Sadly I would agree that a low level saber is not worth it - for caster classes - if you have the paladin or decent level carnifex. I've tried using it on my justicar specced for weight reductions but it just doesn't work as efficiently due to the extreme weight. It's a shame as it seems I run a pistol on most classes that I regularly play and a change up would be nice for the sake of variety.

I like it, don't have the Paladin. Use the Carnifex for my casters, but for more soldier-like characters I usually go for the Saber. Mostly because I enjoy precision, and am no good with a weapon that is not stable.

If you can't tell I have had a little experience with firearms. I do own a few and the M 14 is one of them, got it cheap to. I think I came off wrong about the 7.62. It's a very good round. But the Saber to me fires more like a .338. I find the saber to more of a semi auto Sniper rifle than a marksman rifle. The Accuracy of the Lapua is without question and so is the punch. I always felt the Saber belonged in the Sniper rifle catagory, it just does not have a scope,  That's why I compare it to the Saber, the Widow and Black Widow are anti material rifles. The Saber is a notch below the BW, and is the 4th most powerful rifle in the game I believe. Widow, BW, Mantis. In terms of damage per shot. I don't count the Harpoon gun cause, well it's a harpoon gun. To me the Saber feels much heavier than an M 14.

Agreed it feels much heaver than an M14. It was the first thing that came to mind when trying to make a comparison of kick and target reaquisition. Can't make an honest comparison to the .338 in performance b/c I've never fired one. My family does alot of hunting, that's where the majority of my firearms experience is. Shot the M14 at the range sighting in my .270 after the scope got out of whack when my kid knocked the rifle off the tree it was leaning against, and fell halfway down a rocky slope.  Shooting all those weapons you mentioned is on the bucket list. Let me ask you, have you ever fired a Barrett 98B or an Accuracy Int. AX 338? I own one and have fired the other. The M 14 is a great weapon. I also compare the reverant which reminds me of a QBB 95 to a SAW as well, and if that is a 5.56, then the Saber is clearly a more powerful round than a 7.62.

Agree about the Revenant/SAW totally. I've got a great pic of my kid proned behind a SAW at the range on some sandbags. That thing can kill some paper.

Believe me if I owned a Saber Mark X I would use it, my kind of weapon, accurate and powerful. I don;t, and right now the one I have is to heavy for what I like doing. I get sick of my Carni, I like mixing it up to and that would be my second weapon of choice. Would love to slap that on my Turian Sentinal or Geth infiltrator. I can't give it to the Salrian though, it just looks wrong.

Congrads on the mark V it got lighter and you are now more deadly. If I ever get my Saber up I am going try and put together an all Saber team. I want to try this with the Black Widow as well. That's some real firepower down range right there.

Yeah I read in the Stardusk thread that you only have it at a 1. It's ok at 1, but like you said... other things at X are more preferrable. I've had mine at 4 for a month or so, I don't really remember how it performed much lower than that. Ditto on the Carnifex, I'm pretty tired of it too. It's so versitale that  it ended up on so many class early on, and wore me out on it. The performance is there, it's just old. I got the Indra a few days ago, and at 1 it put me at +146% or something like that. I might start using it on some of my caster heavy classes, it's effective AND fun to use. Alot of weapons in the game can't say that they are both effective and fun at the same time... carnifex for example.

You might recognize this

"My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, or the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit..."

My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel.

I don't have the Paladin.

My Carnifex is only a Carnifex II.

So stop badmouthing my best gun :P

Honestly, I like it because the scope causes me to lose track of where I'm aiming, and I'm on the PS3, so I have "aim assist" issues with the Widow and BW. With the Saber, I get medium range headshots, and some nice high DPS at point blank where aiming doesn't matter.
