Grab a drink of water, check characters and load-outs. If someone's playing an AA, I usually switch to AJA (woot!). Or switch to whatever complements the group.
On gold, if there are any sub-level 20 characters, I pay more attention to N7 rating + load out to see if we stand a chance.

I do some push-ups, a bit of joging on the spot and some stretches
I inform my girlfriend that I need to go away for awhile, on a classified mission that I cannot discuss with her.
I tell her that if I end up missing in action or am killed that many will tell her she should move on with her life, that I would want her to be happy. I then clarify this is not the case. I would consider her moving on a betrayel and a slap in the face to my sacrifice. She must live a lonely existence if she truely wants to honour my memory

I pick my nose, usually. Also check the mouse laser for obstructions. I know I should do it in the reverse order, but I can't help myself.
I also check the equipment of other players and, since I do not use a mic, tell myself stuff like "I wonder how much money he had to spend to get that Avenger he's using to X if his single-digit character level is equal to his N7 level? And, more importantly, WHYYYY?"
Alternatively, "Why do you have to equip an ammo power for a Bronze match? Dude, you're level 20, are you swimming in them to waste them on Bronze?"
Then I look at my own equipment, think what someone else must be saying about my newly-discovered affection for the Striker, and start counting the beats in the background music while waiting for everyone to press "READY" already. Then I pick my nose again. Then I usually ragequit and go join another lobby in the hopes I will play today at least once =)
