I didn't game for a week after the ending (barring a circumstance where someone pleaded for me to get on MP to help), so I understand the feeling. Even now, going back to WoW and doing more MP sometimes takes effort, but I'm getting back in my groove. And reading a lot.

Take your time, and when you're bored, try picking up something you know and love. If you've never played it, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion/Shivering Isles is a great brainless run-around RPG. The exploration and customising your character is fun.

This can happen until you start playing Diablo III.

Then it goes away.

Since playing ME3 and completing it within a few days of release, I've been part of the whole retake movement, mass migration to the forums, ect. and for the most part have gotten over the post-ending stress disorder (PESD) and moved on, even if bioware won't be seeing my money from now on.

One thing that has NOT recovered however, is my love of gaming. My Xbox has literally not been turned on since the Mass effect 3 disc was removed and returned to gamestop about 2 months ago. It's not like a concious choice or rejection of gaming, but it really killed my motivation to play anything at all. I can't even play ten minutes of the Witcher 2 on PC, which I haven't even completed yet, without getting disinterested and shutting it down.

On the bright side, I've started reading obsessively and am most of the way through the wheel of time series. Similar experience to you guys or are you reacting differently?

I went through that myself, but i did find a game that halped pull me out of it perhaps it will do the same for you?  the game is Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning, it  did get me out of the not wanting to play any games slump.

I did like KOA, it was a lot of fun. My only gripe with the game is the level cap... you hit it way too early if you're running around doing everything (which I did).

Sadly, I played that BEFORE ME3. Oops. As it is... I haven't really played any games. Well, I do play the ME3 multiplayer, as that feeds into my own personal continuity as opposed to the so-called "ending". Haven't had the heart to play Diablo 3 with how grimdark Blizzard likes to do things. Should break out Civ 5 when the June expansion comes out. Making my own religion should be entertaining. :wizard:

Sucks when you antienders get a taste of your own medicine doesn't it? This feeling of inevitable and undeserved rolling, that's what non-anti fans feel everytime they post.

Enjoy the sorrow, both sides have earned it.

I agree OP. I bought the Witcher 2 for the sole purpose of getting me back into gaming. That was a month ago I'm still only halfway through Act 2. I just can't seem to find the enthusiasm to really play a game right now.

because mass effect three is culmination of the mediums new direction.....Your best bet is to find indie games, and medium developers and publishers.

The problem we face without many fans realizing it is we saw the future of the industry in mass effect 3 with a bleaker future still to come.

The four biggest money grabbing techniques present in ME3 for me at least are
1) Dollar for card pack micro transaction multiplayer that is required to get the perfect "ending" in what has always been a single player experience.(I know they reworked the formulas but this is pre-patch launch info)
2) Day 1 disc locked content with a download to unlock the the quest and the full character
3) False advertising as stated by the BBB
4)Completely open ended "ending" that is left open on purpose for more than speculation. Even with the EC coming out it is still going to leave everything open so EA can sell a new ending(s) 6-8 months after the EC onces the fervor created by the endings has calmed down.

EA/Biowares behaviors present in the public eye
1) Bioware's insult to fans regarding the matter in stating that we are to stupid to understand their art.
2) EA's using of our outcry to spread more false advertising regarding the game, in order to sell more copies(the 75 perfect scores email)
3)EA's use of political agendas, just because we haven't figured it out doesn't mean it hasn't happened(reference the your mom hates this game advertising for dead space 2, and the court case hitting the supreme court during the  time the advertising was put out)
4) Bioware releasing the bare minimum of information to shut us up before the pax panel(EC announced april 5th, pax panel april 6th)
5) Bioware telling the fans that they are listening to the fans feedback and instead of talking with te fans about what they were trying to accomplish with the ending, they shut down from the publisc eye and make every attempt to prevent people from questioning them about their game in direct contact(people being kicked from twitter, or the "not discussing the endings" statement before the pax panel, and throwing decent members of the writing team under the bus..

Side note: not to mention EA's other practices at trying to get as much money as possible from consumers with the latest thing being trying to force battle field 3's players to rent their online servers for a mostly online game. Then we have the whole Securom/spore scandal of the past and now the origin beta service with many flaws and at first permanent bans with over zealous mods during the initial launch of battle field 3.

When you couple all of these things together it makes for a pretty grim gaming future for any games purchased from EA, and when you add in the fact that the rest of big seven publishers(microsoft, capcom, sony,
activision/vivendi,2kgames, and ubisoft) are not only doing the same tihings but adding to them in various ways it makes a very disturbing industry trend. So I do not blame you OP, we are in for dark days indeed when it comes to gaming, but the bright side is there are medium and smaller developers that self publish or have built enough of a reputation that they create good things. The few good developers i've come across that stand to threaten these big seven are; rockstar(red dead, LA noire, max payne 3),remedy(alan wake, american night mare), Cdkprojectred(witcher 1 and 2) and croteam(serious same 3)..

Me personally I can tip toe through the mine fields but I have a list, when the big seven do something I don't like anymore they get boycotted and that list is below;

1) EA has been on that list for a while, I held out hope for bioware but I was a fool, no PC or console purchases from now on

2)activision/blizzard/vivendi - grew tired of the cookie cutter antics and after playing diablo 3 more and more ticted off by how blizzard handled the whole thing, not to mention that for a series I sunk whole years worth of time into and greatly enjoyed the challenge i'm stuck with something that is more boring and and completely too easy even on hard mode, not to mention the always online component and the 4, yes 4 terms of service agreements I have to sign just to play the game.

3) Microsoft/sony - only if the new console rumors are true.

