Why do Polish and Russian players add _PL and _RUS after their nick?

Mostly we using PL cose we want to play with each other and we are too shy to speak english.
Also we love to swearing in positive way that no one gets hurt, some ppl dont understand this and thinks we offend them.

That's the most logical reason I would assume. Personally I appreciate players adding their region to the name so I can judge whether or not I want to join the game. Nothing against Russian, asian, or Australian players, but the lag is so ridiculous I just can't play if you are hosting.XidZen wrote...

Join a game with eastern europeans and Russians, they don't stop talking. lol Well that's not exactly true either. People playing with their friends talk. The rest of us who don't talk don't own good head sets that are ideal for detect voice feature. If you don't have a good headset and the detect feature, then you shouldn't waste the finger on pushing the press to talk button while you are playing.Methanoid666 wrote...
to be honest i rarely hear even english speakers talk, heard the odd foreign spiel now and then but no idea what their on about, probably chit chat among friends etc, ME doesnt exactly need any communication after youve played it a while, people know exactly what their doing and looking out for b4 long.

Me Poland.
Me play Mass Effect.
Me want other Poland people from together. Play!
And srsly: the majority of online players are english speakers. And it's fun for you.
But us, Poles or Russians, would love to get into a lobby with our native speakers. It's just so much more easy to communicate in the heat of the battle.
I can only play ME when I have a spare hour or two. It's hard to build friendships over the console and even more difficult to build them with people from my country.
Adding _PL or _RUS (or using a nick that suggests one's nationality) helps a lot.
I do not use that trick, but I reckon it can be useful.
As much as I like listening to native english speakers, I'd love to play a match with only Poles in it. It would be much more comfortable and easy.
try to understand: we're the minority and we'd still like to enjoy a non-relevant chat between waves
cheers to all.
I'm in the same boat, I don't add PL to my tags but I sure do throw out a bit of Polish from time to time and see if anyone speaks it. Most of the time I just get a bunch of "what..."
When trying to throw some polish words i usually get the "vodka and zubrovka" response.

It could very well be both as sometimes people dont use the official country code. Unless we get some Thai gamer, we wont know for sure. IMO its more likely than running into an East Timor gamers.PraetorianVIII wrote...

Most of the times, the pure nickname is already taken...

You're liar, buddy. I'm from Poland, too.
Most of Polish folks in zeh Internetz swears because they think it's cool... And, sadly, when I see them doing so, I can't do anything about it...
For example, some English folk joined my room (me and 2 other Polish players) like few days ago, we started playing, the English player says something in his native language and what do the other 2 Polish players do?
"- Ty jebany cieciu, jak nie umisz po polsku to się nie odzywaj, chuju w dupę rżnięty.
- Jaki frajer, weź ogarnij gostka, po chuj się odzywa?
- Ja pierdolę, niech się pieprzy. SŁYSZYSZ, CIPO? WYPIERDALAJ.
- Właśnie! Przejmujemy tę grę <strange sounds, something between Godzilla and King Kong>
etc..."
I won't translate, too much swears per second.
Also, 99% of Polish swears said during a match are INDEED offending ones.

that was my reason too.pozdrowienia dla masefekciarzyo Revan x wrote...
You got it all wrong people. I am from Poland and the reason many of us add PL (excluding me, because I don't feel the need) is because when we are playing online we are searching for other polish players, it was encouraged by many polish websites where people who work there were inviting their readers to play with them in some online games like WoW, CoD itd.

I always wondered, I am for instance italian but I'd never add _ITA after my nick, polish and russian players instead appear to do that most of the times, is there any particular reason? Patriotism perhaps? Can any polish/russian player explain it to me?
Anyways, in Soviet Russia nickname add player after them.

You really wanted to make the Iceland joke, huh?Cundu_Ertur wrote...
Czech Republic is the government. The place is Czechia or Czesko. I think it should be called Czechland in English since that makes sense. Like Scotland is the land of the Scots, Poland is the land of the Poles, and Iceland is the land of the Ice-people.
Czech Republic is obviously the proper term, just in case someone got cofused.

The only confusion could be with Chechnya -- which is also officially called the Chechen Republic, and so confusion remains! Czesko would probably be the best English name since it's close to a transliteration of the official local name. Though Czechland works, too. I'm pushing for that. Slovakia and Slovenia are more confusing to me, though I can actually find both on a map.uzivatel wrote...

And yeah, calling Icelanders Ice-people amuses me. By the same logic the people of Ireland would be Ire-people, and if you've seen an Irish person get irate it would make sense in that way, too.
Not a lot of _IR tags on people, though, and they're a pretty darn patriotic bunch those Ire-people. Just ask the Engls.
