like, shepard breaks free of harbinger's hold, and begins the assault on the crucible. Should be suicide mission esque involving not only your squadmates but also the war assets you collected. Lots of drama and epic battle sequences will ensue and your choices actually matter! should be a sequence where shepard alone must make his way to the pinnacle of the crucible to confront harbinger, all the while harbinger is forcing shepard to relive past experiences in his mind but twisted and corrupted (max payne nightmares anyone?). Shepard somehow boards harbinger to destroy him from the inside, we can see what a reaper ship looks like also, long corridors and strange angles I believe martriarch benezia said. mind ****age should be at maximum in harbinger. anyway shepard destroys harbinger's power core in a last boss fight and...idk

This has been my thought since the beginning, more or less. I've always thought that maybe Bioware intended to release several story DLC's (ie Retake Omega, etc.) then for a grand finale, they would release the actual ending to the game as the last bit of DLC. (Great from a story-telling perspective, not from a business though). Of course they underestimated fan outrage and had to move that last DLC up to where we are now.

Well at least BW still somewhat understands the concept of "sense" by taking their time.

I'm not in a hurry, I don't think anyone really is, everyone just wants the ending to be logical and give closure to the characters we liked, BW taking their time is a good sign.

What if they release a PR statement saying that the EC was a lie and they're all moving to Argentina where they will have no internet access?

You know Argentina has a lot of angry ME fans as well?

they probably haven't started, to busy making exciting multiplayer dlc with new skins, and to unlock the extra content that was already on the disk

1. Diffrent studio is doing MP
2. Voice actors of squadmates are confirmed to do voice over for EC
3. All locked content on disk can already be unlocked and those are only pre-order, Collector Edition and crossover promotion weapons and uncustomizable armors

Well, they got voice actors to do their voices. That's a start.

It's just your assumption that it won't contain gameplay, they didn't state anything actually about it, just some obscure things.
Also Gamble and Merizan both kind of hinted new gameplay added via their twitters.

I find it funny that 90% of the people in this thread completely missed OP's point

Hes not saying rush the EC

Hes saying Bioware needs to stop claming up and start actually talking to their fans instead of this "we're listening" deafening silence that we are getting, also an apology for thinking that fan base who didn't like the ending are nothing but stupid morons who didn't understand biowares art would be nice....but we're all making sacrifices this summer.

So my question is what is taking them so long, because all they said was that it would only contain scenes and dialog but no gameplay at all? Even if the cutscenes are going to be 30 minutes or longer(which I dont think they will be), and even if the cut scenes are going to be 16 different types of endings that reflect our choices, I dont think it should take 3 additional months to do that.

Dont get me wrong.  I'm happy to give them more time for EC if necessary, although I'm not hopeful that I would enjoy it in any way.

I dont want it to be rushed out the door, but I m curious as to what is going on behind the scenes since bioware has been so silent on the matter.

EDIT: I really think some people didn't read the whole post here. So I have made some of the important stuff bold

OP, if your still visiting this thread please replace your post with the above because part of the problem is that your grammer is not very good(sounds like you either did this on a cellphone or english is your second language). I'm not saying i'm perfect but this would at least make more sense for people who are having trouble understanding your thread.

Most people are willing to read your original post if they didn't have to try and translate your dialog, I know this first hand.

ichik@ -

An official press release went out today announcing how we re-prioritizing the Mass Effect 3 post release content schedule to provide a more fleshed out experience for our fans. For many of you the "Extended Cut" will help answer some questions and give closure to this chapter of the Mass Effect story. Oh and it's at no cost to you - the fan.

Here is a mini FAQ to help you understand what the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut is and isn't:

What can fans expect from the Extended Cut DLC?
For fans who want more closure in Mass Effect 3, the DLC will offer extended scenes that provide additional context and deeper insight to the conclusion of Commander Shepard's journey.

Are there going to be more/different endings or ending DLCs in the future?
No. BioWare strongly believes in the team's artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise. The extended cut DLC will expand on the existing endings, but no further ending DLC is planned.

