On a more serious note, n7 matters less than weapons. My n7 is around
1400, but I don't have near the amount of ultra-rares some n7 500-700s
do, simply because they play with lvl 20s more often than I do. The only
n7 ratings that mean something are those that are less than 100.
Doesn't necessarily mean the player is bad, just means they haven't
played enough to level their guns, which will make gold naturally more
difficult for them.
Exactly. Extremely low N7 ranks are more likely to be discrimated against because of this reason. Of course there are probably those that ignore the XP on character cards completely and never promote their characters. Or, they are good enough to do well with low level, common/uncommon weapons. I've played Silver and Gold matches with players that have N7 ranks around 100 that were more than able to carry their own weight. Team synergy is an amazing thing.
Quite frankly though, anyone who never promotes their characters in Multiplayer must not care about the benefit it gives you in the Single Player Campaign. My N7 rank is 1530 and I have something like 3725 pts. worth of N7 War Asset for my Single Player Shepards. It makes a big difference with regards to the choices you can make in the Single Player Campaign. With more default War Assets you can screw around a little more with your Paragon/Renegade choices or simply blast through the whole campaign quickly by ignoring a lot of the side missions. With a high default Readiness Rating you don't need as many War Assets to get your forces up to strength for the final showdown.
