Why did Bioware force the EDI/Joker relationship on us and make it out to be so important?

The balance of organics and synthetics is an important theme in the series, or so the ending suggests.

Joker and EDI represent how the two can co operate.

Actually, the ending stands as a direct contradiction to this theme: organics and synthetics will always war unless Shepard _______(choose your ending).

EDI must have some on-board software that distracts her from how damn uncomfortable it is to battle with a frontal wedgie.

It's not forced, but it is still ****ing stupid.

I don't want EDI with ******, I want the clever AI that is a smart-mouth and tries to make jokes, while directly inside the Normandy.

I liked the idea of EDI having a body at first, but the large metal breast, camel-toe outfit, and romance is stupid.

This romance stuff is just getting out of hand.

Been saying this since the leak - the joker / edi romance could have been really really fascinating and awesome had EDIs body been something that wasn't out of a robot sex fantasy.

If it had been a plain, non gendered metal skeleton, the romance would have been much better. By having it as this sexbot it just cheapened it.

Joker does "criticise" her body the first time he see's it.

...Which is why Joker insists EDI stay on the bridge to "improve morale".

It was made for 15 year old boys who prefer gigantic metal boobs over story.

Oh, but to address OP. I agree that the Joker / EDI storyline did seem to overwhelm other relationships. Especially since many others were ignored. It would only make sense to someone who picked up ME at game 3.

Sorry. I couldn't resist.

Offensive? Given that you HAVE TO LOOK FOR IT really hard to even see it.... I don't care.

Ya I felt it was kind of forced, but at least you tell them no not to do it. Still I wish we were given a choice to have EDI stay in the Ship and not upload into that sex toy.

There's nothing wrong with EDI, there's a whole race of blue alien girls that can breed with anyone that people should start on first if they want to criticise the game as being made for 15 year old boys.

People do criticize that; at least I do.

Along with Miranda's design and Ashley's plastic surgery (complete with artbook comments about how "she needed to be sexier").

....I wouldn't say that was...criticism by any stretch.

In regards to your post about your Asari - never really liked their concept either - but they were there from the very start of the game - EDI became what she became later to....well for no reason I can comprehend. Once again though I only have issue with the over-exageratted feminine proportions she has. I think the Joker / EDI romance would have been much deeper if EDI didn't have such a body - it would have really touched on the synthetic / organic romance much better.

EDI got a body to fill that Tech specialist posistion. The fact that she's sexulised really is irrelevant unless the people complaining about it also complain about the super sexualised Asari.

..which I said I wasn't fond of either...

Edit Besides - I said the issue wasn't with the fact she got a body. It was the fact she got the body she did.

To be fair Miranda is supposed to be genetically perfect, she can be excused. And no matter how sexy they make Ashley she's still the same whiney girl she always is.

It is arguably the dumbest point in ME3...when they actually had that being hinted at I laughed at first and then realized that this was another pathetic attempt at putting a little bit of humanity into robots. I mean honestly...Joker must have no friends at all. Who would try to **** a robot and not have one of his bros go..."That's a little too far man".

I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. It was a perfectly acceptable if fairly predictable subplot.

I will say one thing though, it seems like it'd be very hard to 'infiltrate' with the body of a porn star. Why weren't Eva's proportions built to something more average and unassuming? Obviously the answer is that TIM is a big perv, but anyway.

I thought even if you discouraged them, they went along with it anyway. That's what I heard from some anti-Joker/EDI people.

Simple.

They wanted you to pick the wrong choice, Synthesis. That way Joker, the guy that leaves you for death, can have baby cyborgs with EDI.

Rather have someone that speaks their mind that a yesman stalker that watches me as I try and sleep. Seriously, how the heck does she keep sneaking into my quarters?  I told her no in  ME1 and stayed loyal to Ashley, the better choice, but Liara just can't take a hint not even when I tell her to leave me alone and give me space.

It was very important to have them join together in lasting emotional union so that later on you can see for yourself that the ending is correct and thematically consistent as it tells us that coexistence between Organics and Synthetics is impossible. Otherwise, the ending just wouldn't make sense.

Really? *sighs* If I ever get around to playing my Renegade FemShep she's going to be pissed about that. Nobody gets to have sex on the Normandy but her (although I may make an exception for Donelly/Daniels, I do really like them together).

Except we never see the Geth or EDI die (if you believe some people, you see her walk out of the ship).  And Shepard lives.... Given that the other two clearly showed their effects, the absence of "Destroy" consequences was.... intriguing.

That is intriguing. Even Merizen said that EDI can survive. I think its just a bug, but who knows?
