Dragon Age t–shirts will be making their appearance this weekend at
Hot Topic retailers around the United States… but there’s more than
just an awesome t–shirt in it for you

Posted Image
An exclusive DLC amulet, the Mark of Vigilance. Not all maleficar practice
forbidden blood magic, but templars must constantly guard against the
possibility that even an innocuous-seeming mage has delved into arts
that permit him to control the minds of others.
The best mage-hunters are granted these valued amulets as rewards by
the Divine. They are often entombed alongside the templar when he dies.
Description:
  • Adds 2% to spell resist
  • Adds +6 to defense
  • Adds +5 to mental resist
This will be made available to buyers of the t–shirt, via a download
card that you pick up at the point of purchase. Head to your local Hot
Topic to grab yours.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Bioware contradict their own lore their? Maleficar refers to blood mages specifically is what I picked up.

Regardless, can't say I'm a huge fan of all these promotional tie-ins, the shirt looks great though. Now if only the design wrapped around the back...

Owners outside of the U.S should be able to get the DLC without the T-Shirt.

So are us in the UK unable to get the DLC?

Bah to bad they sell tham at Hot Topic. I'd sooner burn one down than shop at one.

AIUI, maleficar refers to any practitioner of the forbidden magics.  Blood magic is the most well-known, but I think (from Morrigan's words) that shapeshifters, at least, would qualify as well.

Apostate seems to refer to any mage who's not part of a (the?) Circle.  Semantically, it should only refer to ones who've left the Circle, but Alistair seems to use it in reference to mages who were never a part of any Circle as well (again, Morrigan.)

That might have been his own biases and misperceptions cropping up, though, and not what the 'official usage' was supposed to be.

As to the actual thread topic.

Hot Topic?  ewwww.

Isn't Bioware selling t-shirts already in their Store? In any case, too bad that they can't send them to Europe for a reasonable cost.

Why isn't it cool? It's a public link on Bioware's servers. The DLC does not require authorization.

Did you not read where it said that the DLC is exclusive to the buyers of the shirt? Are you trying to get yourself banned?

Seriously? Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt, dude.

So, for us non-Americans, this DLC is basically unavailable? And even if I were in America, I would be caught dead going into that creepy store with the pre-teen emos hanging around.

Where else are you going to get a Megatron t-shirt and autobot car window decal in this day and age?

I kinda had hoped everything in this day and age was available to buy online.

This isn't "exclusive". It's free. Anyone can download this straight from Bioware.

Cool marketing, Hot Topic.

Kind of Bioware a Canadian company to exclude Canadians. Not impressive, also yeah emo shop, way to miss the people who supported your brand for all these years. Kudos.

They're definetely selling shirts in the Bio Store, and I suppose they deliver to Canada?

There's no harm in posting the link.  This DLC does not require authentication and will work for everyone.  I once remarked that BioWare might change this in the future and one of the developers assured me that they would not do so.  The same is true for any other content on their servers that doesn't require authentication.  I've had this DLC for a few weeks, now.  The links are all posted in the tech support forum DLC thread.

Anyway, they really need to stop it with this nonsense.  I guess I don't much care, so long as I can get the item for free and it's just an item, but I'm going to be quite upset if they ever offer real content through a promotion like this.  I already bought the damn game and I shouldn't have to buy a t-shirt to get more of it.

I agree with Seifz here. I would actually be kind of pissed had i bought the game for xbox and couldn't get this thing for free, but if they ever release something substantial as a promo i would be super pissed.

Yeah, I'm kind of upset that if I want this item, I'll have to buy a shirt from Hot Topic, since I have the game on the Xbox...

The girls at "Hot Topic" are easy. It's worth the trip for that alone - consider the tshirt an added bonus.
