My favs are Witch Hunt, Return to Ostagar, and Leliana's Song. The Golems of Amgarrak (not sure if that is spelled right) is right up there, as well.

Thank you! I also think that Return to Ostagar and Witch Hunt are best. The King must be buried with honour!

"Stone prisoner" usually comes with the game, but if you don't have it, that's the obvious first purchase - Shale is a great character, and that DLC includes lots of game content too.

Unfortunately, it doesn't contain "Stone prisoner". Possibly it's because of my late purchase. But after reading your post I've decided to buy another 1600 points for it next month. The first 1600 points have already been used for Return to Ostagar, Witch Hunt and Warden's Keep.

^ Yes, the "Stone Prisoner" is definitely worth it's cost; I think it has the most content of the DLCs, and as said, it brings a new companion to you. A hint: take Shale with you when you do the deep roads quests in Orzammar.

Thank you! Then I'll buy it before I get Orzammar

Warden's Keep in definitely a good choice. I should have included that in my initial reply. And Stone Prisoner, too.

Can't believe no one mentioned Awakening. It's expensive, but builds on the end well and even answers a few questions. I'll never forget when I called the Dark Wolf on his name, explaining that I was the real Dark Wolf! Or of course, the last big choice.
Apart from that, Witch Hunt was the best. For my Mage who had romanced Morrigan it was perfect, and almost a tear jerker when I returned to where to all started with my Dalish elf.

I like Warden's Keep the best. This one should be included in the main game since it actually provided some background information of Grey Wardens.

I actually only just bought the Awakening expansion. Playing through it now.
Though for anyone considering gettting it, don't buy it off the site as a DLC - quite incomprehensibly, the price for the DLC on the site has not gone down at all from when it was released. You can get the physical copy for a fraction of the cost. I ordered it through a local computer/games store, and it cost me about 10 euros.

My order of preference:
1) Stone Prisoner - great content and Shale is fantastic....some of the best banter in the game, hands down!
2) Warden's Keep - good background info, some nice gear, and a new place to shop and store things.
3) Awakenings - Nice expansion, and some interesting new characters. Gameplay is...hmmmm...so, so, but still an enjoyable (and longer) extra bit of content.
4) Return to Ostagar - Good gear to loot, and a poignant moment (helpful to bring those companions that were at Ostagar originally....ex. Alistair, Wynne, even Morrigan).
5) Witch Hunt - not a great fan of this, but I found one of the new companions kind of fun. And one of the fights is interesting.
6) Golems - Really didn't care for this DLC, though I thought the look of the final boss was kind of cool. You can unlock a couple of nice pieces that can be used in the main game (once Golems is completed).
7) Leliana's Song - Have no desire to play as one of the companions....just not interested. Played it once for one thing and one thing only: Battledress of the Provocateur!
8) Darkspawn Chronicles - Not my thing.
And of course, it goes without saying.....this is just MY tastes and preferences. Take or leave it as you see fit. Have fun with your choices!!

I like RTO, Shale, and Warden's Keep. Note they all take place within the main game.

should've gotten the whole thing on steam when it was $7.49 (base game, expansion, and all dlc included)

It's not easy to choose, as I honestly couldn't imagine playing without all the DLC. I bought the special edition thingamawotsit with all the DLC included, so I'm probably spoiled - But the game wouldn't feel right if I were to play it in it's 'vanilla' state.
Other than Awakening, which I'd regard more as an expansion than a true DLC, I suppose if I had to choose, I'd pick The Stone Prisoner, which is purely due to having Shale as one of my companions, and the fact that it offers the most content for your money.
Incidently, I have never played Darkspawn Chronicals, and have zero desire to do so. After spending so much time with my companions, and forming an emotional bond with them, killing them as a Darkspawn leaves me cold.

The only ones I bothered with are:
Stone Prisoner- I adore Shale
Wardens Keep
Return to Ostagar
The others personally, just wasn't interested in, but these three were worth it.

I liked Leliana's Song the best, but I always liked Leliana, so that was a large part of it.

First of all, I'd like to say many thanks to everyone here.
Yes, I've followed your advice and bought recommended DLC.)
However, I've made a foolish mistake to buy this game from local store not from Steam. Official languages in country where I live Kazakh and Russian. One physical disc for Dragon Age origin and another one for Awakenings but they're all in Russian language which don't support DLC in English. ((( I'm so upset. Several times I tried to find installation in English but failed. I feel that this wonderful game is incomplete without DLCs. Sorry, if it's wrong place to complain. Can U help me with it, please, I'm lost, don't know what to do.

Too bad you couldn't have ordered the Ultimate Edition online like from Amazon.com. That package offers both Origins and Awakenings, plus it comes with all the dlc that they made for it. Dang! I just check and its going for only $25 now.
