I was just messing around with it. It is quite good, seems very comparable to the Paladin.

So heavy... slower ROF and less damage per bullet than Paladin...

I like the Sabre more than a Carnifex or Paladin on my Soldier.

Though the weight makes me favour other things for my casters.

Purely by numbers, it does less damage than Paladin, more than Carnifex. The clip size is pretty nice however. Good for non - casters, or people that dont need really short cooldowns (Justicar).

It's not that heavy. Paladin 3 rounds, Saber 8. How much less damage does it do?

Heavy, damage is not that impressive, needs scope mod for accurate shooting over long ranges, low rate of fire, recoil is quite heavy.

Saber has longer reload so it probably loses in terms of sustained dps, too

Like 50, plus the slower ROF, plus slow reload.

It's amazing, but I don't use it on caster classes. Paladin/Carnifex/Talon are better there.

Prefer the AP and damage mods - what I like is that it doesn't have a scope.

On soldiers, infiltrators, and the other odd infrequent caster it is great. Any range, any target. Can be used up close as a shotgun (apart from the obvious downside of no multiple pellets to blast through shield gate), or as a sniper - I mean you don't really need a scope to snipe on most maps/situations.

Too heavy to justify its low damage, damage too low to justify its recoil, performance in general too poor to justify its rarity. A half decent magazine is little comfort to a low damage, hard-kicking, slow firing gun that can't even attain its (already low) maximum rate of fire reliably due to recoil.

I've heard people defend it by comparing it to the Carnifex, usually saying that it deals slightly more damage but fires slightly slower, and that would be an apt defence - if it wasn't fifty times heavier and a million times more rare.

Even on classes to which weight is of little consequence, there are at least half a dozen (if not more) better choices available, all of which still weigh less.

BW is better for that job. Plus it has a built in scope and innate AP so you don't waste mods like you do on the saber.

Actually, the Paladin will have to reload almost 3 times as often meaning that for every 2.9 seconds you spend reloading the Sabre, you'll have spent 4.5 reloading the Paladin. The Sabre can also reload cancel much more effectively.

Though I probably still wouldn't use it on anything but a Soldier.

I had a lot of success with a Saber infiltrator in single player. I'd like to try it in multiplayer but don't have the gun.

Yeah BW is superior, but I don't like it - personal taste. Saber has one of the best sound effects in the game, no scope, large clip, and a lot more flexible than the BW.

As for wasting mods, I don't need the stability mod, scope mod, and the magazine upgrade while good isn't necessary.

I agree it's not got a great damage/weight ratio compared to some other weapons (BW, paladin, carnifex, talon, valiant, etc), but it's more than viable on gold.

Am I one of the few that love the Saber!? Have it at level 6 and it's basically a Valiant without a scope and twice as much ammo! If I ever get it to 10 it will weigh as much as the grenade launchers at 10 and is perfect for soldiers and snipers. Does not need a scope, I can snipe stuff with screen reticule. Ammo powers also work wonders on this gun!

The weight of the gun offsets the ammo, because the Paladin carries almost no ammo 3-5 clip, 21-33 spare. The Saber has 8-14 clip and 40-56 spare! More than most snipers!

It basically comes down to: Do I want less shots and more power (Paladin 423-531) or less power and more Shots (Saber 389-486)?

That is all.

recoil on the saber is also a little more unbearable.

This. Also paladin has terrible recoil,where-as the Saber is a bit easier to handle in my opinion

The recoil reduction mod helps. But compared to most wepons in the game the saber is easily oneof the better to choose from considering the knockback/stun it deals then adding a follow up head shot for the kill if you havent allready scalped said foe.

I'd never use it on anything not my Human Soldier or GI. And honestly I'd rather use a GPS on my GI, so more than likely I won't use it on anything other than the soldier.

I think it needs a damage buff. It's supposed to be the baddest ass AR in the game in terms of burst damage, and it still gets out damaged by the dinky Paladin.

I use it with my krogen soldier on gold ( not playin the hero and running out of cover) with carnage at max taking down a shield and then follow up with the saber. Its a niece combo.

It's so much fun to use, especially the sound it makes.
I think it's a decent alternative to a Paladin..

It sounds like a small Howitzer whats not to love? Partially jesting there. But seriously its an all around good rifle.
