So I just got a blue screen, everything seems fine but just incase it happens again and I am not able to recover I would like a back up copy of my OS and system files and stuff on the External HDD just incase things go south.  Currently I already have a load of files on my external and I was wonding if making a "mirror" of my OS and internal HDD will erase or corrupt the files I already have on my external.

I plan on using the tutorial below to mirror my internal HDD

I'm about to goto bed, but after reading your post and off the top of my head, you wouldn't lose anything.

Unless the mirror tutorial mentions formatting the HDD, you should be ok.
