Can a patch even fix graphical problems? I feel stupid for asking this.
Is it possible for the 360 version of DA:O to get a graphical fix?

I was just wondering as I've heard that the graphics problem was down to a coding error which lead to the 360 version looking awful compared to the PS3 and PC versions, not that the graphics make the game unplayable, I'm still enjoying the game.

I should have got it for the PC but it was on special offer at Game for £20 brand new on the 360.Matthew Young CT wrote...

Oh well, thanks for clearing that up.

It's probably down to memory issues the 360 has less memory and a lot less video memory than the minimum spec PC.

It could be done I think. I know that Fallout 3 went under a graphical upgrade through a patch from its original release.

Looking worse isn't a graphical software 'problem'. Its a hardware limitation. You can't fix hardware limitations with software.
They could release a graphical upgrade, but its going to make the game run slower.

In theory, a patch could improve the graphics quality of a 360 game - games can store data on the hard drive so they could always give it some updated models or textures or whatnot via patch. I don't know about a more conventional patch; I assume that would require the game to install fully rather than running the game itself off the disc. I'm no expert in console game engine design.
That said, it's unlikely the 'problem' is an easily fixable coding error. The 360 is just dated hardware. The PC version takes up about 3x as much space as a DVD can even hold, and requires minimum specs well beyond the hardware of a 360. The PS3 is also much more powerful than the 360 (although its RAM and GPU situations are also getting progressively worse compared to a modern PC), and games on the two normally look similar only because they are usually coded for the 360 and then poorly ported to PS3. PS3 native games have always looked better than anything the 360 is capable of.
FWIW, I own neither a PS3 nor a 360. If I'm a platform fanboy it's for the good ole' PC.

well i guess they could optimize things and all but there are 2 big big big problems in the end
1) the game was basically designed for the pc. they're not going to rewrite the whole thing, so there are limits to what they can do
2) aforementioned ancient hardware
