We've just deployed a new site feature where you can check the status of what your game has uploaded, and can help you figure out why your character data is not being updated on this site.

To get to it, visit your DA game profile page, then click on "Profile Diagnostics" in the sidebar.  It will analyze ALL FILES uploaded and give you extra information about what is likely wrong with your character data.

If you get a "cannot connect to server" error, just hit refresh (the backend servers are still swamped).

Yeah, just checked it out.

I receive an error code 1005 for too many files but according to the summary below I have only uploaded 42 of 100 allowed. Why the error code?

Indeed. We need a guide on the next step.

I have the same error on Julane, but I don't have any screenshots uploaded although it says she has 57 files (too many). That's after already deleting her before, so not sure where to go from there.

I got an error code 1004 which stands for "No Story XML".

Will check back in an hour or so to see if that i still the case or not since I just logged in in-game and changed some of my equipment and saved the game after that.

Thank you!

Ooh! So we're not limited to 100 screenshots, we're limited to 100 files. I had 86 screenshots and 12 files uploaded from three characters. When I tried to get a fourth character up, I could only post two of the four files... so stuff didn't get uploaded.

Time to clear out some screenshots.

I just noticed that none of my stuff is updated on the site and I've been playing since release day. How sad is that. But I found the diagnostics instantly and... error 1005 on my main playthrough. Now what?

Hmm.

Weird. It seems like for whatever reason, my third character has never attempted to be uploaded, as the diag page makes no mention of them. What's really needed is a definate way to force the updating of specific character profiles, not unlike the upload function of the character builder or from uploading screenshots.

At this point, I'm at a loss of what else to try to make my 3rd characters profile update.

Did you upload the character after first creating it? I might be wrong here, but it seems that this occurs to those that create a character and go right into the game without first uploading it after creation. I haven't done any testing my self - just an observation.

I get "Error Code 1000 - No characters were found in your on-line storage."

But.. that's just the problem in the first place. Didn't really help much :(

I only mention the character builder because I thought it had the upload function. Never actually uploaded from it, all my characters were created from within the game itself.

3 of them uploaded fine, but my elven rogue just doesn't want to update. As far as I know, I didn't really do anything different with that character. Any mods I had for it I've used with other characters that uploaded fine...

EDIT: Looking at the builder, I see there wasn't actually a function for manual uploading...thought I read there was, but guess I was wrong.

The standalone Character Creator has the manual upload function, but you need to save the character before being able to use it. Unless they made some changes since the CC first got released, it should be still there.

How come there are 4+ files files uploaded per character? A few weeks ago we were told the CC characters' upload consisted of 3 files and the game characters' upload of four (the 3 'regular' and the story XML). Still, in the diag page i see 10 and 12 files uploaded for my characters and the obvious 'too many files (code 1005) error.

Since the error codes are showing up individually per character, i'm going to assume they don't (only) refer to the overall count of files but the count of files for each character. We won't know this for sure until someone officially clarifies it. How many files do you have uploaded for your character(s) individually? If it exceeds 4, it's a potential cause for the error code in my books. 'course i might be wrong.

So why does the diagnostic page say I only have 2 characters uploaded and 27 screenshots while the game claims I have 47files uploaded (from 4 characters). That, and it still doesn't explain why my other characters don't show up even those uploaded with the character creator...

Well, this is interesting.. on the website my achievements are all out of date, and it doesn't show diagnostics for any of my characters. But if I go to "Online Profile" from in game, it brings up a webpage with all my achievements up to date, and if I do diagnostics all of my characters are there.

One of them has no errors but still won't show up on the site, the other two have the dreaded 1005 error...

<snip>

There is a known bug with the game that causes it to upload duplicate files, resulting in the 1005 error. Fortunately the server is actually able to detect this (and thus report the error) and should correctly delete all files associated with a given character. If you have duplicate files, delete the character.

NB: I have twice today attempted to delete a character with no luck.

Mine says "Unable to connect to the on-line storage server." What do I do about this?

When I am in game, it seems to connect, but my only character that I am currently playing has Error 1005 (too many files?). The characters I have yet to play get 1004, but that makes sense since I have yet to play them.

refresh the page when you get that error - it means the backend servers are still way too busy.

The Error Code 1005 - too many files uploaded for that character, means that the game uploaded more than 4 files for a specific character. This isn't a big problem unless it causes you to run out of space in the online storage server. The website will handle too many files for updating your player profile.

As Snoteye said you can delete that character and all the files associated with it should go away. This won't delete your character from the game but you will have to play that character again and cause it to get uploaded to the online storage server before it shows up on the website again.

If you are receiving the the message "Invalid persona/game combination" please PM me the URL you get for the diagnostics page.  This error should only show up if the URL is not properly formed.

Update:  thanks for all the PM'd URLs we have enough to identify the problem.

That actually helps a lot - it means that your game hasn't *uploaded* anything (rather than it having uploaded old/corrupt/etc files), and means that your problem can be solved by poking your game install in various ways.   We'll get a list of "next steps" up in various spots as soon as possible.

I did get that error, and do get that error periodically, but not when I want to get it so I can email you the URL :P

By the way, it would be really helpful to know the "last date/time" uploaded as part of that matrix of data. I deleted my play through character, and she is still on that list, but I suspect that is because things have not been updated since I deleted her.
