During the ending at London when we are making our final rounds and saying goodbye to all of our squadmates, on my first playthrough Javik said that he was going to just die after the war with the Reapers was over.  He had no further purpose other than to fight the Reapers.  I don't remember what I did to cause this, but on my second playthrough.... Javik tells me that after the war he wants to go live with the Hanar, he could be a king among them.

You gave him the memory shard in the first playthrough.

Would you mind explaining this?

This. Apparently remembering all the friends he's killed makes Javik not so keen on being king of the hanar.

Did you sleep with Liara?

Yeah, he's fairly suicidal if you make him relive killing all his friends...

No, I didn't sleep with Liara on my first playthough. It was Ash. My second playthrough I started a new character from Mass Effect 3. That Shepard didn't romance anyone.

This is interesting, because when we get the EC it could mean a cutscene of Javik dying or living.

What's with the memory shard? The only thing I noticed regarding it was when after I obtained Javik from the mission, Liara asked what it was and he said "a memory shard...it contains only pain".

Never heard anything about it again...

Yeah, it's letting him look through the memory shard. On the playthrough where I told him not to look through it, he said he would probably write the book with Liara (she was my romance).

If you keep visiting Javik eventually he'll talk about remembering stuff from the shard but it being painful and if you say it's worth it he'll grab it and remember offing all his indoctrinated friends with a knife. Cripes. That makes him want to go die on some random planet after the war is over.

If he doesn't touch it he'll talk about traveling the galaxy and becoming king of the hanar.

:| Sleeping with Liara has no effect on Javik's mental state.

yeah, javik decides he can't live without his friends even if he's made a bunch of new ones if you remind him of them

But then in the Renegade option, he wants to use Hanar to his own benefits ://// Both options suck, where's out Neutral dialogue to make him just move in with Shep and be cool roomates!?

He's reliving the death of everyone he ever cared about. Going through it once was likely awful. Twice?

Rewriting the heretics as well. Also, being a jerk tends to backfire some.

Sometimes I think they designed the pure Paragon route for naive idealists. A lot of those decisions would have had terrible consequences outside of a video game. There are only a handful of cases where Paragon doesn't let you have your cake and eat it.

Wow, I'm astonished how numerous they are.
