I thought windows 7 didn't come out till this summer?
october 22 in the us it's been out a while. not to mention you can still use the RC until march 2010
That was my point how can one have built a computer with windows 7 in early spring when the launch was several months away, unless he had a demo version or something
it was released to OEM a while before then, I have seen win7 PCs before october. I merely upgraded from Vista. Mine's retail

I bought DAO through Steam three days ago along with L4D2. VERY VERY BAD MOVE. L4D2 worked immediately. DAO seemed to download & install ok. I can launch the launcher but it disappears as soon as I hit play. It goes no further. No instructions from steam at all on how to get to activate or run. I read on one forum to copy paste dazip files into the daupdater but there are no dazip files on my drive anywhere. Steam and EA/Bioware are passing the buck - no sorry, Steam is passing the buck and EA and Bioware have yet to respond. Total fail. The best I can get it to do is to return the PhysXLoader.dll error by launching the game .exe directly - and I have an HD5770 (and 3GB ram Athlon II x2 & XP32).

What a lame experience this has been. I'll never buy a game as a digital download again. At least with media I can take it back and stick it up someone's ....

and still nothing. i've uninstalled and reinstalled several times but
im not getting anything out of it. it made me waste my code that came
with the game. EA hasn't responded to my questions for a while now. so
this is complete **** until i get this game goin.

Carefull what you wish for you might get the naysayers Fanboys that might blame your system configs for the games performance. Yes same problems since release hasn't been fixed.

Similar to any high intensity 3d PC game, there are Requirements that apply.  Entrium chose to ignore those completely, and of course it didn't run (Intel video -- 'nuff said).

Lol Gorath, ur such a geek. Well, I don't even care anymore. I'm not going to waste any more money on games like this one. I've got my time set out, not like u who go on forums telling people they don't have a good comp and type and essay about it Lol. Oh well, not like this game is a MMORPG anyways. (Gorath, stop geeking up the forums. Get a job, kiss a girl, do something! "Nuff said" *cough*)

Dear god, where do I start?

Actually, I won't. Other than to ask "Is this a real person produced by two human parents?".

I cannot imagine a Technical Support forum that did not have people who know relevant facts about PC hardware and troubleshooting. Or 'geeks', apparently.

geeks make the world go round, go ahead, call me one too, I'll happily accept the COMPLIMENT. Seeing as I know tons about pc software and some stuff about hardware, you're flaming your own tech support, or at least trying and failing miserably

Knowing that Intel IGPs are garbage makes you a geek these days? What a low standard.

You'd be better off simply learning to read the little system REQUIREMENTS box. Then you don't have to waste money buying things you don't have the hardware to use.

Grow up.

I don't know what the tech-weenies before my generation were referred to as a derisive term, but when I was of an age for names to perhaps sting, it would have been "Square", and in some regards, perhaps I was, although I really thought of the guys who wore their slipsticks on a holster attached to their belts as the Squares in my school.  That was what kids had to use before there were pocket calculators.  The real name was "Sliderule", and pilots still use their own circular version even today.

For math classes, I had one of my own, but it resided in a pocket inside my zippered three ring notebook, mostly out of sight (one end may have protruded, as it may have been over eleven inches long, but that is a couple of lifetimes ago now, and not something that has ever been relived at any class reunion).

Its beyond me why anyone would say anything disrespectful about any of the people that offer their time to help anyone who needs it, there is no reason they have to, they are just being nice people. As far as their knowledge about computers goes, I wish I knew half of what they did, alot of these people have probably forgotten more then a good number of us know. Thanks again to everyone who offers assistance.

I have a brand new machine based on an I7 Quad Core processor, with 8 gigs of ram and 1gig of video ram on my Nvidia 895, running Windows 7. For the first week I got CONSTANT BSODs when launching the game. I found a small program that allowed me to look at my minidump files and found that when my Flash Voyager thumb drive that I had forgotten about , was the culprit.

Why this would cause the game to crash is beyond me. I pulled it out and no more BSODs...now everything is great and the game runs beyond flawlessly.

My point is ..like someone mentioned in the post.. that there are countless configurations of hardware out there, and sometimes the smallest of things can cause a game stopping event. No way the Devs can foresee all of them I guess. Luckily I got a BSOD that allowed me to have a way to look and see exactly what the deal was...if I had not, I would still be scratching my head over it. BTW, the thumb drive did not seem to bother any of my other games. go figure.

how about some system specs and a semi-detailed explination of the problem?

I was getting the Ostagar crash (cannot load area), got my copy through steam, when all seemed lost i was told to use the verify files command through steam, accesible through the drop down menu, it scanned, found a bad file, d/l the file again and now it works... i did notice the extreme load times towards the end of the game from the landsmeet on (could make a coffee, check the mailbox and it still hadnt got to the next area), restarting the game every so often seemed to fix this.

Im running I5-750 ,Win7 64bit with an 4890 ati card and 4gig ram (all stock speed), also the latest catalyst drivers, and i was told by some that neither the card or the drivers would work with this game, so it really does depend on the individual system config (or blind luck in some cases).

Awsome game btw, havent had as much fun with an rpg since ultima.

Perhaps he / she thinks (thought -- it's long enough ago that giving up is likely) that we are all clairvoyant?  Here's another topic, started by Daemonhorde:
