I have simply selected 'do not show desktop icons'. Winds me up having to minimise windows to launch apps and when I am not working the wallpaper looks great as Isabelle pointed out.

Everything you see on my desktop I have edited and photoshopped into an image. The white clocks and circles and stuff are all animated and part of the dekstop. There's RSS feeds coming in on the desktop too and I have my grocery notes on the right of the normandy.
Special thanks to taenaron.deviantart.com for producing the original background image of planets. I edited in a Reaper, Normandy, Tali, and Dominic Purcell as Shepard.
I will be seeing this desktop everyday until ME3 comes out.
