I've tried many things, including opening the ports mentioned before on my windows firewall, and nothing, my character stats and achievements doesn't update UNTIL I delete the character and wait for the re-upload (that usually happens 12 hours after that).

I've installed the 1.02 patch, changed equipment, and done game (in addition to quick) saves.
My achievements update but not my other accomplishments.
The following now shows up in profile diagnostics:
Error Codes
1004 - No story xml file uploaded from the game to the on-line storage server.
1003 - No portrait image uploaded from the game to the on-line storage server.
* Also, if I log into the BioWare servers via the game main menu, I can't play as I get a message saying I have unauthorized content. I can play just fine if I am not logged in.
Techincal issues or ancient curse?

If you want your profile to update regularly, have someone other than yourself (a friend?) log on to the site and view your character profile. This will generally trigger an update in anything from a few minutes to almost a day, depending.
If this is not possible, you can do it yourself - but you need to not be logged in, so the site doesn't know it's you. This can be irksome for various reasons, as you will see. First, bookmark your profile page to simplify things a bit. Second, have your browser set to not keep cookies. Don't log in from the game, instead open your browser and use the bookmark. Go through the process - select language, DoB - and you should get to your profile without being logged in as you. You can view your characters, there is no access to profile diagnostics or the 'manage' buttons. You can then log in if you choose. But it is roundabout, and it means every site you use you will have to log in manually because cookies aren't kept.
Entirely up to you.

I just realized you can do all this with IE8's InPrivate feature, and I wager Firefox's and Chrome's similar features.SusanStoHelit wrote...

I don't use IE myself, so wasn't aware of it. I do use Firefox but have not heard of such a feature. I simply never keep cookies for various reasons, they get dumped when I close my browser. So the 'solution' is easy for me, I just have to do what I always do anyway. But for those who use different settings, I wanted to explain something that worked. I'm glad to hear there's an easy way around for those who like to keep cookies.

When I click on "manage characters" link - it shows nothing. By nothing I mean I webpage appears properly - there is just no content where I would expect it to show my characters.
When I click on "manage screenshots" link - it shows nothing (same as above - no content). I've tried cntrl+f5, cntrl+refresh button. I've come back over the course of several days and no change.
My achievements, however, are appearing properly.
I would like to delete my characters and screenshots (as others have said that worked for them) but I don't even have the choice as the manage screenshots / manage characters screen lists nothing.
Apparently I have 12 screenshots - but I cannot view them anywhere or manage them.
This is very frustrating.
edit: Oh and I primarily use Google Chrome, but I've tried Safari, Firefox and IE - same thing. So it is not the browser.
edit: Either posting here fixed it, or one of the Bioware guys saw my post - because shortly after my original post - my profile started working. Look at my profile - strange... Oh well I'm happy that it is working now!

In Most cases the extra file(s) are due extra copies of the character xml files being uploaded.
Making choices in the game, reloading and then making different choices should not cause a new version of the story file to upload.
And how do we fix that?
Like others here, I'm far from the 100 files limit, so I'm not sure what's causing the trouble.
Is deleting the character online and re-uploading the recommended route?

It's the only one. There are more details available in other threads on this subject, namely the diagnostics page sticky.CBGB wrote...

For anyone else with this problem, the Sticky has no significant further information. The best details come from Snoteye, who just posted above, and the end result is the same: you can try deleting the Online save of the character and reload it.
It'd sure help if Bioware posted more information about this and other errors in their FAQs, as they claim.
This isn't correct, as you can read from other posts in this Thread:
Jesse van Herk (BIOWARE) wrote...
error 1005 is ONLY a problem if your total number of files is at or near 100, i.e. nothing new can get uploaded..
and this, while more accurate, doesn't explain what caused the problem or what to do:
Jeff Rousell (BIOWARE) wrote...
We have just changed the wording on this error message to say "Error 1005 - Extra unexpected files uploaded for this character." This should help clear up some of the confusion with that error message.
We do have this information:
but it's not clear what would cause such a thing or what do about it. Apparently it isn't due to reloads:Jeff Rousell wrote...

To be perfectly fair, it has not significantly been explained.Snoteye wrote...
First, you read the rest of this thread. That question has been answered several times over in many different places, including this thread.wolfman007 wrote...
I,am gating 1005 - Extra unexpected files uploaded for this character to what do i do
That's true. It's still not explained, nor fully 'solved.' But the best bet appears to be to try these:
- Delete the online persona of your character, then re-upload.
- If that doesn't work, you could try Adaram's method of deleting ALL the online characters and all screenshots.
- Snoteye also suggested confirming the following ports are open: 18081, 80, 443.

I hope that the bioware guys fix this bug someday...and before someone ask, yes, I tried everything suggested in the old 1005 thread (opening ports, disabling firewall, deleting all screenshots and so on...) and nothing, my characters have the same annoying 1005 error.