What is BioWare adding to the ending with the Extended Cut DLC?
BioWare will expanding on the ending to Mass Effect 3 by creating additional cinematics and epilogue scenes to the existing ending sequences. The goal of these new scenes is to provide additional clarity and closure to Mass Effect 3.

When will the Extended Cut DLC be available?
Currently the Extended Cut DLC is planned for this summer, no specific date has been announced at this point.

Why are you releasing the Extended Cut DLC?
Though we remain committed and are proud of the artistic choices we made in the main game, we are aware that there are some fans who would like more closure to Mass Effect 3. The goal of the DLC is not to provide a new ending to the game, rather to offer fans additional context and answers to the end of Commander Shepard's story.

So there you have it. Are we proud of the game we made and the team that made it? Hell yes. Are we going to change the ending of the game? No. Do we appreciate the passion and listen to the feedback delivered to us by our fans? Very much so and we are responding.

Be good to each other and Summer is coming...

bioware specifically stated that they were only adding cinimatics and dialogue in there last official communication back in april.

They're gonna show an expansion on endings that contain no gameplay at E3? They do that?

Anyway, I'd want to see FFVersusXIII at E3, definitely not likely since Nomura is an idiot that doesn't want to promote any kind of games he creates that doesn't have the words ' Kingdom Hearts' in it..FML

^ I doubt Nomura is an Idiot. He's not only VERY busy with Versus XIII, but he is also working on the Final Installments for the Kingdom Hearts Series. He's also got A LOT of Characters to Create and Redesign.

Anyway, back on Topic. Taking there time is a GOOD thing.

No. I believe the EA's CEO specifically said in a press release that the EC DLC will only contain cutscenes, which will furthur elaborate the consequences and meaning of the end choices. There is not going to b any kind of change to the ending, whatsoever. What is done is done. They r not going back to ME3, they r gonna extend on what happened after u made the choice, Synthesis, Destroy or Control. And this leaves little to no room for more gameplay, not to mention it wud b pointless to add gameplay once Reapers r defeated, IMO. :(

Would be a shame though. The possibilites for an expanded ending are there, and could provide a very tense and entertaining conclusion to Shepards battle. As long as they confirm that the star child scene was exactly what it felt like - unreal, you can build up and continue the story. And I don't only refer to a certain theory that shouldn't be named, there are other ways too...

But I am afraid they won't go any of these routes...but if the EC sucks, I wodner how many other DLCs will be released and how successful they will be...they should really consider to screw all those plans for future Single-DLC and put those ressources into a addon-like Ending-expansion... I would buy it.

My first reaction was E3 2012, but then again, wouldn't that be bad PR to promote an alternate ending because the first one sucked ?

Honestly. I think E3 is going to blow in the Bioware department. DA3...maybe, but for Mass Effect? It's going to be PAX East all over again. New super cool MP maps for everyone. Is it free, as long as you don't sue or maim!

I'm just waiting for bethseda to anounce Fallout 4 at E3, and my life is complete.
As for EC, I might get it, to see what they did and I don't think it will impress me or make me happy.

Urhm, it takes time to create new cutscenes and pre-rendered movies, insert new dialogues etc. You're complaining that they're taking time to make it good?

And I doubt they will show anything at E3. I mean, everything they would show in potential EC presentation/trailer would be ending spoilers

official announcement at E3.  or the whole "look over here at what we're doing now and don't pay any attention to ME3 whatsoever" routine.  like they did at PAX.

Problem is. if they released it early it would be rushed and ****** people off. but at the same time a lot of people will just give up the longer it isnt released. no win situation to an extent, unless they had done it right the first time

@soulprovider, now watch as everyone either completely ignores the press release again or dismisses it as "vague PR speak" so that they can keep complaining about how Bioware "isn't communicating" and speculate wildly about what the EC is going to entail even though we've been told exactly what it does and doesn't do in the clearest terms possible.

Sigh.
