I knocked a team mate out of the banshee's grip in one game. That team mate stuck to me for the rest of the match. Guess I made a new friend.
Do you, incidentally, take Force & Damage for Charge?
Maybe I should respec sometime soon.

No, I have weapon damage on that option. And I think I'll rebuild him to F&D as that was my shotgun novaguard. I now prefer to use a scoped Carnifex so I can do some long distance damage and stay close to the group. I found the shotgun made me too impatient to charge.
Also, I haven't tried charging her highness on gold. Only on silver and bronze.

good guide cept you can charge banshees freely if their blue aura is down( if it's up they can insta kill). Another tip you can only take on 1 turret at a time, if there is more than one it becomes a matter of luck, not skill.
I find that sometimes you cannot see their blue aura. That has killed me more than once. I just refrain from killing Banshees in general.
hmm I've never had that happen but sometimes they screech before they put it back up, but they never seem to screech when it's down.... so maybe try that to help. Also the aura usually goes down at around 6 bars of armor left (that's the first time they do it anyway). I played a lot of silver matches to get the hang of the insta killers before going to gold so it's based solely off of first hand experience.

At least you can Nova them safely if their blue-y glowing aura of chest-tearing doom is down.

Good guide, the only thing I didn't agree with was running away from the hack objective. The only way I can suggest doing this is if you have the aggro of both brutes or banshees, as they are the only enemies that can really screw up a hack big time. In all other situations, I find you are far more helpful being there in the circle making the hack finish faster.
I guess it depends. If you manage to draw the aggro of a large amount of enemies, you can keep them alive so that the hacking circle won't be swarmed as much.

If you can't charge all the time (and you can't because some groups are packed tight) you can help out your fellow biotics by using shockwave, it really makes a difference compared to firing whatever weapon you might be carrying or avoiding conflict momentarily.

if when you charge them you hold back on the controls so you are instantly back pedaling from them their melee will always wiff the air allowing you do Nova during the back pedal. doing this allows you to easly just spam your nova charge Against them. you can easly solo them up close as they will try to melee quite often and thanks to the simple backpedal they will waste time better spend trying to shoot you.
It let me solo entire rounds vs Geth back in my solo days on bronze.
everything else is stuff i learned through trial and error on my own out of a desire to not even bother trying to find a group due to the typical Attitude online in these games.
As a result i have to say, Thank you. If more people learned this stuff we might actually see Novaguards in Gold again. I might be able to play as my Favorite character without people trying to boot me simply due to my choice in Character despite me having long since learned how to preform perfectly with it.
yes... people try to boot the host...

Thanks for the contribution. It has been added to the guide.
And I'm glad that there are more brave souls out there who have decided to master the noble art of Novaguarding. =D

love it but too much fittness for my tastes shock wave has saved my rear more times than i can count specialy when there are no distant targets to charge to and depending on what lvl its on its a fast heavy biotic that kills low lvl trash and wounds and even dose a knock back on mid lvl mobs and can detenate BEs with out charging.....
I admit that a build without Shockwave is somewhat of a comfort zone for me. I should point out, however, that Charge is equally capable of staggering mid-level mobs and that I think the whole point of using Charge to detonate biotic explosions is to get those enemies to focus on you instead of the primer so he/she can lay down another power for me to detonate without worry.
As for greater survivability, I will take your word for it.

I tend to drop the last point in Alliance Training to get three in Shockwave. While you do lose some in weapon damage (or cooldowns if you prefer slightly heavier guns) the very fact that Shockwave is there for you to use in certain situations where you're hurt and there's a big bad guy in the way who will stagger you if you try doing the Nova thing, but you have good cover to duck behind and need to shake up a few trash mobs for your team - admittedly a rare situation for a Novaguard, but that's why I only put in three points!Olaf_de_IJsbeer wrote...

It also (at least prior to the most recent patch) does heavy armour (not shield) damage to the Atlas. Although they probably changed that with the fix to getting doublehits with penetrating sniper weapons.
Well, a Novaguard without heavy Nova use isn't a Novaguard, they're just an Alliance Vanguard.Serkevan wrote...
I personally prefer a full blast nova;
even going with the radius upgrade it hits far harder than a half blast
(although I run a full damage nova currently), and it lets you do a
continuos Nova-charge-nova-charge with around 60-70% invulnerability
frames at 150% bonus CD. In any case, I use my weapon far more often
than I use Nova, I normally use an Eviscerator (because, ya'know, Wraith
doesn't want to upgrade -.-')
Really nice guide, specially the charging etiquette section, 5-starred
Try Nova cancelling. It works incredibly well with full-blast Nova users.

. pretty fun after questioning yourself if nova guards are completely insane.
I've progressed beyond the stage of questioning and have concluded that I am, in fact, completely and irredeemably insane. How else can you get away with the crazy stuff Novaguards do?

Edit: Except that was throughoutly explained in the original post/guide, my bad.
Any suggestions for solo map selection against Cerberus? I've played around on Giant (easy disable 4) but it seems to go quite slow due to the size of the map, and I end up making mistakes. Is Ghost good for solo novaguards?
