We've just deployed a new site feature where you can check the status of what your game has uploaded, and can help you figure out why your character data is not being updated on this site.

To get to it, visit your DA game profile page, then click on "Profile Diagnostics" in the sidebar.  It will analyze ALL FILES uploaded and give you extra information about what is likely wrong with your character data.

If you get a "cannot connect to server" error, just hit refresh (the backend servers are still swamped).

Mine says "Unable to connect to the on-line storage server." What do I do about this?

refresh the page when you get that error - it means the backend servers are still way too busy.

The Error Code 1005 - too many files uploaded for that character, means that the game uploaded more than 4 files for a specific character. This isn't a big problem unless it causes you to run out of space in the online storage server. The website will handle too many files for updating your player profile.

As Snoteye said you can delete that character and all the files associated with it should go away. This won't delete your character from the game but you will have to play that character again and cause it to get uploaded to the online storage server before it shows up on the website again.

If you are receiving the the message "Invalid persona/game combination" please PM me the URL you get for the diagnostics page.  This error should only show up if the URL is not properly formed.

Update:  thanks for all the PM'd URLs we have enough to identify the problem.

I get "Error Code 1000 - No characters were found in your on-line storage."

But.. that's just the problem in the first place. Didn't really help much :(

That actually helps a lot - it means that your game hasn't *uploaded* anything (rather than it having uploaded old/corrupt/etc files), and means that your problem can be solved by poking your game install in various ways.   We'll get a list of "next steps" up in various spots as soon as possible.

@Adaram unfortunately we don't have access to the last time a file was updated in the online storage server so we can't show this information.

Also if i may ask, isn't the cap of 100 files rather severe?

The upload limits are controlled by the game team and are set that low to prevent in-game issues - it's entirely unrelated to the amount of scaling done by this website on your screenshots.   If you want to share a high-res version, the original screenshots can be found in your "My Documents" folder on your computer.

The ultra-quick reference on the error codes:

* "unable to connect to server" - hit refresh, try loading the page again.

* FATAL SCARY EXCEPTION ERROR - hit refresh, try loading the page again. (we're working on this one)

* "too many files" - not a problem unless you've maxed out your space, in which case deleting screenshots and any characters with too many files will resolve it

* "too few files" - your game is NOT UPLOADING DATA, and you need to try things like changing equipment, manually re-saving, etc to get it to do so.

* no characters listed at all - your game is NOT UPLOADING DATA, and you need to try things like changing equipment, manually re-saving, etc to get it to do so. Alternately you could have multiple gamertags/accounts involved, at which point that needs to be resolved

* everything is reported as okay but things are out of date - this could be because your game hasn't uploaded data lately, in which case do the same as "too few files". It could also be something else, in which case please post over in the social.bioware.com site help forum with details and we will investigate.

Deleting your account will not resolve the issue of having multiple personas. The website will still detect the same one it's detecting now. We recently deployed some code to detect multiple personas and that is why they are starting to appear. We are also working on allowing you to be able to switch between personas.

What about the 100 files (maxed out storage), 7 characters, 72 screenshots the diagnostic reports on one of them - when there are none there because they've already been deleted? Anyone got any clues?

Apparently deleting files is currently hit-and-miss online due to backend server load - when managing screenshots on this site, try deleting some, hitting refresh, and re-delete them if they persist.   We're working on the root cause, but persistence should work in the meantime.

We just deployed a way to switch between gamer tag/persona profiles on the Dragon Age player profile page. This is so users with multiple gamer tags for a single system can switch between their profiles now.

Thanks for the PM notifications about the diagnostic URL. I have enough of them now to troubleshoot the problem.

We are aware that people with pictures in multiple personas/gamer tags might not be able to choose their character portraits as profile photos on the social site. We will be fixing that.

Thanks for the suggestions on removing, hiding or setting personas as default.

Problem: the diagnostic tool shows that files are stored on the server, taking up limited storage space, despite the characters having been deleted from our profile page and ingame.

The diagnostics page lists how may of the uploaded files are screenshots.

Question: is it possible that those pesky files are in the Dragon Age Album? Which we can no longer edit or delete. It seems to me that these 'remnant' files started to proliferate around the time that ability was removed. Of course, that could be coincidence, but ...

The screenshots are uploaded by the game - the "Dragon age album" merely shows what the game already uploaded.

Further question: If that IS where they are lurking, could we have some functionality returned to us that will enable us to choose to delete the folder and create a new one - or (for preference) to edit the contents of the folder, deleting individual files connected to defunct characters?

To get rid of already-uploaded screenshots, use the "manage screenshots" page from your player profile.

To prevent the game from uploading more screenshots, change your upload options in-game.