4)capcom - after playing RE5, and finding out the multiplayer component was already on the disc and had to DL a code to unlock it, then also finding out hat RE5 was a clone of RE4 just without the story being the same. Now theiy're pulling the chopping off the ending bs and selling to fans a month after the games released(azura's wrath)

5)2kgames/gearbox - they are responsible for the disaster that was duke nukem forever and the nothing but co-op borderlands game

6)Ubisoft: the assasins creed series is the only one i'm willing to get, but their always online tactics are starting to worry me, i'll see hope they treat this series but i'm starting to sense a milking machine in the making, we shall see.

So OP as I said before I completely understand your sentiment, it will take time and as long as you avoid the top seven publishers you will find developers that appreciate their fans.

EDIT: lots of spelling errors, and sentences that just made no sense.... had ot fix them.

Same for me. I can't play any game. be it GTA IV, Skyrim, good old Alpha Centauri, Batman:AC, The Witcher 2, Deus Ex:HR. I can't bring myself to start it. Or if I start a game, I turn it off after half an hour. Sometimes I play a little bit minecraft.
Hell, I even quit EVE Online...

I haven't touched my Xbox since then but my PC has seen a fair bit of use. Going back to a variety of games has helped (X-Com, Bioshock, Prototype, Hitman, Tropico, etc.)

If my blu-ray drive hadn't gone **** up the day before ME3's release, I'd have more options for gaming. As it stands, I have retro games downloaded on the HD, the excellent Walking Dead Episode 1... and ME 2 and 3. So, I'm still playing despite the admitted nerd rage I feel about the endings, Tali's face, etc.. It is a terrific game (overlooking some of the most obvious nit-picking), and the MP is quite fun for a while. Putting on the ol' rose-colored glasses, I have faith that Bioware can "fix" at least some of the things I feel are wrong about the endings. Resolution with the characters is all I want really. Give me that, and we're good.

And so you decide to make them suffer for not showing resentment or hate, and strive to drive and isolate them on the forums, a place they have just as much a right to post on as you do.

Steps have been made by fans to make many feel unwelcome on the forums. I was merely expressing the humor of the ones making others suffer and feel bad about themselves trying to act like they are innocent and don't deserve to be trolled.

Both sides have their ****s, proenders aknowledge individuals such as mintycool as a jerk and a problem. Antienders just brush they're problem posters off as being justified or give them a slap on the wrist. You guys don't reign in the ****s, you guys get less sympathy from me.

Play something simple or fun that can help ease you into it again, maybe without the huge lore. Portal or skullgirls is good, maybe a game series you know you'll like garuntee. For me those are graham asylum, grand theft auto, red dead redemption, portal, and assassins creed.

Im sure you'll have 1 game like that that isn't mass effect, its not like the xbox is devoid of selection. You.just have to sit down and start youll be into it in no time.

However finish your books first, that way you get the best of both worlds. Harry Dresdan is a good series.

I've actually been playing Heavy Rain pretty frequently. Now that's a game that takes into account all of your actions and actually provides you with consequences based on those actions. I'm on my third play through, trying to get all 20-something endings.

Yes!! And you made me thinking: imagine sci-fi Heavy Rain! ME series almost achieved it. I understand very little in such things, but I feel that their cooperation with EA was really bad move.

This is exactly what I'm going through. My enjoyment of games has completely vanished after ME3. I tried Witcher 2 and just can't get into it. I might pick up my controller once a week now. If Bioware can screw up a story so badly that it makes their game unplayable for me, then what hope would I have in any other studio?

right xsdob, because you can see I am one of them right? you think ALL of us brush off problem posters as justified? No,we aknowledge anger and depression do not help but we do not justify it all and saying otherwise is an unfair generalization, you know like the one made by the anti enders that everyone liking the ending is a troll.

and yes Mintycool is a problem

and to the OP. Seriously, Halo wars

Agreed. Halo.is a great sereis, though not my thing.

Also I am bitter from all the flak I've gotten from calling out problem posters and gettin the standard "this is the internet grow up" response from both sides.

Sorry for acting on that bitterness here, the opportunity was to great for my better judgement.

Sounds like Mass Effect really did a number on you, but you'll recover....or you'll go stark raving mad by the voices in your head. As one of the few on this forum who still likes the game, I do have to admit that the game was a step down from Mass Effect 2. The story was much more linear, much of the deep characterization from previous entries was lost, side missions were not as high in number or quality. If you're wondering how I can still like the game despite some of its shortfalls, it is because some of the character moments and small references made were done extremely well. Tuchanka and Rannoch were especially great and gave me the greatest satisfaction. As I said earlier, buck up dude it can only get better for you to pick up that controller.

I agree with OP, this was the worst experience I've ever felt that has anything to do with gaming.

I played a lot of Kerbal Space Program, launched a few rockets to the "Mun". Really funny game, even better if you consider how the developers are actively taking part in most of the topics concerning future of the game. Check it out.

Don't let BioWare's crappy ending to ME3 ruin your joy of gaming. There are other developers who can, do, and will do better. You may lose your faith in BioWare (I pretty much have), but don't lose your faith in gaming. I almost went down that same road, I couldn't even touch Mass Effect 1. But... Skrim started to bring me back. Then Halo started to bring me back. Then, Minecraft made me smile again. Mass Effect may have failed me, but there are other fish in the sea.

Right now I have nothing else to play on PC but I definitely do not intend to play any part of ME in the near future. Not with knowing what comes at the end.

But reading Wheel of Time is a good point :). I can't wait for the last book. Unfortunately it will be released next year :(. I really hope that it has not such a disappointing end like ME. Something like the dark one want's to destroy everything just because if he would'nt do it, someone else would ;).
